Do NPF batteries/plates provide enough volts to power the camera through the external power port? I remember reading in the manual that it requires more than using an internal dummy battery. I would give it a check to make sure we're not missing anything.

You need a version of the NPF sled with a transformer built in to step up the voltage.

I used BRAW exclusively on a shoot for the first time earlier this week. The footage is *very* easy to work with. I was shocked when I just opened Resolve, pulled the DCI 4K clips in, and started editing, without creating proxy files or doing anything special. It was as easy to use as pulling a Prores file into Final Cut.

Given the advantages of RAW and the small file sizes of BRAW, I suspect that we will be shooting BRAW most of the time going forward.

After testing for a couple of days, we're Q5 all the time.

Shot a film with it last week and yes, in the new Resolve, it is as fast - even faster than ProRes w/ FCPX.

I was in the field w/ a MP skimming through a twenty minute timeline, every clip w/ a LUT and a grade. It's amazingly fast.

So much so that as a small shop w/ 3 FCPX stations I really never expected to integrate resolve. After 1 week shooting braw and working with it in Resolve, I'll never shot ProRes or edit in FCPX again. A couple of producers had mentioned to me that they didn't see the "magic" from the new cam until they shot in braw and processed it in Resolve and I have to agree. It isn't just the file size and the ease of editing and grading - it's where the full potential of Gen4 and the new cam IQ comes together.

I used BRAW for a big project all last week and I agree with you. No reason for Prores for me moving forward.

Q5 is the new Jack-of-all-Crafts tool, a true Swiss Army knife indeed.

In any way whatsoever, cDNG would benefit this capture device as a more powerful amphibian vehicle I'd much really love to not lose it : -)

Given what Grant said in the Blackmagic video announcing the 6.2 firmware, I seriously doubt that we will see CinemaDNG back on any BM camera. He said some fairly derogatory things about CinemaDNG during that video :)  I was very surprised that he was so candid about CinemaDNG, not that I disagree, CinemaDNG is a pain to work with...

His presentations crack me up so much. I don’t think he writes or rehearses them. just wings the whole thing then they click publish without any edits. Brilliant stuff

I assume this has probably been discussed a lot but I am curious what glass you guys are using with the P4K?

I assume there are a lot of Sigma 18-35mm users and native M4/3 lenses attached to the business end of your P4K, but is anyone using cinema lenses or rare vintage lenses, or even some oddball Franken-adapted lenses?

I’d love to see some samples if possible.

Sigma 18-35 f1.8 and rokinon 85 f1.4 for sharp mordern look

MIR 35f2, helios 58f2 and helios 85f1.5 for vintage dreamy look. I might add a MIR 20mm f3.5 to complete this set.

I blamed @kye for the second set. He’s responsible for a quite a few good things in my life lately. Boys, it came out so wrong😂

That is what I am considering. 18-35 and a set of Samyangs and a 18-135 EF-S I already own for run n gun and probably a 70-200 F4 or 70-300mm

For the EF Samyangs, what you guys suggest, the Metabones 0.64X??

In case you weren't already aware, this won't fit on speedboosters as the back of the lens will hit the glass. The same thing happens with the 10-18 EF-S. Luckily, you can hack the 10-18 to make it work, but not sure if that's possible with the 18-135.

Is this the case with the lens regain also?

For full frame EF lenses, what Metabones adapter is the most suitable?

The importer here told me that there is a more constant stream of cameras right now, still too many pre-orders that won't be serviced until the end of the summer though.

Completely off topic but I seem to remember you are based in Utrecht.

Hope you and yours are unaffected mate.

I assume so. That is the case with Metabones and Viltrox, so don't see why it'd be any different. The hack is easy, but you won't be able to sell the lens down the line really.

@BTM_Pix - Wow, how did you know that? Thanks for asking, I'm all good, but there's not much info right now. The police here were on strike today - it ended very quickly - so either it was preplanned or the fucker got lucky. Either way, he's not been caught yet. People have been asked to stay off the roads as much as possible to keep them clear for emergency vehicles.

Utrecht is one of the best places to live! Didn't know anything happened there. Have friends there also. Can't believe people are so stupid in the 21st century. Can't wait to skip to the 24st century and the Federation!

So, for EF full frame lenses, I get the 0.64X metabones?
