I am all for open source, but the data rates of Prores are at least half of that of cinemaDNG Raw. Even if we take the efficiency of post-processing out of the way, supporting a 4K 120p data stream of cinemaDNG raw will be unlikely. With prores RAW you at least have a chance.
But it doesn't matter, any of the two would be miles better compared to what has come out of that camera until now. My best guess is that they will not include any and within few months they will cut the price of this camera in half. And if they don't improve the quality somehow, it will be a hard sell even then.

I agree with the general Panasonic wave here. RX100 line might be tech rich but the 5' rec limit & overheating can be a real problem if video is the primary use.

Or Cinema DNG 1:4 which is opensource as well. Would bypass the horrible (probably the worst I've seen in years) processing as well.

You are right I was thinking of the uncompressed RAW.

Yep that camera is really expensive. If they had included a mic input and the fast f/1.8 I would seriously think of spending the cash, but as is , the camera is a hard sell for video.
I believe there is still market for large sensor compacts. 1"-m4/3 sensors are quite unique in the sense that they offer the best balance between size & quality. For example an action camera version of the RX100VI with a fixed bright lens would be great as well.
LX200 can't arrive fast enough. Add mic input and the new 20MP sensor and it should be enough. I wouldn't even mind if it offered oversampled high bitrate 1080p instead of 4K.

Wish they'd gone for a shorter zoom range and faster F stop like the earlier models.
And STILL no mic input. Sigh.
The RX100 line up would be so perfect as a vlog machine if only it had a mic input to go with a flip up screen

Can't say I am not in the same boat as you. I consider your steps the "brute force" method which many times we just have to go through.
What I find helps immensely is having an idea of the end result before you even shoot it. Makes both shooting and editing more fun/easier/faster.
If you already got the footage, instead of looking at the footage to determine what moments you need to include, try to mentally recollect moments of the event. Our imagination is really good at making good stories but most often external information restricts it.
Music can be inspirational as well. Many times I hear a song my imagination runs wild and all the just shots fall in place.
    Hope it helps.

A properly sampled 2K/1080p with enough bitrate can go long way. Most often I shoot 4K to get a proper 1080p image. Thats why I wish all companies offered something similar to what GH5/s offers. An oversampled 1080p intra-frame high bitrate file.

Looking back I owe everyone a big thank-you for using the forum and taking an interest in the blog, it is amazing what it has turned into with so little effort on my part  I think this place must be the only website on the entire internet without adverts. Long may it continue like that.
Got a GX9 arriving tomorrow... about time I did a review of something cheap with the big shift to high-end stuff. Let me know what you'd like to see in the review of it.

They both have about the same low light performance with an APS-C crop.
Rolling shutter is better on the A7rII and you can use the FF 4K as well for reduced rolling shutter and shallow DoF shots.
The FF 1080p from A7rII is very good as well.
The stills that you can get from A7rII are amazing.
Between the two, get the A7rII. But I would still try to save up for the A7III. You will gain better low light, better AF, better colors, amazing battery life, better slomo, faster to operate.
For example as others have said, you can sell your A7II higher at other places like ebay/fredmirranda/craigslist.

Don Kotlos got a reaction from Kisaha in Sony A7S Mark 3 - What to expect
Looks like a low megapixel sensor and no 10bit:
    – Fs series suffer from the success of A7 series (30% of the pro market)S
    – They can’t implement 10bits 4k in FS5II because this needs to much power consumption, it is not a marketing choice.A
    – 10 bits 4k will be for the next FS generation R
    – A7sIII is coming soon, but it’s the most hiden secret, even in internal Sony teams
    – A7sIII will keep the same “identity”: low resolution sensor and extreme low light capabilities. Usuable High ISO are more important than oversampling.
