It seems the Pana has adopted Sony's pattern in their mirrorless names. We have a plain S1 and S1R so maybe a model named S1S will follow later this year just as G5S came after GH5. I haven't seen a single rumour about this yet but it's very logical and possible to happen. Maybe they are waiting for A7 SIII to come out and then fight back.
Given the fact that the pricing is on par with Sony, making them serious investments, i wouldn't buy any of these two at the moment (maybe a second GH5 would be a better purchase).
Also, the pricing of the 3 new lenses is not competitive at all. These are normal prices for full frame lens but quite expensive for Lumix users that will make the jump into the new system. The new 50mm lens is seriously overpriced. I am curious though to see the build quality, hoping that it will be a step up from Pana's MFT line with their lame plastics.

I haven’t been this excited about a camera launch in a long time. I’ve been hoping for a full frame camera with GH5 specs for awhile. Hoping the XLR adapter is compatible and maybe has a surprise or two like internal NDs...
I’m  a bit worried now that maybe their “Without Compromise” is really for photos and they may only offer 10-bit via HDMI.
though the EVA-1 update gives me hope that this will have 10-bit H265 internal. Perhaps raw out in the future like the Nikon.

I don't care it will sell or not.. I'm sure it will put pressure on big three, especially Sony, and that's the only thing matters.

Spoken like a true Sony fanboy. This camera is a dud. Sony pulled a Canon by recycling the same 3-year-old sensor that already had issues with its abysmal RS.
    $100 cut ain't fixing that.

I shoot photo and video professionally and I'm heavily invested in M43. Had the opportunity to go full frame a month or so back but chose to stick with M43 (GH4). Just so dam convenient, compact, amazing battery life, easy menus etc etc. The key is good glass. I'm 100% native glass too (I have everything from wide to Tele and everything in between but the nocticron Basically lives on my gh4. That lens is the key to amazing photos and video on m43 and is the main reason I was convinced to stay with the system!

Juank reacted to TheRenaissanceMan in I might get the C200
Just did my first shoot with the C200. A few observations:
-It's a small, weird little body. Taller, and maybe even fatter, than it is long. Strange ergonomic choice if you want to get it on the shoulder. Still, the dedicated buttons cover all the essential tools/controls and are easy to find...except the strangely placed operator-side record button, which is hard to find by feel. Comes into play when you're jammed in a little closet.
-With Wide DR gamma and Production Camera matrix, the tones and color palette are lovely straight out of the camera. Particularly in mixed lighting, the Canon pumps out predictably pretty results. Can't speak to their accuracy, but for a sentimental narrative it was just what the doctor ordered.
-The new 2K XF-AVC is a weak codec. Looks nice with no corrections or grading, but falls apart quickly if you biff your white balance or start to mess around in Resolve/Lumetri. Still, it's nice to have the extra metadata, and they make good dailies/proxies to use until we circle back and link up the RAW Lite files (which we haven't touched yet).
-The viewfinder is nice and usable. Not nearly as good as the incomparable C700 EVF, but that costs about as much as the C200. ? For a built in, it does exactly what I need--show an accurate enough, sharp enough picture to operate and review with. The tilt was nice too, especially since I LOVE low angles.
-RAW Lite chews through CFast cards like nothing. 128GB cards gave us 15mins each. Now I know how film shooters feel with their limited mag sizes. It didn't hold us back too much this time, but our future days will have longer, more complex takes, and I don't relish the idea of nervously watching our card time tick down.
-It's a nice light camera, and moves around easily. In my case, I really prefer more mass to keep things uber steady. Might have to rig her up a bit more for our next go around.
-I was fighting the fading sunlight in our last scene of the day (these damn, short Wisconsin days...), but I didn't seem to suffer too much penalty for bumping up to ISO 1600/2000 for our last couple shots. A little NR should take care of it. Ultimately, I think it'll actually be less noticable than the blue shift in the window light. Hopefully I can color it out convincingly.
I'll end with a few stills for your perusal, but...for the price, it really is an easy, simple little camera. If the RAW punches as hard as I've heard, then the ease of use vs strength of results ratio is very impressive. I have mixed feelings on the body, but as a nice cheap rental, it delivered exactly what I needed.

Look very cool on paper, If I could justify the cost, It  would probably be my top pick,
but full frame without autofocus is a pain if you are a solo operator, and to shoot with a lens longer than  50mm.
I run a7iii+ninja V +batis , I would be curious to compare the IQ of the mavo vs my setup.

I think the mavo lf is a bit like the Red raven, too cheap for big production, too expensive for small production.

Speaking about the Raven I m doing the post production of a short shoot on it, colors are nice but I m not impressed by the noise performance/DR, it s hard to justify the price of it.

Thank you! I'd certainly like to do that, now that V3 is out
That's a way to do it, ironically its just as tricky (cam to cam, vs profile to profile)
@hypp Others could probably better speak to the resources out there. I highly recommend shooting films and diving in headfirst, its a great bootcamp (the method to my madness)
I'd especially like to emphasize luminance placement, which has perhaps the single biggest effect on image perception. Conform to cinema standard luminance, and things really start to click. Read through the second half of page 2 of the Pdf, and study these waveforms

Kye, I'm afraid I have not too usable advice about VFR modes - so far I'm not using slow motion for my needs, except very rarely 60p, and that just because of better stabilization or exposure controlling usage - saying that, as far as I know you can use HLG mod in 60p... But I'm sure Jon Pais have all answers.
As I already mentioned, I tend to treat any camera as much as possible as base cinema type with as low as possible bothering with settings - even thinking about AF buttons looks too complicated to me (besides being uninspiring)... Just set ISO and WB, HLG without bothering with lowering sharpening and NR and other settings, as often as possible just 24p, always MF lenses, etc. - sparing all precious time/concentration for evaluating composition of image. And enjoying/trying to master manual focusing precision... that's I'm always shooting with Atomos recorders and why level of smoothness and extremely precise linear focusing respond are, for me, the most important feature searched in lenses.
What I missed from BM cameras is corrective advantage of raw files. 10bit image of GH5 offer indeed great and enough flexibility in post, however you have to think about close-to-proper WB... but I tend not to think about anything, just about picture in front of me.
In GH5 you are safe up to iso 1600 although in dark conditions there are always some grains above iso 400 but it is very fine and often even desirable. BTW after all talks and personal testing, for me that's where finished GH5s difference - in GH5s you are safe up to iso 3200... of course, I'm talking about aesthetically and professionally most demanding shooting scenarios. Some kind of NR can spread range in one stop above respectively... Internal GH5s NR becomes too aggressive above iso 3200 and image, especially with humans, looks too cheap and plastic.
Color science... GHa is a little marvel of devotion and knowledge. Combine it with Resolve's precise grading instruments and you can mimic quality of look of any high end cinema camera for exporting in HD resolution. That's one of the wonderful example when progress in technical side of simulation capability (anatomy of color, digital achievements in providing its impressions) and person's know-how, beat market position. Yes, today you can shoot totally competitive movie with GH5, as also with Fuji XX or Sony A7iii or Canon-Mercer etc..
If you are UK located, I've found that Ex-Pro newer type of battery (those with bigger capacity) are perfect for replacing original one, as also for Sony battery for Atomos recorders...
(And in UK you can buy new GH5s for about 1850-1900e at the moment, GH5 for 1380, order Pocket 4K for 1350e...)
EDIT: As idea, if you already didn't find it - you can map all important settings just in joystick's positions! I don't know if it is possible with other cameras, but that's  so great for lazy persons like me...

For me it is a simple equation..  if you want IBIS for use with MF / vintage / cine primes then this is the camera.
I think that "50 reasons" video is quite compelling..  partly because it wasn't 7 reasons, and because the reasons were "it has feature X and P4K doesn't", not the usual "feature X is 7% better" that these videos are normally full of.
The fact that "It's also a stills camera" was only one of the reasons was quite telling I think!!
