Did you watch the video? It’s pretty night and day when in motion.

Already posted a few pages back. If they won't address it, they're shooting their own feet. It doesn't make ANY sense. It is even plain ridiculous. And it is not noble for the brand. They could have fixed, they candidly didn't want it. It doesn't matter how loyal we are to or dislike Canon, it is simply true.

Here's Canon's problem. They didn't meet their own hype. They missed it by a mile. In fact, I'd go as far as saying their launch advertising is downright misleading. Deliberately so because they obviously knew the limitations - they designed them. This doesn't appear to be an issue for you. Classic canboyism.
You're giving Canon a complete free pass. You're inferring it's not the camera company's responsibility to deliver what they actually promise. Classic canboyism.

Not buying now. Was going to before this. We are on a camera forum. Certainly there is many things to be upset about in the world today. Doesn’t mean I have to ruin other aspects because of it.

The previous one couldnt even do 1080 100fps without a heavy crop. This one is doing 120fps at 4k with only slight crop. Plus it has AF, fully articulating screen and 10bit h265..... Some people are hard to please 😅

Most camera launch films, for one reason or another, are usually very poor and don’t show off the camera too well.
From launch videos, and the vast majority of YouTube and Vimeo uploads - the colour from every camera looks pretty whack. Even though the original A7SII did have weird as hell white balance, nearly everyone on the internet made it look like a turd, but you could actually get some really juicy colour out of that camera with PP tweaks and grading.
Phillip Blooms paddle film with Atomos was dull as dishwater with the usual quick fire FilmConvert grade. That Japan one was regularly badly exposed, lit, colour corrected and graded. It is baffling the big brands approve these edits to advertise their cameras.
There’ll be loads of great looking footage shot with this camera. I just hope the white balance is fixed!

Defending a manufacturer's fuck up via the medium of advocating a 3rd party add on cooling device with rotating blades is quite literally putting the fan into fan boy.

Well, there is no shortage of them, that I can tell.
There is Tiffen Black Diffusion/FX and Schneider Radiant Frost, which (according to David Mullen) soften the image with minimal halation added.

Not to mention a whole lot of Satins (Black Satin!), etc.
    Some good read here: https://www.thebroadcastbridge.com/content/entry/4071/its-time-sharpen-your-diffusion

And last, but not least, a handy diagram from Tiffen:

Someone already named it "Triangle of CONFUSION" and I think this term is extremely on point.

How's this possible in the XXI century?
Isn't there a limit for freedom of thinking?
Flat earth theorist !?? Are they kidding me?
Aren't there mental health authorities in US? I mean US, but could be anywhere else. Seems pretty clear to me, there's a border between common sense vs (plain/full) insanity.
Why not to simply forbid this kind of acrobatics? Last time I heard there are rules for drones to fly...
IMHO society (that is, all of us) represented by the State is responsible for such loss.

RED's reputation has been hurt recently, so it makes sense for them to try to grab lower end customers with a cheaper camera that uses non-proprietary accessories. People thinking "RED sucks it's so overpriced" will probably be ok with the Komodo since it's so much cheaper. People who own one will likely stick with RED and upgrade to something more expensive later. It's what Mercedes does with the CLA or A class, for example - They're grabbing younger people with less income and building brand loyalty for later in life when the same customers have better paying jobs.
Arri's reputation has been, and probably always will be, that it's just the best option for most situations. Part of that prestige is that the price makes it inaccessible by all but the highest budget productions.

If you use any EOSHD color settings you should always use the luts that are included and/or follow the instructions.
If you're planning to use filmconvert it's best to shoot in unmodified profiles that are supported. Take a look at the different combinations for the A73 like "S Log 2 + Pro" or whatever they have and stick to those.
But for the footage you already have why not download some canon and sony profiles and just see which one works best for you?

Jonathan422 reacted to Trek of Joy in RED Komodo
After spending some time tinkering with the Zcams at B&H a few days ago, can't see the Komodo's appeal unless you really want Red's raw or the RF mount. Raw, ProRes, CFast or SSD recording, lots of HFR options, two brilliant and incredibly tiny m43 bodies - one costing just $800 with raw capabilities, a 6k s35 body with a m43 or EF mount and two FF cameras that cost less than a FS5. Zcam posted on their Facebook group that a fully electronic E-mount is coming as well in the next few months. I'm sure the Red cult will be all over the Komodo, but in this space I'd go Zcam.

It's when the bright parts of the image create a kind of localised haze over the image.
The Black Pro Mist filters are a form of halation:

You can simulate it (sort of) in post by taking the image, blurring it, then putting it over the top of the image at a very low opacity.

It's possible with nano-coatings, but I suspect that that's not what they're doing.
I've said above that I suspect there's two factors, resolution and halation, and I suspect that the skin smoothing is halation.  If you take a sharp image and apply a small amount of halation then it will seemingly smooth out much more subtle contrast areas more than higher contrast areas.
I suspect that this happens because we're much more attuned to contrast on skin than we are on clothing, just like we're much more attuned to the colour of skin, as such things told us who was sick, who was angry, and who might be romantically interested in us!  We don't have the same kind of tonal interest in the subtle variation of clothing or other non-human elements.  Applying a certain level of smoothing means things when its done to skin - people photographing fashion are interested in contrast on clothing but not on skin.  It's a different thing.
