  1. S1 looks great, but for the price the limitations really hurt. 4K60P is cropped and I think there's a time limit on it. Paid firmware updates... why... AF-C still on the fence about it, much better than GH5 but is it as good as Sony/Canon? Lens selection and price! Ouchy. Also those Sigma lenses don't have good video AF-C in the Sony versions, so I doubt they are going to be any better for the L-mount. I'm tempted, but I think I'll continue the eternal wait for the A7SIII. I'll take another look when the lens prices are in line with everyone else, they have 4K60 FF and the autofocus is proven.
  2. I just invested in a Mixpre-3 a few months ago. If this thing has a good headphone amp maybe I'll switch, NEVERGAIN! That would be amazing! Now if they would hurry up and do this for images as well, no more setting exposure... woo! I wonder how much the file sizes are affected.
  3. Those copies look like they have the same loud PSU. Is the new one bi color?
  4. When it comes time to take them off it sucks
  5. The pearstone ones are like $10 and work great, get the high speed or whatever one's.
  6. I was quite excited when the rumor mill first started, but as more and more details came out I've almost lost all interest. For photography, I can't see many people jumping ship from the other three unless it's out of spite. Usually the price to switch isn't bad if you can sell off your old lenses, but the prices for these lenses are way too much, ridiculous even. Even worse than e-mount was and there is no F2.8 24-70 at launch! Not to mention the other two for a trinity. AND there are no used lenses / older lenses for you so you really have no choice (unless they announce some kind of magic adapter they've managed to keep secret). And then for video the fact that they decided to say it's focused more on photography combined with their history of "improved autofocus" that was a series of terrible lies with the GH5 doesn't give much confidence to this DFD working well at all. I love their test of shooting a dancer standing still as example of it "working". Wow no focus distance changes, great job /s Good luck to them.
  7. Moza air 2 around 500 if you use the offer on eBay. At least that's what I got it for. I like that it's easy to adjust on the move and a tiny bit lighter. I'm keeping both for now, waiting to try GPS module for Ronin. If I didn't shoot from anything motorized I'd get the moza air 2 because it's faster to adjust with the built in screen and has many different modes available very quickly, not to mention cheaper and lighter. I do wish the grip was detachable as well as the focus wheel, and the mount for the lens support is stupidly small wtf. Also the sport mode shakes alot but I never use that mode. But overall very good for run and gun.
  8. You'd think they would want the top youtube results to be something other than a touristy clip and someone kicking a soccer ball around
  9. Most of the e2 footage I've seen looks weirdly over sharpened.
  10. Isn't 4k penetration in 2018 like 30% in the US? Unless they're selling 8k TV's for $100 it's going to take a loong time before anything close to the majority of screens becomes 8k
  11. Moza Air 2 just arrived. I really like the screen and being able to set options on the gimbal, very convenient. I also like how fast it is to adjust speed and turn motors on and off. I much prefer the flexibility of this compared to the traditional style. The grip is more comfy for me than Ronin-S but you can't detach it so it's more annoying for storage. Right off the bat I had to offset the roll axis though. Ronin-S feels a bit more solid, and I can wrap the Ronin-S grip, but for Moza Air 2 you can't do this since the battery compartment opens there. Ronin-S also much more stable for vehicle use (best gimbal I've used so far for vehicles). Moza is better than the older Zhiyuns (less tilt when moving) but it's still there and far behind Ronin. Most people won't notice especially if they are just walking around, but once you get on something motorized it becomes more apparent. My Ronin-S has been fine, I just don't like how annoying it is to change settings and speeds. I've done 2x 6hr events with Ronin-S and yeah it's pretty heavy but still manageable. I rest by either setting it down or lodging it in a one of those hip mount thingies (the tripod legs go into a belt mounted pocket, takes most of the weight, useful for static shots or for resting). In terms of stability I have to say the Ronin-S has been very good in terms of keeping horizons level and pointed where you want it (of course could be better, but way better than anything else I've used), much better than older Zhiyun and this Moza unit. I honestly thought the Moza would be much closer in performance due to how similar they look but this is not the case at all. If only they had made changing settings more convenient! Alas. Maybe next time. Anyways, need more testing before more comments!
  12. The irony is that I hardly ever update my CC programs because all the updates are filled with bugs, so unless something is really not working I won't update. The entire point was supposed to be that you got the most "up to date" software. The reality is that it's always filled with bugs. Remember the data deleting bug? #professionalsoftware
  13. The issue I had was random using the X1000 cards. A bunch of other people had it too, you can google it, basically every once in a while when you hit record, the camera will not start recording for 10-12 seconds. If you happen to be watching the screen when you hit record, notice it's not doing anything, then hit it again, it will start recording in 10-12seconds then immediately stop (because you pressed the record button again). Extremely annoying and leads to missed shots. It is not frequent, so you won't notice it until... well, you miss your shots or your think you are recording, but you aren't. After they claimed they fixed the issues with Lexar cards, I tried mine again and still had the same issue. Lexars now for other cameras. Shame since the read speed is the best of the bunch I have . Not sure if the X2000 have the same problem or not, so those might work? Good luck!
  14. Do not use Lexar and Panasonic, they just do not like each other. Even after the supposed firmware fix I still get the same bad behaviour with Panny + Lexar.
  15. No offense but this is very basic Amazon shopping "skill". Avoid any other vendor other than ships and sold by Amazon. (Unless it's a company selling it's own goods on Amazon.) What is the point of this post? You got burned because you bought from a crappy source and now blaming Amazon... Same thing can happen at eBay or Alieexpress or wherever you are deal hunting... You might want to boycott Amazon for other reasons (warehouse working conditions) but this is just silly.
  16. Skintones on A7III seem pretty good, what the hell are people talking about. If not, use color correction...
  17. I'm trying the SLR magic now, looks pretty good
  18. Try exporting to xml and then importing to resolve, nothing to lose! I switched over recently and I haven't noticed the actual performance being better than premiere in terms of stutters during 4k playback but at least I don't get the glitch where I can't save and premiere hangs for 30mins with the file explorer dialogue is open... Obviously there's some bugs but I'm trying to escape the Adobe universe.
  19. $550 on sale now, check BH! I feel so dumb buying this early.
  20. Been having great fun with these LUTs, GHAlex is a win! I know some of us are hoping for a Sony LUT but because there's going to be 9 different A7 cameras it's understandably a questionable prospect. I have a Sony A7III and GH5 and took a quick shot this morning - totally unscientific. Guess which shot is which, GH5 + GHAlex and Sony A7III GH5 I tried HLG and CineD (don't have Vlog), 4k 24p 10bit, Sony I tried Cine2/Pro and Slog2/sg3.cine (both 4K 100mbps 24p at -16 sat, which I fucked up, just trying out lower saturation). I only uploaded 3 because one of them was so similar it was pointless. These are exports from Resolve. To my eyes I can get a pretty close match, but it's easier when I have something to match to. If I just had the A7III on its own I'm not sure what I would end up with compared to the GH5 shots. Main point was to see if I could use both on a project and match it. I know it's just one shot but at least it's possible in certain circumstances!
  21. So many a7 cameras and they all have different color science
  22. Yeah really depends, like if you are in a really shaky environment it's better to jack the shutter speed way high otherwise you'll get motion blur in your footage. But for normal use 180 works just fine.
  23. I have the GH5 and still looking at dat P4K. I've never shot RAW but with BRAW I'm definitely interested to see what the hype is all about! P4K + P4Alex - looking forward to it!
