    • US$85M is a pittance for Nikon. Clearly RED sold their patents and IP to Nikon and little more.  No further proof needed that Nikon will integrate RED's tech into their own cameras and Z mount and slowly let current RED owners rot. They have zero incentive to produce a new RED camera with any other mount than their Z flavor, if any. Let ARRI dominate the cinema world and open up that crunchy RED codec to tiny video producers everywhere at an affordable price.
    • Large format printing work... from video? ; ) Needs vary accordingly different users and purposes for sure.
    • I definitely always keep the originals, but it depends on what work you're doing and what you export. If you really want to reduce the amount of storage your footage takes up, one way is to use the (excellent) Media Management tool and use the Copy Only Used Media Files option to create a backup of only the files that you actually used in the project.  If your source files are large RAW files then you could transcode them to a Prores file as a lower resolution source and delete the RAW files.  Or you could even export a Prores HQ copy of your completed timeline to have a high quality copy of it, rather than an 8-bit h264/5 export only. Of course, all these things take time, and if time is money to you then it might just be easier to buy more hard drives!
    • What a waste of space, I mean I have a Z9, I always use 4k mode and zero sharpening because it is already too detailed. Once I had the misfortune of using the 4k from 8k output on older people, that thing was so hard to blur the skin as it was so detailed. What is the use of using such resolution then to put all types softening filters.
