From 'early 2019' video playback will be increased from a maximum of 3 minutes to a maximum of 10 minutes....

None of these recent camera releases has persuaded me to parts ways with the GH5, here’s why: 
- Ergonomically awesome for video with loads of custom functionality. Feels MADE for video. 
- 10 bit 4:2:2 codecs are very strong. 
- MFT sensor, while Speedboosted, is easier to focus than a full frame sensor. Very adaptable. 
- Great battery life. 
- IBIS is excellent.
- EVF and Flip Out LCD are awesome. 
- @Sage Alexa conversion makes it a different camera. 
- Anamorphic modes. 
- Monitor LUT - super useful! 
I’ve tried the AF on a gimbal with the GH5 and it works quite well. Not Canon or Sony level, but decent. 
Theres features in the other cameras that look appealing, but the way I view it, how much will it change my videos? 
I’ve opted to spend and upgrade my lighting to a full Aputure setup and camera movement. These things directly influence the picture more and invite increased skill and knowledge in composition. 

Yeah who need FF and those fancy new camera if you just can do everything on a phone, you shouldnt be even this forum apparently phone is good enough for you, stick to GSMArena mate!

Bright conditions + wide apertures require very strong ND to control exposure and many ND filters don't block IR as well as visible light which the sensor can pick up and cause a colour shift in dark tones. Naturally you can also stop down the lens but then you may as well get a native M43 lens.
I'm not seeing anything that couldn't be done with a GH5 or GH5s and a (heavy) grade - apart from the 4k 60p internal. 

THIS + why DFD AF when they know it's not as good as DPAF in video? 
Please throw shit on Canon on my behalf. 

I filmed this over 5 weeks in Colombia on a personal trip. I brought along minimal gear... well as minimal as I could  Let me know if you have any questions and if you are thinking about visiting Colombia I would highly recommend it!
 

Today ， every other brand kill canon，even fuji do far better video than some Canon C series  Cameras
Soon panasonic will join the FF war and give us a great FF camera with tones of nice 4K video Features
Just forget Canon , jumpship to other brand that offer what you need，even Canon is dead now，nobody will feel  that is a pity！

Surprise surprise, the Nikon Z6 is still a better and cheaper camera for us filmmakers than the newly announced Canon EOS R!
Sure, it gained 10bit output and log (just like the Nikon Z6), but it basically is still a Canon 5Dmk4 (which means an awful crop, so why bother buying a FF camera in the first place? And no IBIS!).

Tomorrow the x-t3 is supposed to be announced with 40k60, 10bit internal and ETERNA. If it doesn’t have a crop when shooting 4K it seems to be a much better deal than the new Canon. 1.7x crop ??

Quite surprised by the specs on this camera. It sounds like it is about 3 years late. 
With the not particularly inspiring Nikon and now Canon announcements, Panasonic seems to be in a prime position. If they announce something that is basically a Full Frame GH5 , they will really be ahead of the game.

The GH5 just needed better AF like DPAF or PDAF to be the perfect camera. Sony just needs a better screen, be it tilty-swively or 90º up to appeal to people like bloggers and maybe 50p 4k and 10bit for cinematographers.
Canon and Nikon are entering the fray bringing numbers and history but for some reason they're going to protect their DSLR line or their Cinema line. That gives Pana and Sony a very good opportunity to react and be in a better position when the landslide arrives. It's either that or being crushed to bits by the dinosaurs. Really rooting for the nimble mammals here.

I think that Panasonic has the biggest balls of any of the big companies. With the GH5 and GH5-5 they had ZERO fear to market against the bigger sensor companies. I always thought they were like a wolverine in the forest absolutely willing and eager to attack wolves, mountain lions ang grizzely bears all day long....absolutely agressive and fearless.
If we see them going full frame with that same ferocious mentality. My God, they will dump everything known to man into that thing. They will do things that Sony and Canon will be too terrified to do. 10bit CODECS, All I frame, 6k sensor readout and internal recording. Anamorphic modes....maybe even raw sensor data output? Yeah.....they got the biggest marketing balls.

As someone who has BMPCC4K on preorder and was a GH5 skeptic, I only recently used the GH5 in a shoot for the first time and was blown away by the ease of use. The gimbal ended up in the bag, and I shot the whole thing by hand. If it's anything like the micro 4/3 camera, along with a higher megapixel sensor (40 to 50), I'm jumping in.

And mic-in. And proper C-AF. They can steal so much of the crowd that now buys a Canon G7X series cam for vlogging/quick behind the scenes schtuff.

It's good 'nuff for me.  
Serious question: are people complaining about this tech actually trying to make anything "for reals" with it?
If this is strictly a technical discussion, I'll disappear --but I'm operating under the assumption that some of us are actual creatives. 
Yeah, I'm feeling salty, but I do find it amusing that many shooters prone to making videos of municipal park leaves, or people walking through tourist destinations, care so much about the the barely discernible nuances and intricacies of codecs.
I don't know, maybe I shouldn't be bothered by it.  If people want to grab that tiger by the tail, go for it.  Who am I to say?
