  1. Wow. So because most white people don’t walk around feeling privileged removes the de facto privilege bestowed upon them for centuries?

And the whole “political correct thing doesn’t connect with people” is just flat out condescending. So “ordinary people” can’t be allies, ie. decent human beings informed about questions regarding social issues?

It’s so incredibly sad that these kind of topics on any forum always end up about the white man’s hurt feelings. As if the act of calling out racism is somehow inherently more hurtful than actual racism.

“Politics is obsessed about skin color”, that’s funny because I think people in general are kind of obsessed about skin color (especially Sony’s on this forum), but it’s only now when the paler shade of skin is also named, not just taken as a neutral general thing. Then all of a sudden there’s an obsession - not when you scream the n-word or more recently make jokes about East Asians with regards to the corona virus.

Nobody is trying to shame the hard working gaffer into believing anything, I think it’s more about including the hard working people of color when it comes to recognizing the industry. One doesn’t negate the other.

And then the Japan example. Always the Japan example. Let’s not go to the extremely weird exotification of this “monocultural” country where everything is so special and great because of their monoculture. Because it isn’t.

  2. I find these specs utterly laughable: 8k raw? 4k120? hahahahahah

    Oh, they posted some clarifications:

    8K @ 30fps RAW

As suggested on Twitter by a reader, this could perhaps be a timelapse feature. Things get messed up in translation and excitement.

    4K@120fps & 4K@60fps

It’s possible that the video features such as this could come with a heavy crop to get the heat down.

Ouch, I knew X-T30 had a lower limit, didn't realize it was as low as only ten minutes!!

Why Fuji why Fuji???  Protecting X-T3 sales.

I think its really down to heat managment. Lots of tests out there show that the xt30 for example overheats rather quickly, even when recording externally

    Expect:

    Slightly bigger body than X-T3

    Improved IBIS mechanism

    16bit RAW stills

    ISO 64

    6K 60P in 2.4:1 crop

I love you androidlad! I truly hope we won’t have to expect overheating issues.

  5. The guy running Fujirumors has however stated that his sources adamantly denies that the X-H2 has been scrapped. It will be released, according to them. I really don't like the rumor sites but Fujirumors usually gets it quite right.

Interesting but having to add an adapter doesn't seem superior to the A7III system?  I'd call what i'm trying to do hybrid.  My photos will be 50/50 moving vs. static.  The video will be in all sorts of lighting condition (run and gun) but I believe there will be a good amount of low light and need for clean high ISO - higher clean the better.  The biggest concern i have with the A7III is color/image quality and my biggest concern with the Z6 is ISO performance in low light.  I'm stuck between these two as I don't think the m43 or APSC size meets my goal for "look" (DOF, ISO performance, etc.)

It seems like the Z6 and A7III are the best options from what i've read/seen and you've all told me here.  That being said - any good ways to discern what would be best for me?

Are you trolling? Because you are asking for a camera that hardly exists. You want clean ISO at 12800 for stills and video and with great continuous autofocus. The only camera that would suit you is the A9 or A9ii, but then the colors are wonky and you won’t get the picture profiles. The Z6 is great in low light with regards to both video and still (I own one) but it’s far from good enough to continually track focus in low light scenarios with erratic subjects.

  7. @tomastancredi I think you should consider the Canon 90D. It’s really robust, doesn’t overheat (Gordon Laing ran 6 4K clips in a row, three hours, without problems, whereas the M6ii could only manage 40 minutes before shutting down) and lots of cheap lenses are available. The battery life is also really solid.

I tried the M6ii and really liked the image out of it, the 4k looks very cinematic and it’s possible to sharpen it nicely, but I didn’t particularly like it from a stills perspective.

  8. I have used the XT3 and the Z6 extensively and even though I ended up selling the former I still miss it for the sheer video quality it puts out. I think it definitely has the Z6 beat in that regard, the image is simply more pleasing, especially in 10bit, and the rolling shutter in 4K is less noticeable than on the Nikon.

But then again I kept the Z6, and it’s a much nicer stills camera, better past 3200 iso, feels a lot more robust in the hands, easier to switch between video and stills, has very useable autofocus and a very good IBIS.

I’ve kept some Fuji glass though...

  9. I just returned this little camera which I bought to complement my Z6 but I’ve chosen to go for the EM5iii instead.

I figured just like @Inazuma that it would make a great neat package with the pancake 22mm, and it sure did. But I couldn’t keep it because of its lacking stills features. The shutter is obnoxiously loud and clunky and there’s an apparent lag when you’ve taken a picture, almost as if the camera need some extra time to write the data to the sd-card even though I used fast uhs-II sandisks.

But for video I thought it was really nice, excellent dual pixel af, hadn’t tried it before but I do realize now where the hype comes from, I thought it was much better than both the Sony’s and Fuji’s I’ve used in the past. The ergonomics were excellent as well imho.

The digital is was also very effective and the colors, well it’s canon. But an abysmal performance photo wise I must say.

  10. I’m definitely getting the E-M5 iii, looks awesome and I like the smaller size even though the em1 with no doubt has a more comfortable grip.

Now if Olympus only would add auto-iso in video mode via firmware it would be the perfect small doc/journalist setup.

@DaveAltizer I hope you stresstest this little guy in C4K to see if doesn’t overheat :) and if the autofocus is up to or with the EM1ii

The gnarbox 2 is the real deal when it comes to this... (had it a few weeks)

As SD card back up it is 'ok fast' - seems to match it 75MB/s claims - also does a checksum to verify the back up - lets you backup to the Gnarbox and an external SSD simultaneously.

Integration with Lumafusion, Lightroom CC, Photo Mechanic (via the selects app) is spot on. Wifi transfer is fast and it lets you do usb-c transfer too (over 200MB/s on my pc.) You can do in and out points straight from the Gnarbox in Lumafusion and then it only imports the in/out footage. Wish there was better integration with Premiere Pro.

Yes, it is expensive but way better than some of the alternatives I have wasted money on (Gnarbox 1/WD passport pro).

Yes the new gnarbox looks awesome. Now I just wish LumaFusion would get it together and implement scopes and the possibility to add another more than one lut.
