It looks like they really hit it out of the park with this one.
Really excited to see what the XH2 is going to be

As far as I know its still there on the Pocket 4k but the Pocket 6k doesn't have the issue. That said it can be fixed in post on the Pocket 4k, while on the Panasonic S1 you are just screwed.
I have a feeling he is just used to the excellence from Arri or RED. Would be interesting to see him compare it to the EOS R, Fuji XT3, and Sony A7III
I thought the panasonic codec with Vlog is H264 10 bit 150mbps?

The big advantage to Sony would be the new model will have their latest AF tech which is really good. Also speedboosters

Yeah I assume it'll be in Ursa Mini territory.
The Ursa Mini 4.6k G2 is nice, but having amazing auto focus is a huge plus. If its FS5 size or smaller its pretty compact too, compared to the URSA. Having the ability to do small files sizes in 4k is nice too.

Apparently its only with Vlog not HLG tho

Exactly,...so for the blue channel clipping, yes we have seen this for decades on many camera models. Some camera's are more resistant that others. However, with the S1 and S1H, we are seeing these cameras having an EXTREME sensitivity to blue lights. More than any camera I have ever seen.
Oddly enough, the same blue light test scene is 100% FINE when switching to HLG. And, going further, the exact same blue light does NOT hurt the GH5 VLog-L or HLG.
Even B&H's S1H promo sales video is riddled with severe blu channel clipping. That was a terrible way to highlight the S1H. Those guys spread blu light all over their shots! If I was Panasonic, I would BEG B&H to take their promo video down!
I "think" Panny can fix this, but of they can't, people MUST know that if you have blue light in your shot, like a stage show or wedding reception...DO NOT USE VLOG....you need to switch to HLG. Once that blu channel gets smashed, it cannot be repaired in post.
We need to raise public awareness about this. If you are doing a paid project, VLog could totally ruin you footage before you are able to switch to HLG.
BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET BURNED BY VLOG!

I don't know but that Oakley commercial was awesome

Yeah I am not an editor. I used to use HLG on the GH5 though, but that was for personal projects. Plus my B cam the XT30 doesn't do HLG

We shot this as a two man crew over two weeks in Georgia. Was a whirlwind shoot driving up mountains to track down nomadic sheep herders and trying to get access to shoot in Orthodox churches and dance clubs. This is what we came up with.. would love to hear what everyone thinks.. we took a different direction on this piece than we normally do.

lol about differing options on photo vs video with these things!
I totally agree about dream sequences or other-worldy feel, that's definitely the vibe it has. To me the photos you see with these are always models in nature which has a positive/enticing feeling, whereas I think they might better suit a distorted / closing-in / claustrophobia / descent-into-madness kind of vibe. Make all the trees rotting fast jump-cuts for confusion dark music and grim/awful colour palette and you're there with a strong aesthetic.

Because black magic markets their cameras as cinema cameras. Panasonic falls in with the rest of the DSLR type cameras, which all have superior auto focus.

That's unfortunate, I wonder if a filter could be installed to fix that issue. I am guessing they left that out for greater stills image quality. Hopefully it'll be different on the S1H

If anyone is curious, I just finished up a piece shot about 50 percent with the pocket. This was graded by a colorist.
The other half is Super 8 and there's maybe 4/5 shots with the GH5.
This might not make sense if you don't live in Seattle but maybe relatable. Anyway. Shot with the OG bmpcc.
