Your just coming up with excuses. That is what separates the men from the boys. That is why some peoples stuff stand out.

This made me laugh more than you think. Especially that line about men and the boys, because boys with their smaller hands would have less trouble focusing on the 20mm than man.

And yes the Tokina 11-16 is a nice lens. But I would not call 22mm on a m4/3 body really wide in this day and age.

I understand you were sitting in a cave for the past 5-10 years so I'll enlighten you - there are those things called speedboosters and they magically make the 11-16 a 16-28 ff equivalent. So pretty close to "seeing the light" as you said ;)

    . I would go the 20mm f1.7 myself.

manual focusing on that lens is nightmare, especially with a bigger body like the GH5

I’m looking for a 12mm prime and have narrowed down my options to the Samyang/Rokinon cine, the SLR Magic 12mm 1.6 or the Olympus 12mm f/2.

Get the Samyang/Rokinon 12mm f/2 - cheap, nice and sharp

Just buy the Olympus 7-14mm f2.8 lens and be done with it. Once you go Really wide you are hooked. For Video wide is a no brainer.

That is until you'll need an VND filter, which you can't mount on it. For wide angles, the Tokina 11-16 (or 11-20) on the speedbooster is the better choice.

  3. The commercial (and all the videos by various youtubers that were there) are amazing, but the product itself.. it feels like it's just there so you can tag #anamorphicdrone on your instagram post. I don't see any difference in the day shots, and about night shots.. I don't think I've shot bright light sources shining directly into the lens at night with my drone.

    changemymind?

If you didn't know Puget Systems is one of the few companies who sell workstations that they actually test and benchmark. Their blog posts and comparisons were always my go to for concrete and accurate information whenever I wanted to build a new PC or upgrade my previous one.

Now the benchmark that they use to test their configuration has been opened to public, so anyone can do the tests.

This is exactly what scaling is, a digital magnifying glass. You practically "zoom in" because the monitor is too small for its resolution and you can't see a thing..how are you getting the "full benefit" when you have to zoom in and out accordingly? Even in my 27" 1440 monitors I "zoom in" daily, I tried 27" 4K before and it was a nightmare, I had to re-adjust constantly.

Wait.. what? I don't think you understand. No, you don't zoom in the whole image (that's what changing resolution would do), you only scale up the UI (by changing DPI), without touching anything else. You don't have to zoom in and out constantly lol, you just set it to 150% and forget it. You can even individually scale different monitors, so that the UI size remains the same no matter if you're on a 4k or 1440p screen.

    Just try it yourself man

Scaling would be for UI only, right? You could still watch native, unscaled UHD content but have 150% UI, correct?

Hmm interesting. Have to think about that lol. Yeah it would appear you are right it looks like.

Of course! I don't mean scaling by changing the native resolution, I mean using Windows scale feature to scale the UI. You get the full benefits of working with native 4k screen while not having to use a magnifying glass to see the UI.

Are you sure you want 4K resolution on a 27" screen? Have you ever worked with such a configuration? For me the 27" monitors max at 1440.

Kisaha is right, you can not do 4K on a 27" monitor. It is Crazy small. It won't scale worth using. Like he said, 2K max. You would have to be 12 years old to read 4K on it.

Yeah, I have one at work and it's the perfect size. You guys know you can scale in Windows? 150% scale is the best and there are 0 issues with that.

  8. Man, I'm in the process of researching new 4k 27inch screen for myself and my conclusion is: there are way too many models and each one of them has something wrong with them. Not missing, wrong. One is a TN panel, other has IPS Glow, next one suffers from backlight bleed, and the one after that loses color accuracy after a week of use.

Currently I settled on LG 27UK650-W which supposedly is almost perfect.

  9. Honestly you can see the flicker on my GH5, but only if you actively look for it. I've had many instances where I was just running and gunning and didn't notice it.

By the way, for those using Linear, I am recommending a blanket desaturation to 90% following the conversion, until the next update is released

    Thanks a ton!

Actually I found that at least with this specific client they like a saturation boost like the one I did in the video above. Same with using linear - the lowered highlights looked unnatural to them.

  11. Here's my recent video for a local culture organisation. The whole idea behind the event was to set up in 4 places in Wrocław at the same time and engage local communites in playing and singing songs.

Shot on G80 in CineD, graded with CineD to VLOG PRE and GHa Daylight (Linear). Minimal adjustments done after.

    I absolutely love the results!

    Cool!!

Stop thinking about cameras, and start thinking about making awesome films.

I do! I've been using my G80 both on YouTube and professionally and it's been working just fine but I figured with some cash flow I can finally realize my dream of owning the GH5 :)
