Really great results coming from the a7Riii compared to the Rii. There is a great rolling shutter comparison in this.

I can confirm that 5d iv 4k is almost identical to the 1dx ii and 1dc 4k. Just have that heavy crop

To show that I am trying to be open to both sides of the table here, here is a great response video to the Ben Shapiro video I posted a few days ago. Great stuff

Honestly I was pro net neutrality until I saw these. It really opened up my mind on the issue. Now Im conflicted.
Please watch them before you comment and respond with emotions. Take it in and listen to what they have to say. Its important to be educated on both sides. Like I said, Im now on the fence on whether itll be good or bad. Let me know what you think after you watch those! Really interesting stuff.

I think a7riii will be their flagship for at least two years. So you’re safe to get it now.

I submitted my rolling shutter test to the dvxuser Samuel H and the results are stunning!

a7R III 1080 FF ---- 7.7 ms

Just added the a7R III to the table. It's a very good performer: 4k FF is not bad (22.8 ms), 4k S35 is very good (16.0 ms, in line with the C200 and the BM 4.6k), and for those shots that need minimal RS, you can just swap to 1080p, which is super fast (7.7 ms in FF and 6.1 ms in S35).
For comparison, the a7S II was 30.4 ms in FF 4k mode. Nice to see these improvements rolling in.
Thanks for keeping the sample videos coming my way <3” -

Brilliant review, love the funky VHS style.
Thanks man! Just trying to make it more entertaining.

By the way how is the workflow with A7RIII proxies & FCPX? A7rII had proxies as well, but the names were different between the clips so it was useless for any proxy work.
Also brighter apertures help a lot for AF speed in low light conditions, so if events is your gig then a f/2.8 or less would make a big difference.
Honestly, I havent done any tests yet with proxy. Ill let you know. The camera is fine in low light. Unless a7S3 has some great video features like 4k at 60 and 10bit, then the a7Riii is a really great option i think!

I hear ya on the dual pixel AF point. Pulling focus on this needed a bit more attention to detail.
I think even at baked profiles, the 1dc still has a better roll off and mojo that the 1dx doesn't have.
It's magic. I have upgrading considered the 1dxmkii so many times. But its not the same when I shoot with it.
Ahhhh! You’re not making it easy for me! Lol.

Yup. Still hasn't been beat. Literally...nothing else can beat the camera in 2017 from canon. 1DX II is a little bit of a downgrade...but Im considering selling my 1DC for one just for the dual pixel AF.

Some rolling shutter tests.

Thanks for the post, but when you switched to A7Riii from canon your skin tones looked horrible. Just so redish! Is it with the profile? I was convinced to get this camera, but seeing your skin vs. canon...I'm not sure anymore. Can you help clarify what happened there please. Thanks!
I’ll do more tests. It’s not that bad. My white balance was off

First look and impressions.
So far I really love this. Sony has really refined the camera. Andrew, I give you some love for your profiles in here!

If you still have your Canon cameras it would be great to see how well you can match the colors by playing with the picture profiles. Cine2/cine4 with sgamut3.cine/cinema/pro and a boost in saturation and red color depth would be a great starting point
. Of course comparing the AF tracking between them would also be great. Rolling shutter differences between FF and S35 maybe?
Thanks, and enjoy the camera!
Yes! I still have my 1DC and 80D. Ill compare the AF to the Dual Pixel AF..and rolling shutter for sure on both 4k FF and S35 as well as 1080p FF and S35.

My a7RIII comes in today for me to do reviews on. What questions or tests do you guys have that you would like to see?

Sorry folks, I have adjusted the sensor size numbers- here is the corrected ones... ;-)
Guys,...this should "sill" blow your minds:
Sony A6500 vs. (potential) "GH5-S"
Physical sensor size and pixel count;
- Sony A6300/6500 (Sony IMX284) 24.3mp APS-C (23.6 x 15.6mm) = 368
- GH5-S - (Sony IMX294) 11mp Micro 4/3 (17.3 x 13mm) = 225
______________________________________________________
Average photosite (pixel) size;- Sony A6300/6500 = 368/24.3mp = 15.1
- GH5-S = 225/10.7mp = 21.0Compared together = 21.0/15.1 = 1.39x LARGER pixels on this "GH5-S"!
This Sony STARVIS IMX294 sensor "should" easily out perform the A6300/6500 in low light conditions. This does not even take into account the "quad pixel+ dual shutter speed" HDR modes that nobody understands yet.
This only thing that we are going to lose is the lovely 5k oversample that we all love in the GH5 today :-(
There....I think that's more accurate now! ;-)
WOW!!!!
I love your enthusiasm!!

Why would Panasonic lend the camera out to Neistat? Seems like a poor candidate to test/QC the range of features on this type of camera.
I spoke to a Panasonic Rep at NAB this year. The day before NAB Casey switched to the GH5 and talked about it in his vlog. The Panasonic rep told me that as soon as that video went up, their pre-orders on the GH5 went up 20%. That was in 24 hours back in April. I can't imagine the number of sales that have been done just from Casey since then.

Isn't increasing the saturation and color depth actually reducing the dynamic range?
I was thinking it was supposed to be left at default values, adjusted in post, and the only and most important thing about sLog2 is to overexpose by 2 stops.I made this profile before the EOSHD Sony 3.0 profile was out. If you want the best image use his profile. It looks the best.

The thing that blows my mind is that no amount of money can buy you a small dslr sized camera, with a flip out screen, that shoots at least 4k at 60fps, and also takes stills... has good autofocus. I don’t care how much it costs. I need a SMALL dslr sized photo/ video hybrid with RELIABLE AF. It’s a HUGE need in the marketplace because of the YouTube revolution.
If the GH5s shoots 4k up to 60fps, and has reliable autofocus... I don’t care how much it costs, I NEED that tool for my job and there is literally not a single camera that fills that need right now.

Can we please just have DPAF. Please God that’s all I want lol

I love it! Great setup!
The struggle I am having is the constant battle of production value and execution. I have found that when it comes to camera and tech reviews, you sorta have to have good production quality because the people watching it expect it. But the vloggers and YouTubers who are literally making millions of dollars a month have crap production quality because the vast majority of their viewers couldn't care less.
Canon 1DC vs Canon 5D Mark IV

Ive done tests and have found when it comes to baked in profiles the 5DIV actually appears to have better IQ than 1DC. I should do a real review/test and see. I haven't tested the 5DIV Canon Log yet. Im sure its great
