JurijTurnsek got a reaction from newfoundmass in A6700 - FX30 sensor đź‘€
Overheating is a big issue because you might be doing a set of 120p short takes (let say up to 30 seconds or so) and that heat won't dissipate quick enough. Same goes for 60p. You might be doing 5 minutes per clip only, but you might do them in quick succession and the heat isn't going anywhere.
This camera is a very disappointing release. Makes me wonder if Sony is truly unable to come up with something better or are they just trying to protect their FF and Cine lines.

JurijTurnsek got a reaction from IronFilm in Sony New Camera Launch - 29th March 2023
Sony missed a huge opportunity here - could've added some front facing cooling fans for that sexy "hair in the wind" look for vloggers and solved the overheating issue.

But Amazon have almost infinity storage. They could keep the site open as an archive.
(but probably they won´t because will remember everyone that they killed it)

JurijTurnsek reacted to MrSMW in Canon EOS R7 and R10 have released...
Somewhere, someone is asking the question, “this or the new Arri? I shoot kids sports games, cats and feature films”.

I was in the market for a a6400, but couldn't find any in stock. But with these new Canons, I feel like Sony is way overdue for a new APS-C sensor with 4K60p, uncropped please.

JurijTurnsek got a reaction from kye in Sony CineAlta Venice 2 8.6K Cinema Camera
Sony should get in on some of that sweet LiDAR action then.

JurijTurnsek got a reaction from Emanuel in Sony Xperia PRO-I comes with 1-inch 24mm f/2.0 main camera
Kinda sucks that Sony branded the phone as PRO-I(maging) and then compromised on the camera bump thickness to crop the properly big sensor. With a price like that it should be a no-compromise imaging monster.
Interesting though, that the sensor is capable of 4K120p and GSMArena claims it is the same one as in the RX series.

JurijTurnsek got a reaction from Emanuel in Apple is Coming For Y'all: Disruptive Video Production Technologies
Pixel 6 is official and both models (starting from $599) have a bigger sensor than the iPhone 13 Pro duo and can even do 4-to-1 binning. This enables it to do HDR 4K60p, so I can't wait for the reviews. Previous iterations were very "meh".

JurijTurnsek got a reaction from Emanuel in IMX800 1-inch sensor — Are we nearing the end of dedicated consumer cameras?
One of the more striking changes that the smartphones brought, is that the 23mm-ish FOV is now the new "normal" and everything above it labeled at "tele".

The new OnePlus and Huawei P50 look like they will have very good sensor specs. That takes care of the UWA and WA modules, but to tackle the telephoto lenses, someone will have to bring the extending lens design back and bet on a (very) thick camera hump. With every company just drowning in the dozens of models they offer, one should be a premium photo-first device.

JurijTurnsek got a reaction from IronFilm in Nikon 8K mirrorless camera (Sony A1 clone)
A Nikon A1 clone has all the chances of being the better (selling?) product:
1. Sony bodies has always been criticized for subpar ergonomics, menus etc.
2. Compete on price, Sony is very expensive.
3. No cinema line to protect, so lots of video features.
4. Nikon colors may suit some people more than Sony's.
5. Make big claims about weather sealing.
6. AF should be reasonably good, it doesn't not need to be every superlative ever conceived.
7. The market is in no rush for 8K, so take the time to make a really robust implementation.
8. Do some A1 user research, see what they dislike and like after using it.

JurijTurnsek got a reaction from IronFilm in SONY FX3 new camera to be announced
For a cinema camera, a tilting-screen would make sense or is vertical video production really that important?
-
JurijTurnsek got a reaction from Simon Young in SONY FX3 new camera to be announced
Why would a vent be needed when a7S already has no overheating? Maybe a sensor with more mp and oversampling?

JurijTurnsek reacted to Tim Sewell in $6000 cameras could be the norm soon?
It's hard to say it's gone wrong. It's so-called creative destruction. There's simply no need for a mass consumer camera market any more. Every home used to have a camera, be it a compact, a SLR, a Polaroid or whatever. No-one needs those any more because everybody (even the children) has a phone that will take better snaps with fewer skills, in a format that allows instant sharing.

I won't, this is not a mass market product.

JurijTurnsek got a reaction from gt3rs in Sony Product Announcement - 26/01/21
Yes, the 30 fps is LOSSY compression not LOSSLESS. That is the compressed RAW that all Sonys did until now (A1 is the first with LOSSLESS compressed RAW).

No, sorry. The lens cover comes off, not the lens. On the Hero8 the lens cover could not be removed.

JurijTurnsek got a reaction from Kisaha in Canon EOS R5 has serious overheating issues – in both 4K and 8K
The fact of the matter is that in 2020, 4K RAW with no overheating would be much more useful for many professionals and the high resolution sensors should be given to specialty lines and not the workhorse FF body.
Now you have a superb stills camera, that will suffer from sub-optimal 4K modes and a "halo" 8K (RAW) mode that is going to be to burdensome for a lot of users to take full advantage off.

It would be funny if this turns out to be, spec-wise, the ultimate vlogging camera.

JurijTurnsek reacted to heart0less in Google's YouTube monopoly
And here I am, in my early twenties - so I'm technically a millennial / Generation Y - with my my strong preference towards written word.
I deeply hate the fact that people nowadays tend to turn their blogs into vlogs, etc.
For me, having to go to YouTube for a piece of information that could be put clearly in two or three sentences is one of the plagues of 21st century.
I understand that our hobby - cameras and stuff related to them - is a visual hobby and words can't always be used to show what we mean or to share what we managed to create using our babies.
Nonetheless, I think that over 30% of YouTube content could easily be transcribed and deprived of audio-visual stimuli and we, as viewers, would only gain from it.
It's just terribly tiring, how much shit, unneeded clutter there is to almost everything.
You could say that you save your time, because there are no ads per se, but the amount of in-video marketing and advertising, etc. is terrifying.
Â
But still, not every channel is like this and, surely, there are some that are really worth being subscribed to.
The amount of knowledge that can be found on YT (if you know what you're looking for) is invaluable and often can't be put into words that easily.
Â
It's a tough nut to crack.
