  1. For talking heads I've been getting great results using color space transform to arri in resolve. I just use cine4 and expose skin highlights around 60ire. Then you need to learn what nodes to adjust the exposure in... That takes time to learn to grade through the lut. AWB is usually fine. Also works in good light but not for low lighting or high dynamic range. For "filmic" colors push blue to teal and yellow to orange in the hue panel. You are going to get so many conflicting responses. Find clips you like and find out how they colored it.
  2. No SSD recording Wish the longGOP was 200mbps
  3. If you don't need slow motion, Sony A7III has great AF and 4K 24fps, though the codec is a bit weak. Also the IBIS is horrible IMO, but functional. If you expose properly you can get great results in resolve with a bit of finesse. BMPCC cameras require a bunch of rigging and basically no AF-C. Z-cam is similar, no AF-C, multiple models, some have better footage than others. GH5 can be great too, I just don't like the colors, contrast, the poor AF, and the deep DOF. That being said it is quite light and is a workhorse. I just find it hard to work with to get the results I want, though I admit that if you know how to finesse it in post it can look amazing too. S1h, too expensive and lack of AF. Apparently good footage but 60p has a crop. XT-3 does have a bunch of positives, decent af-c, good colors, aps-c sensor, but no IBIS. Nikon Z series looks terrible to me, everyone here praises it though. Every single clip I've seen looks weirdly oversharpened, the color is ok though. "Everyone" (the rest of us not making films) is waiting for something affordable that has good color, good codec, AF-C and 4K 60fps full frame. Nothing comes close right now, unless you want something like the $15K Canon C500 mark II. Red Komodo might come close (APS-C). A7SIII would do it too (maybe), except it's 2 years late and nowhere to be found, I've written it off as it is depressing me too much waiting for it. So... nothing does it all. My vote is A7III if you want the full frame look. Has decent DR, decent color, just poop IBIS, codec, and no 4K60p. The IBIS, at least for me, can add bad random frame shakes that require stabilization in post, but I live with it. All that being said, you can great results with any of these systems if you work for it, some just make it easier than others depending on what you want. Good luck!
  4. Don't do it, unless it's an experiment. Just stick with the approved media unless you want headaches. IF you do do the experiment, let us know what happens (dropped frames etc).
  5. Google it, there are a whole bunch of sites and packs, bunch of stuff on premiumbeats and rocketstock (free packs) as well.

Maybe one of the Cfast to SSD adapters might work? Pretty interested in this camera since the A7SIII is almost dead to me.
  8. BH having UWP on sale with plug on transmitter for $500.
  9. Expired 19/11/6, required promo code that i'm assuming is unique.
  10. Got the email from BH today, Sennheiser G4 on sale for $450
  11. Is there something wrong with the Deity Wireless Connect system? Seemed pretty affordable and I haven't heard anything bad about them (also haven't been looking at getting anything new for a while).
  12. The answer is probably no, but would this work for shallow dof interviews? I'm assuming there's no way for it to detect an eye vs a nose when trying to focus on a face. That being said the a7iii face detect has worked fine at 50mm f1.4 without eye detect so maybe? If so using the sigma 18-35 with af would be awesome.
  13. I seem to recall the giant complaints about "every video has a slider reveal shot" / "I hate slider shots" / "every shot is a damn reveal shot" just a few years ago. The more things change, the more they stay the same...
  14. It's not bad. I thought I would like the aircross 2 more but the ronin-sc is more ergonomic for sure (but can balance and take less weight).
  15. I just pulled it out and did some quick testing in my room an nope, not going to cut if for me. It's just not smooth enough for my purposes. It's not awful in the sense that it can autofocus, but for my usage it's basically unusable footage since it's a bit jerky and pulses. If you're just doing vlogs and don't care, then it's fine, but I would hate to hand off anything to my client that has the classic AF stutter. Can it focus, sure, can it do it smoothly, sure, just not most of the time... Your shot was relatively wide, with what I'm assuming is an f2.8 lens, which translates to F4 at FF equiv, and no shallow depth of field, so not very challenging.
  16. I've changed to SLR magic - pretty much no color cast, and you can adjust the angle of polarization too. Check the videos. I'm happy with mine, until something better comes out!
  17. If you had read the thread you would have seen Sage mention that he prefers the NTG3 for indoors over the hyper cardiods, and then a bunch of other shotguns got mentioned.
  18. Surprised no one mentioned the Deity S-mic 2. V1 was poop but the 2 sounded pretty good from what I've heard, it runs hot and feels solid, sounds decent, priced well. Got mine used. The fur + foam takes off a bit too much of the high end, might want to replace that with something like Rode WS7.
  19. I have the CK93 and Audix SCX1-HC. Got both used, I think CK93 for $200ish and SCX-1 for like $240 or something. I am not a pro, but the audix sounds a bit fuller and I like it more. I also like it more in the comparisons I've heard online. From what I read, on axis it's pretty close to the schoeps. KM-185 sounds sweet too but always sells for $600.
  20. FFS I just bought one of these not too long ago.
  21. Me too. I assume you're using the F2.8 panny zooms, which is equivalent to F5.6 DOF even at F2.8 (FF). Much easier to keep things in focus at F5.6! I still prefer the FF look and if the A7III had 4K60P I would be using that a lot more (which I use for interviews). But I have to say the GH5 with the panny zooms has the weight advantage by far, just so easy to use and switch lenses.
  22. Hurray I picked what the polls said (more or less). G,C,B,E,D,F,H,A A is pretty bad IMO but I suppose you can color correct it.
  23. That is just how it is with Sony cams. Depending on the mode you get difference behaviours, nothing you can do about it (you can't get screen on with 4K recording etc)
  24. Yep, would have considered S1 except for the lacking AFC, 4k60p crop and hella expensive lenses not to mention paid firmware upgrades. It's very expensive to get into for unproven AFC and Ibis compared to bmpcc4k... If I'm going to pay premium for a system it better have premium features and results. The Ibis and colors look really good though. Sony Ibis is such trash and it's absolutely terrible with my 16-35gm/a7iii
