I think that the copper heat spreader only is by far the best mos practical solution, and also good enough to keep it cool.

I am indeed! I meant to thank bloggers (including Andrew specifically) for bringing the issue of overheating up so much. The pressure about the timer nonsense forced Canon to change the way the camera monitors temperatures, which is the reason the mod works at all.

The SOC is nice, and a new infrastructure is inspiring for the future of computers. But, let's be honest, 8k Prores is't not a hard codec to work with. I wanna se real h264/h265 performance.

Hey @Hicham , I'm working on that next. Upon finishing the 4.2 update recently, I just kept working on the engine, and made some major revisions last week. Now, the S1/H

I trust Sareesh, he's quite knowledgable and at least he's a DP who works with the gear he shows. It is interesting to see how the camera will work now with this new update. The timer seems to still be present but it seems that it doesn't "bother" so much when recording, obviously it would be better not to have it present.

The sad truth is, that in the future Canon will surely launch a "firmware fix" and this problem will be solved, we will all forget about it because the camera will probably be great and in the end, Canon still wins.

That's whats I was thinking. Nobody (more even youtubers) will care if the camera "had issues".

    A good reaction on Twitter:

I agree with Quinn about it being a bad look.
They need to at the very least come clean, answer, own up and apologise.
    Then fix it.

"It seems as soon as there is a card inserted, an overheating countdown timer starts, but doesn’t apply when an HDMI device is attached and the card removed"
These get very fishy. I had commented in another post about suspicion and my crazy paraonic theory that the overheating limit is only a limit made by firmware, nobody believed me... Now I believe it more firmly, but we still have to wait for the truth to come out.
For me, Canon's credibility is at stake in all of this.

This thread details the teardown process, modifications made and some important findings:
    http://c.tieba.baidu.com/p/6848700307?pn=1

He replaced the two thermal pads that did not fully cover the CPU with a dollop of thermal paste and noticed significantly better and more even heat dissipation.
Most important finding: despite the temperature drop and improved heat dissipation, 8K/4K HQ still cut off at 20min mark, suggesting a firmware limit is also in place.

Call me paranoid if you want, but I think the overheating of the r5 and r6 is quite a marketing trap. I have already seen several videos where it is mentioned that heating occurs at very different times and several times they have said that the camera is cold to the touch (or at room temperature).
In my view, I believe that overheating is a limit set by Canon through software, I do not think it is a real hardware problem. Canon blocked the camera with a false heat alarm to generate all this debate and controversy on the matter. Then in a few months they will fix it with a simple firmware, because the problem is that, only software. In this way Cannon earns a couple more months of free advertising for his latest product.
If the camera can only be fixed by firmware, I would be very inclined to this theory (in my opinion) and would stop believing Canon. It is all very strange.

But hey, it's just my theory.

There will be PREs if the codec is lacking for the main log format; only the Cine-D Pre would be needed, but I like that HLG on the GH5 could use the default saturation setting.
The standard bar is absolute for each new camera; I'd like to do a comparison in the future, wherein the same subject is filmed with every camera. Here are the Alexa, P4K, and GH5, with the most recent conversions/EC709:

It will interesting to see; I hope to explore it soon!
All-I will give you a codec advantage over 8-bit 60 (and 10-bit 150mbps 24). There is less macroblocking and denser color gradients. The exception is 1080p 100 Long, which was similar to All-I in my gradient motion test. 1080p on the GH5 is very detailed (at the limit of 1080). Cine-D is better than VLog for 4K 8-bit

The V4 email should be out to everyone; if you haven't received it please let me know. A month ago, my father was diagnosed with advanced colon cancer at the same time that the virus situation was taking off, and life was thrown into disarray. March is colon cancer awareness month, and we are aware now (get screened every 10 years, starting at 50)
The GH5S is, at last, supported. V4:

    Emotive Color Component ('EC709')
    - Remade in 'HDR', preserving intense values (exceeding 0.0-1.0), that are incorporated into final Rec709 envelope
    - Using the new engine, Arri Rec709 primaries are recreated at lower saturation, while 'projecting' this primary behavior to HDR gamut extents (beyond Arri Rec709 gamut clipping)
    - Raised highlight ceiling for Main (average between Soft and Linear)
    - Significantly refined saturation envelope for Main and Linear (& Soft, to a lesser extent)

    Core LogC
    - Remade with new engine (Incorporates initial baseline HSL conform)
    - Fixed chart scan error that added 1/18th incorrect neighboring sample value to each sample average (hidden mistake in my very earliest code)
(Corrects for persistent slight inaccuracies despite multipass, such as magenta bias of shadow skin tone in Tungsten)
    - Fully linearized highlight rolloff (true to LogC) with maximal detail retention (effective highlight DR increase)
    - New smoothing algorithm (incorporated into engine) - 12 passes, combining two hue-aware algorithms for new smoothness standard while preserving hue lines
    - Most extreme gamut is now directly measured and preserved (i.e. colored Leds in night environments)

    Misc.
    - Added Exposure Compensation [PRE]s - actual exposure color conversions for use ahead of the conversion (interpolated from sample data, incorporating rolloff)
    - Added Auto Black Level POSTs - for use following the conversion; quickly conform black level in any NLE
(No accompanying relative hue/saturation distortion whatsoever, unlike standard luma tools)
    - Remade all PREs with new engine, taking new NLE measurements to accommodate NLE profile rendition shifts since original release
    - Direct monitoring variations included for HLG and Cine-D, and VLog external monitoring variation (includes levels fix)
    - Rewrite of Pdf (for Gen.4)
    - Direct FCPX support added (with distinct PREs and Pdf)
    - Significantly more efficient file sizes
    - 16 bit Gradient Chart included to test smoothness of theoretical & far gamut, and reveal pipeline banding issues
    - Each file is now unique to its owner at coordinate level

Thanks guys, it was the hardest news of my life. Fortunately, he's doing well, with almost no side effects despite two cycles of Folfirinox. Its a marathon, but an encouraging start

Thanks, the script was made by a friend trying to make the thing a little more collaborative. I didn't consider change the role because i wanted to leave the main character alone for the self reflection. it's more about the "inner my self" but itroducind the topic in a more enjoyable way. Although the puppet killing the man it's a nice too.
