But Im not crying about it, because Im sure it will suite others very well.

Come on Mattias, are we reading different posts or what because reading this thread I didn't get the impression that the lack of 24p is the end of the world. I did get the impression that it's silly that it's not there, that there's zero technical reasons why it's not there, that it's just Canon being " WE wANt TO PrOtect the CinemA linE "

I, just like you, shoot in 25/50 because that's the EU standard, I don't think I've ever shot in 24 on my GH5. However if it didn't have that option, I'd be the first one to write "wtf panasonic why can you do 25fps but not literally one frame less?" Not because I actually need it, but because I feel like it's such a standard feature that it should be implemented.

What’s up with all the Canon hate? Getting a bit old no?

you're mistaking hate with making fun of which is justified

The 24p thing is a tradition. It’s a habit. It’s an aesthetic. Aesthetic norms always evolve. And so they should.

The lack of 24p is funny because it's literally one frame less than 25p which you can shoot. So what about 24p makes it impossible to write? Nothing. It's entirely doable. They've done it in the past. They can do it now.

Why isn't it there then? Because they're stupid. And this is why we're making fun of Canon.

I agree with @Mattias Burling, this doesn’t really “sell” the quality of the camera. In fact, the entire footage page they published doesn’t either. Could easily be filmed with a GH5 and I wouldn’t notice.

This is mostly down to the filmmakers though and not the camera, however it’s clear that the gulf between camera quality is much less and pretty much every new release doesn’t have that “special sauce” to differentiate them enough.

I like Blackmagic but they should go to a modular ZCAM box design. The poor battery, fixed screen and odd shape make it a no-go for me. This would be an absolute no brainer if you could just pull it out the box and shoot without having to bolt on a few bricks to make it work reliably.

Lots of options these days - but also in these days I’m thinking far less about my cameras choices than ever.

I've seen stuff shot with the GH5 that made me wonder if they bought a counterfeit copy with Canon 550D sensor or something. I've also seen stuff shot with the GH5 that made ME wonder what's wrong with my camera that it doesn't shoot as pretty as their does.

Point is - while this sample really does look videoish, the samples provided by BM on their website look a lot better.

  4. A moderator should really sweep by this thread and remove all of the off-topic politics shit. I'm here to escape from the bullshit and talk cameras.

Well the ursa mini pro can remove its mount (to swap between EF, PL, B4 and F mount) which enables you to install the speedbooster internal, you can not do this with the pocket 6K.

The comment didn't say "it can't be done on pocket 6k" but that it can't be done on ef mount cameras all together. This is why I mentioned Ursa mini pro just as a fun fact, not a "there's speedbooster coming to the pocket 100% confirmed "

well no it doesn't really help.

i am more in the need of infos about powering or not. the link provided by adam doesn't help me much as i am not sure fuji acts like canon.

Literally on the same website there's a section about Fujifilm - https://www.doc-diy.net/photo/remote_pinout/#fuji

AFAIK it's being powered by the camera.

Also check this out - https://www.fujix-forum.com/threads/diy-x-t1-wired-remote-release-for-bulb-mode.21852/

Or just search for a "diy shutter release"

  7. I did this back on my Canon 600D and it worked by mapping half-shutter/focus button to start-recording (with Magic Lantern) and then using the remote jack to send the input. I don't remember the exact tutorial I followed but this one seem correct - https://www.doc-diy.net/photo/eos_wired_remote/  It was a really simple thing to do and worked exactly as I wanted.

I imagine that with something like a GH5 which triggers recording with the shutter button it would work essentially the same. Should be similar on the X-T3

Do you keep saturation at 0?  People have said it results in color channel clipping. Also does flattening natural increase dynamic range?  Or is that only with CineD?

Yep, everything at 0. Never had any issues with it and I've learned to not listen to what people are saying ?

Not too sure about that since I keep mine at 0 ?

  9. CineD standard - it's the perfect balance between flat enough to give me some options in post and not too flat that grading is a nightmare with that 8bit codec.

For vlogs and quick videos natural standard is the best.
