ntblowz
Just when u thought S1II price is a bit excessive, Sony is upping the game with the same 33MP sensor but add $1000 extra for a new body. sanveer
sanveer
I doubt anyone will find the Sony price excessive. Somehow Sony seems to have appled this delusional pricing to their smartphones too, and that's one of the reasons that they're nowhere among the top 5 or perhaps even the top 10 smartphones in many markets. MrSMW
So what is this supposed to be, - like a hybrid of the FX3 and the A7iv because it’s not cinema camera as such because it has a mech shutter? Interesting because I have always likes and preferred this body style over the more traditional DSLR type.

ND64
So what will the price of FX3II? $5000?
eatstoomuchjam
I've heard a few times that the sensor in the A7 IV is pretty fantastic, though I haven't used it myself. It makes perfect sense to put it in a cine-style body! Less sense to give it a mechanical shutter. Even less sense to do it... now? The A7 IV came out in 2021. Why wait 4 years to release the cine equivalent? And while I know that AI AF on the specsheet is AI Autofocus which has nothing to do with AI and everything to do with actually-useful ML, describing anything as "AI AF" automatically makes me not want it. 😉
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted May 15 Administrators Share Posted May 15 $3500, wow. It's almost as if the Trump Tarrifs have given everyone the excuse to globally raise prices in unison like a big cartel / monopoly. Not good. There are a lot of FX3 users itching to buy a new camera, and either the FX3II isn't coming soon or they plan to raise the price significantly. eatstoomuchjam
DanielVranic
Must say, my A7CII is maybe my favorite camera i've ever used. It checks every box repeatedly.

Not good Same as with all other natural disasters such as the Icelandic ash cloud for instance. Folks were trapped and wanted to get home so all public transport, car hire, hotels, you name it but if they could, raised prices astronomically in order to milk that cow whilst she could still moo 🐮 And then what tends to happen is when the crisis is over/the tarrifs have been lowered or even dropped, prices remain disproportionately higher than they previously were and because folks carry on paying them because they are either too lazy not to or because they feel they have no choice, inflation. newfoundmass

Well they are gonna increase the price in general soon, maybe FX2 has taken the tariff in as account. https://photorumors.com/2025/05/15/significant-sony-price-increase-coming-on-may-19th/
Administrators Andrew Reid Posted May 19 Administrators Share Posted May 19 Like I said these idiotic tariffs are causing the market to act as a cartel. Capitalism is all about competition so if one company faces higher costs, and the others don't, then that company suffers and the rest can keep their prices low. If all companies are forced to up-their prices, it sets a new expectation for the entire market for costs, and nobody loses as the consumer can't simply turn to a company with lower prices when they are all subject to the same market forces. So even if the prices go up in the US, that gives the camera companies the perfect excuse to do the dirty on the UK and Europe as well.
