Not to self promote but I think this is an underrated video on the quality standpoint. For whatever reason it didn't get many views for us. The Inspire 2/Zenmuse X7 with the 50mm lens combo is just...crazy. The parralax creates a look that's closing in on full size helicopter stuff.
This was for a company to see how Inspire 2 footage upscales to 8K using AI for both resolution and framerates.

I for one prefer a larger camera because the weight makes hand holding steadier but you want to know what I don't believe in? External recorders. For me it has nothing to do with weight or size, it has to do with one more thing that can go wrong, more wires to carry, more batteries to charge, and external recorders are a single point of failure if their hard drive gets corrupt. I agree with @MrSMW and @Phil A as a hybrid shooter every single extra piece of equipment becomes a PITA when on set as a hybrid solo shooter.

For my use case I am almost always shooting solo, on a single shoot I could be dealing with light stands, studio strobes, remote flash triggers, photo camera body and diffusers; I could also be shooting video clips from a tripod or handheld, monopod, and sometimes gimbal.....mixed into all of that of course are lenses, expo discs, ND filters, and sometimes audio which includes lavs, XLR adapters, and transmitters / receivers or XLR wiring. Lets not forget continuous video lighting, smoke machines etc.. let's not forget the obligatory drone which is needed for a few big picture drone video clips, and if a timelapse is needed that's a 3rd camera body, and lets not forget underwater if its a lifestyle shoot that wants to showcase their pool or a modeling swimwear shoot so that's a 4th camera body....all as a one man shooter.
So you ask what has happened over the last decade? What happened is customers expect more than ever before but at the same time they pay less than ever before.  In my particular area the local market is saturated with photographers and videographers all under cutting each other bidding on the same clients; those same clients that half the time feel like cell phone footage is probably good enough anyway so why bother hiring us to begin with. So yes, I absolutely will gladly use the absolute smallest simplest configuration possible to get the job done.  This is why I got the S5, this is why I have an EF adapter to minimize my lens kit, this is why I don't use anything external if I can help it including recorders or even monitors, and this is also why I don't care as much about RAW as I do about 4K 10 bit internally recorded. Yes BRAW 12:1 would be nice when its time to edit the footage but 10bit 4K recorded internally to dual cards is WAY more important to me as is a single lens mount that will work on everything from my C200 to my 5DIV to my S5.

Specs are great to read about or watch on YouTube. but they are a tiny part of the big picture and the realities you face working in this industry every day. And I'm not talking about the big name commercial production industry, I'm talking about the in between industry where you are a shooter like me shooting weddings, music videos, small business promo videos, corporate events, real estate marketing videos, etc. There is a ton of paying work in this space that simply doesn't pay quite enough to bring in entire teams and assistants.

This could have been interesting but:
    1. Too expensive. It's around the same price as the GH5S, yet has no screen, no evf, no battery and - presumably - no strap or charger. So WTF, Panasonic - should be cheaper, if anything?
    2. The reason we always get for the lack of internal NDs in hybrid cameras is a lack of space. No NDs in this - why?

Exactly, I always laugh at people who say IBIS is useless or real cameramen don't need IBIS. The reality is its great when its needed and the best part is it can be turned off when its not needed. When I am shooting real estate videos with wide angle lenses on a gimbal the last thing you want is IBIS on. It is much better to stabilize in post than to try to stabilize wobbly IBIS footage (i.e. impossible).

On the other hand when I am in the middle of a big event and need to hand hold some b roll footage  with a tiny GH5 then for me at least the footage would be unusable without IBIS. Even with IBIS, proper technique, a cage, top handle, and mic, my GH5 is simply not heavy enough to get rid of my shakiness.  The C200 is a different story, I love hand holding it with the cage, top monitor, top handle, V mount battery,  Canon battery, Canon grip and I added a second grip to the left side.  After I tuck that battery under my arm I feel like I can shoot anything handheld.

I think IBIS and AF are both very overrated for video but both are great tools in scenarios where they work well. I always like having more options (as long as I can also turn them off) then not having an option that would make my life easier in a certain scenario.

    So the rumored specs are:
30MP BSI CMOS Sensor (IMX 554 DQC) BIONZ X Image Processor Continuous shooting speed @ 15FPS, 10 FPS AF/AE UHD 4K60p  with HLG & S-Log3 Gammas Full HD 120fps vari-angle articulating screen 3.69m-dot Quad-VGA OLED Tru-Finder Dual SD memory card slots USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C, micro-USB port,  3.5mm microphone input Magnesium alloy chassis NP-FZ100 battery I would prefer this camera over A7S3 for couple of reasons:
    - price (it should be in 2000-2500$ ballpark)
    - 30 mp sensor vs 12, which gives me better photo, better 4k and most importantly apc-s crop mode for video.
    - I dont really need 4k120 that much
    - I dont need killer evf of A7S3, I rarely use it

Actually its 1500$ for basically the same camera.

That's a very stretched out rumor. Nobody will plan a camera release based on that possibility.

Remember that you can Z-cam with 4k160, RAW and WDR for 1500$, so Panasonic need to answer that.

I still think Panasonic needs to price this camera down close to 1500$ and not 2000$
Mainly due to not having a competitive AF. Than comes 4k60 in APC-S only. If the new Sony A7C has FF 4k60 and sells a bit over 2000, than it would be extremely hard for Pana to compete with that.
Another problem - absence of cheap 1.8 lenses. Sony has the best FF lens lineup currently.
If Canon fixes their overheating scam (or ML does it for them), then R6 is another strong competitor.

Amazeballs reacted to currensheldon in Panasonic EVA-2 Wish List
In my opinion, Panasonic makes the best cameras with the best IQ (especially video IQ) in the business. They are reliable, packed full of features, ergonomically nearly perfect, and just fantastic to use. The S1 and S1H (and seemingly the S5) are the most useful mirrorless tools and the S1H in particular is a brilliant video camera.
But Panasonic needs to go all-out with L-Mount NOW, because Canon and Sony are going gangbusters with camera releases. With the C70 RF and Sony FX6 coming out soon, Panasonic needs to release an EVA-2 ASAP and load it with features to solidify the L-Mount. The EVA-2 has to be an FS7-type release, where they give out features that no other manufacturer has at that price point. Main competition will obviously be the C300 III, FX9, FX6, and C70.
Here is what I think they need to do:
    - Release EVA-2 with L-Mount
    - FULL FRAME - has to be.
    - 120-180fps in 4k (C300 III and C70 does this, but has a Super35 sensor)
    - IBIS - first ever in a cinema camera and make it LOCKABLE (I know cinema cameras "NEVER!" have IBIS, but I think the market would love it).
    - Dual ISO (640 and 4000)
    - 12-bit codec - Codecs in EVA-2 and S1H and 5.9k ProRes Raw output are great - internal raw would be excellent but maybe not possible. An internal 12-bit codec would be awesome though.
    - PDAF - I don't care as much about AF, but the market demands it. At least the S5 AF in the EVA-2.
    - Compact Body - Make it smaller, more like the FS5 sized than EVA-1
    - $7499 - Same price as EVA-1 and WAY below any full-frame cinema camera with these specs. Could even go closer to the FX9 ($10k even) with these specs.
If they put out a pretty standard Super35 camera with 4k 60fps and raw out (basically an EVA-1 with L-Mount), they're not going to gain much traction. They need a GH5-level release (2-3 years ahead of the competition on specs) but in full-frame. The FS7 changed the trajectory for Sony and wasn't matched on specs and price until the EVA-1, nearly 3-4 years later. They need THAT type of camera now.
