It doesn't matter what they say, all their fanboys will defend them even though it's obvious they want to protect their rumored C-series cameras with what is almost certainly the same sensor and capabilities.  It's so obvious why it's crippled... They basically don't have to do anything, they're #1 in Japan, they don't care what you or I think. 
They're probably selling R5's like hot cakes, and even if they don't, they're selling enough of them to reduce the sensor costs for the C-series cameras and increase their margins, so it's win win win for them.
Just look at some of the responses on the forum, people willing to frankenstein a $4K camera in 2020 because it's a canon, who would probably previously make fun of your solutions to cool down a $1,500 A6500 from 2016.

This is not how movies work! 
Literally noone uses AF and what you describe is not happening on a pro set of a film.

Good to know! I was going to say, the OIS in this kit lens is better than any I’ve ever had. I have a few Nikon primes I’ll eventually buy a dumb adapter/speedbooster for. Particularly my 100mm 2.8 e series Nikon prime. Really enjoying this camera so far, especially the colors.

It feels like the industry as a whole has some kind of collective Stockholm Syndrome with Canon. Why do we want them to be better? Why do we want them to fix their clearly intentional choice? Why do we want to pay them money when they clearly don't care to earn it?
Sony and Panasonic have been pushing the limits of hybrids for over a decade and yet many people are still hoping and praying Canon releases a patch or a fix for the R5 & R6. If you put your faith in Canon, prepare to be disappointed.

With tips like:

After shooting take off your lens and expose your sensor Avoid hot weather Don’t take photos before video Bring a second body, $2,600 R6 or another $4,000 R5 and swap them. Realize you paid $4,000 for another EOS R...again. LOL! But its Canon...if any other company released a camera like this they would be out of business fast and all the Canon apologist would be saying the same thing: “Unreliable piece of junk!, Not professional gear!, I wouldn’t dare shoot a a job where I was getting paid with that camera”.

Interesting development but having had a micro hdmi break on me even when clamped in a cage (fortunately only for monitor not recorder) , I wouldn't want to rely on that for recording all day, especially if you can't record internally for back up. Too many other things to worry about when shooting all day without playing Russian roulette with overheating and those shitty connections  

Where did you get 16 from, Canon? I think it's the best camera Canon have released since the original C100 but usable DR is another thing. Arri sensor seems to have 14 or 15 usable depending on your tolerance for noise and they're top of the pile

C300 mk3 is pretty impressive still, hopefully the R5 gets Clog 3 for a slight improvememt or even clog2 to compete with Canon's cinema cameras but at the moment it is relatively low

Tilta are working on a solution.

I think this camera is every bit as revolutionary as the original Canon 5D 
 

The XT3 is a great camera for video and photos, best value hybrid in my opinion. You may want to get a spare battery or 2 though, they don't last quite as long as I would like (or get a power bank for all day shooting)

Be fair, it was you who brought up the commercial angle in defending the camera.  And you made that point when replying to someone who suggested it could be used on such productions, with green screen work and artic based movies.  In fact, we have been arguing against the very thing you accuse us of.
