  1. If I can introduce y'all to the ignore user feature, it's amazing. Makes life so much better on here.
  2. Just watch the samples... it's more or less confirmed by the "low" quality of it.
  3. I'd pay 2000 for it if they used crappy evf and lost the 120fps 🙂 But you'd probably lose the codec options, and you probably won't keep full HDMI, might lose eye af when using HDMI out, and other crippling. But hey, it's cheaper, I really like the a7iii for the price!
  4. The guy in the chinese video review said extended ISO means loss of highlight details (makes sense, and the same with other cameras when you lose DR by using extended ISO). Everything else should be more or less the same, except of course you can use a lower base ISO. The more I see the more I like in terms of features. Chinese video nailed it for the most part, the S1H screen design is better, everything else is decent. The one thing I "feel" when watching all these A7SIII videos is that it does not have the biting sharpness of oversampled sensors, and I'm constantly thinking, what is actually in focus here. A lot of it looks oddly "soft". Most people here will probably enjoy it as it's more "cinematic" (I hate myself for using that word), but I actually like the option to have uber sharp footage. A small price to pay I suppose, but I really enjoy having the option to have that in your face detail. You can always blur footage a bit, but it's you can't get the detail back if it's not there to begin with. I'm surprised the footage from other people is so unflattering, especially when shooting in natural light which is basically "cheating" in terms of lighting. Chinese vid was the first one I thought actually showed you could get decent color from it.
  5. I feel the same. If they release SH2 with AF, FF4K60p, and somehow convince Tamron to release L-mount versions of their lightweight E-mount lenses, that system would look very appealing. I also have the GH5 that I also hate the color science of, along with the gamma curves and highlight roll off. Mainly keep it around in case I need a stage cam or something that lasts long and just "works". Using the A7III for everything else, despite it's shortcomings. Light decently and the results are pretty good.
  6. I love it when people complain about skin tones in heavily graded YT videos them conclude the color science is trash. Big brain time. I'll admit the sooc files from my a7iii with artificial light can be horrendous, however once corrected they look great to me. Resolve really helps, without those color tools I don't know that I would be as satisfied with the color.
  7. Haven't seen any "normal" footage yet, but I love my A7III colors for the most part (in Resolve). Pretty much any camera with good lighting looks good though. So many bad shots because of... bad lighting... to be fair some cameras do better than others with artificial light. This looks like it should do fine, but it would be nice to see some sample ungraded clips. Finally had time to check out some A7sIII news, I only clicked on Gerald's and PB's video (and some sample shots), the others looked way too clickbaitey (DO YOU like RANDOM punctuation?!!!! 🤮 INSANE!!! giant funny face with hand holding camera) Looks pretty good, 120p looks a bit soft but that's fine (a lot of the night 120fps shots look pretty bad, but sufficient for corporate), I'm going to stick to 60fps. HDMI door looks like a disaster waiting to happen. Other than that it seems to solve most of my complaints with the A7III. Oh, active IS seems to be only good for static shots, seems to screw up movements from the one comp I saw. Looking forward to adding it to the arsenal!
  8. I'm getting one too, probably, but not the first batch 🙂
  9. "Exceed expectations" should become the new meme around here. Looks like a decent if long-overdue update which really brings nothing new or mind blowing. Hopefully it just works as intended. Besides the 120fps 4K (that you need an external recorder for, so many people won't even bother), this is so underwhelming. I am looking forward to finally having a FF cam with 4K60P and AF with manageable codecs so there's that, even though they could have released this camera a year or two ago without the 120FPS and it would have been actually exciting at the time.
  10. It doesn't really matter, A7III/28-75 tammy, Moza Aircross 2. For whatever reason it doesn't get super tuned and I know I overload it due to the zooming in and out. Sometimes it gets the shakes but IBIS usually takes care of it. I'm pretty sure the same thing happens with the Ronin-S as well.
  11. You can't be serious about the no IBIS... I just had a wrecked gimbal shot because I forgot to turn on the IBIS. 😞
  12. I know I should just wait until the 28th but y'all been keeping up with the rumors? - Still micro hdmi, - slight crop, - 10-bit up to 4K60 - "won't overheat for at least 1hr How is this "exceeding expectations"? Seems like all they did was: - better EVF (useful, though I only use it for photos, and this body is not for photos), - 4K60p 10bit, - a few improved codecs. - Maybe better thermal performance Seems like catching A7S2 up to A73, 4 years later. Ok fine they finally gave it good 1080p, in 2020. I guess we'll see on the 28th. All of the hype over the last 4 years and now this. oorah...
  13. The venting is understandable. Maybe someone should do a "daily show" or "colbert report" style show on these youtubers.
  14. It is amazing how many people cannot fathom needing a camera that can record "all day"... (Well, longer than 30 minutes at least). "The clip is only on screen for a few seconds, why do you need more than 5 minutes record time" type thinking... Unbelievable. I was excited for this release but hearing about the limitations, it feels like GM releases a Tesla level car with 50km range. Nice but I can't use this for work. Hopefully Sony comes through.
  15. Maybe they're like me and only use gimbal or tripod, no handheld. My hands are too shaky!
  16. Hd600 is dope (I have a pair) but I use closed back for doing sound. I really like the Shure 1540 for closed back, sounds great. For comfort I like the hifiman stuff.
  17. I'm thinking if the AF is good with Tamron G2 zooms I'll just use those with adapter. I have the EF 70-200 II still, and the original Tamron 24-70mm VC G1. What I'm actually hoping Tamron does is make RF mount of their new E-mount zooms because they're so light and compact! I'm kinda disappointed with the distortion of the 70-180mm and the fact that it extends but I guess you can't have it all. Probably have to wait another year at least before Sigma and Tamron release any RF lenses. I find I almost never use the 70-200's because they're so damn heavy, but I used the panasonic 35-100mm all the time because it was so light.
  18. Canon should counter-troll Sony and push the announcement date after Sony, who moved theirs to after Canon. Imagine an infinite cycle.
  19. I've had a 400WH lithium battery I've been using for years. Works great for all sorts of lights.
  20. It works. I hate it and I refuse to click on baity videos, I can't stand it. I'll have to check this mic out, sounds interesting. I love my ride video micro, sounds so good for what it is.
  21. Forza has too much fan noise for me based on what I've seen online. Pricing is "ok" but not cheap with the current perma sale. The fan noise and the $300 wifi controller really annoy me. What are they thinking? That being said the actual light quality has always been very good, better than aputure. I did just buy a POS "chameleon" rbg led tube from, digital foto? Forgot the brand. CRI is trash so I'll just use it for rgb or hair light. Cheaper than nanlite pavotube but I'm slightly regretting it. $150usd for 2ft tube on AliExpress.
  22. Sl60w photometrics are very good for the price, almost untouchable. Good r9 scores too. Only downfall is the damn fan noise and thermal design. Since the heatsink is on the chip and points forward, there's nothing you can do about it, and since it's only 60w you need it in pretty close... I modded mine and the fan is as loud as a c300d ii. My experience with cheap lights is that the photometrics are usually quite poor, even if they have decent CRI it's usually gamed with very poor r9 and r12 scores. The falcon eyes / soonwell / godox flex led panels have excellent color scores but have gone up massively in price, however they were a decent deal when they first came out. Can still find the odd deal here and there and those are a steal for the quality of light! Just picked up a 2x2 150w godox flex with SB for 360usd, can't beat that price. Of course it's out of stock now. The no name flex panels are terrible.
  23. SL mark II probably has a fan but you can turn it off (I'm assuming)... a bit useless if you're trying to get max lux / dollar but any improvement is better than nothing. There's no way to run any of these COB chips without a fan unless you want a large heat sink which. Why don't they just use a better fan, it would cost them less than $10/unit... My modded SL200 is practically silent (of course thermal performance sucks now). I don't understand these light manufacturers at all... the fans would be so cheap at volume pricing. I just ordered a Godox VL300 to check it out. Waiting for that Aputure 600D to come out, but it will probably be stocked at the end of the year... I was torn between the Aputure 300D II, Forza 300/500. Went back to Godox because I can probably mod the fan if it's too loud and I can live with the slightly worse quality of light as I'll probably get one main "good" light and use the rest to supplement. I don't think Aputure is going to cut the price of 300D II. Their Sidus system is pretty dope and the PSU system is really nice, plus the light quality is decent. If I didn't need MOAR power I would have gotten 300D II over VL300, but since I'm planning on getting a bunch the $350 savings was more important. The Forzas... I feel like Nanlite thinks their light quality is better, so they don't need to do anything else. It is better, but the fan noise is stupid (at this budget and level), their +$250 for wifi control is ridiculous, and they can't be bothered to include a remote. Even though Forza 300 and VL300 are the same price right now (Forza 25% off sale) I went with Godox because of fan noise and control, plus the reflector output on VL300 is around 2/3 stop brighter. Also, thank you @AlexTrinder96 for posting that Viltrox Weeylite, it actually looks really good for the price, it's like a bi color 120D II for half the price! They did post the light metrics too, looks pretty amazing, not sure if it's fudged.
  24. 1DX II was actually pretty dope for video except for useability, saw lots of nice footage people posted using that cam. But it had 3? minute recording limit and the file sizes were huge, and the crop in 60fps. If they don't cripple it and fix those issues (time limit, codecs, crop) it would be a great cam.
