leslie got a reaction from heart0less in What's your take on jumping between different aspect ratios in one video?
i read your post, and at the start, i thought i hope this guy is joking?
the web is responsible for some good things out there but adding black bars top and bottom just cheapens it for me. Just goes to prove you still need to filter lol. Admittedly you probably could throw some bars top and bottom on some footage and maybe i would be none the wiser. However that may depend on the content  if i went back and watched the batman movie again now that someone has pointed it out i would probably notice it this time because i'd be watching out for it, but those youtubes that switch to different aspect ratios no attempt seems to be made to smooth the difference,  and it just seems pretty jarring to me.
Digressing momentarily Youtube is actually starting to tick me off. i have noticed lately they now seem to be playing two ads at the start of a video one you can click on to dismiss but one will play the whole way through. Its rapidly becoming like tv. Kaylee had a thread about monetizing a channel,  and there was some talk about the monies been make have dropped off. Now with two ads at the start and ads inserted into the video it does seem like like youtube are glutinous in their appreciation of filthy lucre, for me its getting to the point id rather pay a fee to not watch advertising and get content that interests me. Heck some of that fee can even go back to content creators, it would be a win win.

I've shot over 50 Weddings with the Pocket 4K.  Never let me down.  It even got knocked to the floor twice, and kept on recording to the USB drive.  When a similar thing happened to my GH5, it shut down and the file was badly corrupted.  Best camera I've owned.  :). And to think I very nearly cancelled my pre-order last December....

Don't waste your time with LPE6 batteries, Canon or otherwise. 20 minute run-time just isn't worth the hassle, nor the embarrassment. Get some Sony NP-F970 clones and one of these https://www.ebay.com/itm/Full-Decoded-LP-E6-Dummy-Battery-NP-F970-770-Mount-Plate-Adapter-for-Canon-TK/202760180667?hash=item2f3572d3bb:g:HV4AAOSwvpVci7MT
You can mount it to the 1/4" hole on top of the P4K, or onto a shoulder rig with a rail mount like I do. You'll get 1.5 to 2 hours run-time per battery, and they cost about the same as a Canon clone.

works been a bit slow which has constrained my purchases of late. I have bought a few cheaper items like some uv filters and a cheap hood for the tokina 28-70 some smaller step up rings for a project i have in mind but more about them once they turn up. i did get a hoya digital filter for the tokina. The interesting thing about that was i found a lens rental review on 21 different protective filters from 2017, some being uv, i guess most of you would have seen it however it was new to me. there's a link to it here  for those that want to peruse it.
    https://www.lensrentals.com/blog/2017/06/the-comprehensive-ranking-of-the-major-uv-filters-on-the-market/
ots. i probably need some time with full sun to compare filter verse non filter. Its spring in a couple of days here and the first flowers on the stonefruit are out.

I went the same route and order the focal reducer with EF mount. My only advice is getting the zhongyi lens turbo ii if you only intend to use manual focus lens. The optic sits a bit deeper than viltrox and MB so it's compatible with a few more m42 lens IE. helios 44-2 or MIR-1.
A few quick still from a wedding I shot last weekend with Zhongyi and rokinon 85 1.4

im close to puling the pin  on a speed booster originally i was going to buy one to fit the tokina 28-70 in nikon mount. but thinking about it further im probably better of getting one in ef mount. that way pretty much everything can be adapted via the ef mount. At the moment i have 7 pentax m42 and the tokina. So is there any flaws in my plan

by the way does it allow the taking of stills instead of using  the kinda annoying hard to depress on camera button (well for me anyway ) ?

leslie got a reaction from GiM_6x in Canon removing 24p from new 4K mirrorless cameras - THE MEMES
So the manufacturer knows whats best for us now ? i'm not sure i agree with that view of yours, 24fps has been with us since film was invented. Its been a standard for a long time. personally i dont think removing it has anything to do with licensing fees or technical hurdles that need to be overcome they've already been there and done that. This is more about segmenting the market and bigger profits. I do have ridiculously high expectations, basically because its 2019 not 1980. If canon want me to buy a camera it needs to have all the bells and whistles, regardless of whether canon think i will need them or not. Not something that's been shot in the kneecaps and i will have outgrown in 3 months as my expectations and knowledge increase. There's a thread on here about how canon profits have plunged well if canon thinks they can keep doing dumb things like this their profits will keep plunging.
perhaps media influencers and fan boy bloggers can keep flogging these cameras to new adoptees  However all it will take is one smart blogger to say save your dollars and get the xyz camera as you'll probably outgrow your bargain basement camera in three months. so save yourself some dollars
Another point that arises is the environment, can we really afford to keep buying tiered consumer production systems ? Say you buy a cheap camera outgrow it in three months buy something newer/ better. Hand it of to your wife, sister or brother maybe even your niece, they break it after using it three times and toss it, pretty soon we are all going to be living on top of trash piles.  But the polar icecaps will have probably melted so we needed the elevation anyway ?

i got a bit fixated on the losing camera bit, completely missed the fine print about entering just for the judges category. But thats life.
I'm a bit surprised with the amount of entries or lack thereof, as i bid on 3 or 4 cameras but was out bid on everything. I was sure you guys must have been buying everything up  for the competition. The old video camera segment  of ebay must be quite abit more active than one would have thought. Too cut a long story short i ended up using a logitech c920 webcam with a letus anamorphic adapter taped to the front. My reasoning for using the letus was to help differentiate my entry from the others. i figure if speedboosters were allowed if you already had them an anamorphic should be ok as well. Not sure if anyone else shot anamorphicaly. Considering i went to the trouble of using the letus i did forget to get any footage of the lens flaring which was kinda dumb. Since my entry has proved surprisingly unlikely to win the point is moot i guess.
I'm glad i entered i learned a whole bunch of things that i can apply to the next challenge. i am fairly confident i can increase my vote rate by at least a 100% next time round ?

just attach it to your gopro it should fit the waterproof housing theres four screws  that secure it too the plastic housing. Or there's a clamp that will hold it onto the gopro lens if you dont want to use the housing.
I have 1. thats what i used on the front of  my $200 camera challenge. However i secured mine to the camera with about a meter of electrical tape. i have heard some people say it helps straighten the gopro's distortion. If it does its minimal or marginal perhaps. It will fit the 3, 3+ and 4 unsure of the 5 but it doesn't fit the 6 as i tried that and i presume it wouldn't fit the 7 either.  You may be able to modify it to fit later gopros or the gopro's themselves. However you'd probably kill the resale value if you did that. but thats for you to decide. maybe we should do our own little gopro challenge lol

separate it into its various bits (not pull it apart ). i mean disconnect the supperscope then the rangefinder. just have the red anamorphic  mounted to the taking lens, take some photos add on the rangfinder take some photos and the add the superscope by process of elimination you should be able to narrow the culprit down. Maybe try other taking lenses if you can. does your monitor allow you to de squeeze the image ? how does the image look de squeezed in post ?

that looks to be a fairly decent gouge. i guess theres some mount intolerance going on,  or maybe a pin or guide is the wrong hardness, if thats the correct wording. Id be a bit proactive and fire of a email the respective manufacturers letting them know whats happening. it may or may not be an issue. if something breaks later on or the contact wears down sufficiently you may lose functionality and be with out a camera or lens which could be a real bummer. not sure where you got the lens are you able to take it back to the retailer for them to inspect ? at least then you have covered your bases if there is an issue and or things do go pear shaped later.

Hi, congrats to all the participants. The reveal is really entertaining.
My story: Based on recent improvement with Magic Lantern I purchased an EOS M to do some experiment a month ago, then the EOSHD challenge appeared (but with the Magic Lantern restriction ?).
The EOS M was $150, still $50 left for the lens.
The easy choice was a Canon FD, Minolta Rokkor, or the mighty soviet Helios or any vintage lens under $50. But I wanted to try something "different" to stay on the challenge track. A round trip to my treasure chest (my wife has a different name for that box) and I found something quite interesting, an enlarger lens : Beseler-HD 50mm 2.8 - I remember paying something around $30 max. but after checking the invoice and I actually payed $9 + $8 shipping - Then ordered an adapter in Russia - M42x1 to Canon EOS-M for $25.
After 2 weeks, I received a snail mail with some nice Russian stamps and the adapter inside the letter. Added a 17-31 helicoid for focusing infinity and voila an unusual bokeh. Cheers.
