3. Hi Guys, I used my G85 yesterday for a short shoot for a charity at a school. I shoot much of footage handheld and the IBIS was switched on as far as I'm aware, but when I got back to edit I found the footage seems more shakey than I was expecting. As you can see from the video Does this look normal or did I forget to switch the IBIS on? No doubt the shake is magnified at the longer end of the lens. Also wondering if people use other stablizers with their Lumix cameras? After watching this back I think I need more stabilization for this kind of work. I am using the 1st 12.35mm 2.8 lens
4. This was shot entirely hand held with the GH4, 12 35 2.8. Edited on Premiere Pro, with post stabilization. CineD @4K 25p
5. Please have a look at the music promo I made using a kowa 8-Z anamorphic adaptor, mounted on a voigtlander Nokton 35mm F1.2, using a Lumix GH3. I also had a Tokina .4 achromat and a Cokin Diopter +2 for the Close ups. It was all shot at night which presented problems as the Lumix isn't very good in low light. I was shooting at 50fps which reduced the amount of light I had even further. I also found that if the lens was fully open it was difficult to get a focus. Not because it was too shallow, but because it wouldn't focus on anything! As you can see I over-cranked the ISO on occasion, but I couldn't set lights up on the banks of the Thames at 3am, as we didn't have permission to be there. I wish I'd got someone to stand close by reflecting a bright torch off a white shirt though. I can only hope that I get away with the graininess in the spirit of low/no budget film making, and it looks like 16mm! Staying close to the subject, using the diopters, gave me a picture I liked the most. The bokeh looks lovely and soft and cinematic. Shots where I had to focus to infinity were difficult - the bokeh is ugly in those shots (in my opinion), taking the shape of a kind of horizontal tear. But I couldn't film the whole video in close ups! It was difficult to shot this as a one-man-band. Having to screw two different diopters on or off every time I wanted to change my proximity to the actors made it quite fiddly. I was also moving lights (I had x3 LED panels). I had some other taking lenses, but it wasn't practical to change during the shoot. Lastly, I know its normal to crop the super-wide picture you get from shooting 2x anamorphic on a 16:9 sensor, but I decided to embrace it. It's fun, and a bit silly, but its a music promo, so why not. Hope you enjoy. The track by Durlston George, his debut single, is lovely.
6. Hi, Couple of months ago, a photographer (nickname lenuisible) decode the wireless communication protocol between image app on smartphone and GH3 camera http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6703/control-your-gh3-from-a-web-browser-now-with-video-/p1. I took these, and adapted to my 13 years old remote control software (originally written in vb6 for casio qv3000). After a couple of days, the software now finds the camera, queries its capabilities, and allows user to control the camera from windows PC. It is a very simple program, you just see the commands (like focus, zoom, exposure, aperture, white balance etc...) and use them. You can also record those settings and play them back later. You can tell the program to repeat those commands. So you can make timelapses by zooming in each shot, or changing the white balance when its dark outside. For examplle you can adjust the focus between objects and then you can set the focus with one click like this: http://www.dijitalakademi.com/P1640788.MP4 You can program complex set of commands and make it replay those (or replay and repeat) I also added liveview from http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6703/control-your-gh3-from-a-web-browser-now-with-video-/p1, thanks to lenuisible.. You should just press "Liveview" button. But you have to have java installed in your machine. From the post, "Java RE : download here : http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp Add the java bin directory to your PATH, On a windows machine, the Java bin directory should be : C:Program FilesJavajre7bin" I have a FZ1000 to test it, it works ok, but it should work with all wifi enabled LUmix cameras. So feel free to try it, and let me know how it works. Before you run the software, you should enable wifi from camera, connect the camera either a wifi network, or your pc to your camera. Program should find the camera automatically.. If program gives "no response from camera" then check wifi connection, get closer to the router, try again.. you can download and install it from http://www.dijitalakademi.com/lumixcontrol.zip Screenshot:http://1.static.img-dpreview.com/files/p/E~forums/54696040/62ebbbd324fa4551932accb5bf73f94b

9. We shot this music video with my Lumix GX7 after comparing the image quality with other Canon cameras that we had available. Samyang lenses were used with a EF adapter.
10. Have been seriously considering this lens for my GH3 and (eventually) the BMPCC - though I can't seem to find any non-nature/event footage to get an idea of how it performs when shooting narrative work... The focus-by-wire and electronic aperture will be a pain for video shooting also... But the 12-35 range is really appealing (esp for the BMPCC). Anyone have any experience with this lens beyond test videos and home movies? Is it possible to create cinematic images with it under the right conditions, or are primes the only way to go? And if so, what would be an ideal prime lens set for the BMPCC (regarding focal length, not brand/model)?
11. Hey there, I am relatively new to these discussions; but after having scoured the internet for some answers I have been at a loss, so where better to ask than here??? I have been working for a my organisation for a year now, and my job is essentially being the in-house film-maker, for the past year I have been using my Hacked Lumix GH2 (don't ask me what type of hack it is, I did it in 2012, recording between 88-90mbps with no negative side effects, except that no playback is available until the camera has been turned off and on). I typically shoot in cinema 23.976 fps in 1080p and have a very fluid workflow (I produce about 2 videos a week for the company I work for). Since last month I have been 'upgraded' to the Canon 5D MkIII since the company didn't want me to use my personal gear (for insurance reasons, I travel a lot with the gear). And while there are some downsides in terms of bulkiness of the 5D body compared to the GH2 (and lack of swivel screen) it is a standalone camera and I find the two can't be compared too much: they are both great and stand well on their own depending on the job required. My ultimate question is: now that we're in 2014 and seeing as the GH4 is about to be released, what is the 'next level' in affordable DSLR's (or even dedicated cameras, like the Black Magic)in your opinion? I feel like I have been out of touch with the camera world since I hacked my GH2 in 2012, is this a camera that seems 'future proof' (with the hack) or will it shrivel to the upcoming 4k's?
12. I just purchased an Industar 61 50 mm lens for my GH2 off of Craigslist. I have the right adapter it fits perfectly; yet, when I just tried to test it out (in my bedroom at night) nothing would come into focus. Please keep in mind I'm a novice learning my tools. I've read that this lens when wide open can be rather soft and isn't fast enough for indoors; yet, I didn't realize how this was connected to focus. Do you think this is the issue here? Not something wrong with the lens itself. Regardless I'll be testing it out tomorrow in daylight and have a better idea. Would appreciate any insight and lessons from your expertise! Thank you! :)
13. Hey guys. I am primarily shooting with a GH3 and have a small assortment of native m43 lenses. I need a really versatile lens for events an was looking at the new lumix 14-140 3.5-5.6. I realize it's not very fast but I was thinking it could be a good all around lens for when getting the shot was more important than a specific look. I am also thinking of getting a BMPCC and since it has OIS I think it could be a good fit. Any other suggestions under 1k would be appreciated as well.
14. looking to purchase an industrar 61L 50 mm lens for my panasonic gh2. was wondering what adapter i should go with for this lens. any recommendations or insight would be helpful! thanks so much!
15. Hi there, I have been looking at these two lenses lately, both very impressive and both rated very closely, as per this report here. I cannot find any other comparison reviews of people who have actually used both. As a GH2/GH3 user I am wondering if there is any disadvantage in going with the Oly; it weighs a good three ounces more than the Panny, with more fancy lens elements, but don't know if it makes it necessarily superior to the Panny. It certainly 'feels' like a better lens and happens to be much cheaper. Anyone had experience with both?

17. Hello, I recently shot this 1-shot music video on my GH3. It worked out great. especially being light weight. https://vimeo.com/65240570 Lens: 12-35 f2.8 Shot @ 12mm, f4.0, 800 ISO, 1/50th Shutter, 4300k Look: Natural with -4 NR, -4 Sharpness, -3 Contrast, -3 Saturation. 23.98p 50mpbs IPB .MOV Image Stabilization on Note: There was color grading done
18. This lens does not have the focal length to be used with most of the anamorphic lenses floating around eBay. It would probably work on the LA7200 or maybe the Century, but that's about it. However, the upcoming 35-100mm would probably work. And then you'd have a fast, image-stabilized micro four thirds lens to use with your anamorphic. In anticipation for this lens, I tried holding my Iscomorphot in front of the 12-35mm to see if it would flare. It doesn't (or it didn't in my test) and I think that it's unlikely that the 35-100mm will flare either.
19. We plan to shoot a series of video motion portraits using a GH3 and wonder what is the best lens to use?  We would like to shoot at somewhere between 50-80mm in 35-equiv.   Thanks
20. Stained Glass, Bare Wood https://vimeo.com/54234207 Picked up the GH3 this weekend. I owned the GH2 since day one and was very impressed with it. So far the GH3 has been even better, some of the best quality DSLR footage I've seen. I'm looking forward to finding more about what this little camera can do. ~ Mike
