Administrators Andrew Reid 10,258 Posted October 4, 2018 Administrators Share Posted October 4, 2018 Original file is available to download on Vimeo (click the video title above). Want the absolute best cheap low-end camera for 4K shooting? You're looking at it. I think the E-M10 III at $500 might just be the best value for money 4K camera now available, but it's easy to lose sight of that. With the recent price race to the top, I'm starting to wonder how monied you have to be. A certain "DSLR video" blog currently features an Alpa cage on a Hasselblad H6D 100C! Shield3 145
Is it a full 2x crop then? So not 2.2?

Digitgio 5
I considered to buy this camera and you are right, but one thing stopped me to buy it, the lack of log or HLG. HLG is enough for casual 4K shooting, but in my opinion 4K without HDR is not so different from HD SDR. I’m talking of no pro works, just home video and/or casual video and the lack of HLG in my opinion is important. I hope in a firmware upgrade of it, talking with Olympus guy at their showroom seems to me that could be a problem of CPU, but at the end HLG is only a different gamma curve and probably not so demanding in more CPU power. thebrothersthre3 1,231
I don't really mind that it doesn't have log as its an 8 bit camera. This looks like a really good buy though. Olympus has the best IBIS, probably the only one I'd care to use. I might just get it after hearing it also does 120p.
liork 128
They did not put HLG in the flagship E M1 II so do not expect it on this camera...

Topcat 8
I got the MIII refurbed on sale from Olympus to replace my fiancee's G7X for $400 with kit lens. Great 4K videos but haven't had the chance to compare it with my XT3 but certainly for the price it is amazing and it is better looking and much more compact than the XT3 especially with the pancake sized EZ zoom kit lens. Mckinise 29
I was looking at the specs on the Olympus site. It says it has both 23.976 and Cinema 24.0 fps. I haven't seen that anywhere else. Is that true?

It looks like it is UHD with the option of 23.976 or 24.0 I was hoping someone with the camera would confirm or deny.

tellure 87
That footage looks superb for $500. If you had told me that was from a GH5 or A7III I would have believed it.

CyclingBen 43
I think I found a better solution for cameras that don't have an audio input. It's compatible with all makes and models. If you're a preppper or protester it has multiple uses. EthanAlexander
