The grass always looks greener, but often it tastes just as bad, but in a different way

You're completely right and I've decided I need to borrow one from a friend, shoot some stuff and see if it works for me. Not gonna switch because of a feeling ?

Up at the top, click "Sync * A005_12070220_C002.braw"

Then there are no BRAW settings since I'm targeting the timeline clip, not the master one.

I've found it fixes itself after restarting Premiere and reimporting the clip but then for some reason breaks again after a couple of minutes.

That´s unfortunate. When I´m recording concerts I´ll expose for the brightest moments or at least for the spotlight on the singer. Those animated light-shows can really be all over the place, but that way I can have as much control as possible. Thanks for sharing that lesson, nevertheless!

Yeah he should've done that but relied too much on the RAW thing and that was the result..

On the other hand why is BRAW settings not working on this clip? Can't select anything

  4. Last weekend I shot a concert with my friend, myself on the GH5 and him on the Pocket 4k. After the first rehersal when we were setting up the shot, he came up to me and said "you know what the lights are all over the place so I'm just gonna set the exposure for the darkest moments and shoot BRAW so when the lights hit you'll be able to just bring down the exposure with ISO setting". I didn't know too much about shooting on the Pocket so I agreed and off we went.

Well, it turns out when you shoot above 1250, you can't go lower than that since it's when the second ISO gain engages. It's something I had no idea about (since I shoot on the GH5) and he neither (since he never shot above that before). Now I'm stuck with overexposed shots and an understandably mad client. So learn on my lesson and don't do that.. Or you know, read the friking manual like you should.

  5. DAE find it super stupid that the GH5 doesn't record audio for the first like 5 frames or something? One one hand it's cool that they didn't just lag it out and if I need to get a split second shot those frames are there but having to cut each clip's beginning is kinda tedious

For those using GHa on the GH5, how hard is it to shoot run and gun footage with this capture flow?

For example, not always possible to white balance with a grey card. Using zebras primarily to judge exposure. Natural light etc...

Ive been using Paul Leemings LUT with HLG and it’s pretty good but the highlight roll off of GHA is attractive.

My workflow is to capture log or HLG use a transformation LUT to get to a Rec.709 and then I grade from there with a finishing LUT. I don’t like to fuss so much with crazy grades. I just want a flexible capture with great highlight roll off that gives me a great base.

Here's something I shot run n gun style and I just set the whitebalance to daylight for the whole day. Bear in mind this video was made on the G80 in CineD and then I used CinedD -> vlog pre lut and GHa Daylight Linear for grade

Those rumour sites are a joke.

Nah, they're fine, you just need to take everything with a huge grain of salt. The main problem with them is that people read a rumor and not only think it's 100% confirmed, they extrapolate whatever their dreams are from it. Like that recent firmware update from Panasonic - all 43rumors said that it's major and it's coming, yet people took it as "OMG GH5 6K RAW UPDATE CONFIRMED GUYS SELL YOUR POCKET CAMERAS NEW KING IS COMING"..

It's a pity the Google Captcha and email verification aren't enough to stop them creating an account in the first place.

You're invited to watch the film (or trailer) my wife and I put together with a GH5 and G85.  95% of the shots were with Voights shooting f.095.  It's a look.  I also just re-bought a used 5dMII for less than $400.  Full Frame and fast lenses for interviews is nice.  Point is, if you want to play, play.  Things are cheap. Have fun.

Can someone explain to me whats going on?

I shot this with GH5 + Sigma 18-35 on a Viltrox + ND filter. I am doing VFR 4k60fps straight to 24 fps in-camera recording. The file is just downsampled to 1080p in a link below. No editing, no grading, as it is. Where the hell is this vertical tearing coming from on especially seen on her tshirt white letters? And how to avoid that nasty shit?

IMO it comes from going 60->24 which isn't a simple .5 speed conversion. but rather .4 which means some frames are being played slower and some longer (even if just for a fraction). I might be completely wrong though so you better test it out by going 60->30 or 48->24

Does anyone have any hints on nailing focus on manual lenses when filming yourself?

For example, I want to film a bunch of tests of myself (like the lens tests always have a model in them) but when the lenses are wide open I can't work out how to check critical focus.

I've tried the app, but found that it doesn't have enough resolution to tell what's in focus, I can't setup something at the same distance and pre-focus because if DoF is only a cm or two then I can't make sure my eyes are exactly that distance.  The only couple of thoughts I've had is either to hook up the HDMI out to a huge TV that I can see well enough, or to buy a telescope so that I can see the flip screen well enough from where I'm sitting.

    Help?

I sometimes shoot myself at f/1.2 and the app with peaking and focus zoom is enough to get it in focus.

The size of the crop with this cameras is determined by the sensors resolution. 8mp crop from 20mp sensor is a smaller crop than 8mp crop from 30mp sensor. That‘s just mathematics...

Your mathematics seem to be forgetting about pixel binning and other techniques of squishing pixels down to a correct resolution..
