True although the difference is you can be a youtuber without actually being successful or without any education/low cost.  Can't be said for astronauts or firemen. You certainly can get by with a phone camera for many applications, I mean even features have been shot on phones now. However I don't think marketing and selling is always about need. People will buy because they think they need it.

10 bit up to 4k 120p would be expected for me. Canon and Sony are doing it with full frame sensors. Good low light performance is expected and IBIS.

To really change up the game, some sort of 12 bit recording or E-ND would be huge and really give a big reason to stick with M43, even if AF still sucks.

Yes we'll see. I got an S1 plus 24-105 f4 for $1900 so I am not unhappy with it.

Been watching all the tests on the R5 and it's very interesting. Great work. From looking at all the info that's been comming together I think a picture might be starting to emerge.
My theory is that while there is an extemely over-conservative overheating/cooldown timer, there is are some thermal issues that they are trying to control.
I do not think that the overheating shut-off is to protect the proccesor/sensor/RAM/etc but to keep the CFE cards from throttling. This would be supported by the fact that the camera seems to be able to run much hotter in photo mode without shutting down, while in video mode it shuts off at a fairly low temp.
When shooting photos it is not essential to keep the CFE card from throttling as the only thing this will do is make the buffer take longer to clear. However in video mode if the CFE card throttles too much in high bitrate recording modes it could stop recording and potentially corrupt the video file.
So while I think there is some validity to keeping the camera from overheating (and what the R5 is doing seems to make sense), I think that the way they are dealing with it is not good at all. Instead of a timer, they simpy need to monitor the internal temperture and only shut off when it reaches a certain threshold AND let you record again as soon as it falls below that threshold (which seems to be very quickly). I also think that it should not be neccesary to "overheat" to protect from CFE throttling when shooting in lower bitrate modes such as 4K HQ and probably 4K 60 as the throttling would probably not dip below their write speed requirements.
I wonder if shortly before release/announcement Canon discovered an issue with card throttling and slapped on a very ill-designed thermal control system just to keep from having a bunch of "my card throttled and I lost my video" complaints, and may have been planning all along to fix it in a firmware update.
Looking forward to seeing what futher testing reveals.

Yeah there is a shift when zooming for some reason. Its not ISO or F stop. Very weird but pretty much makes zooming in while recording not usable.

Ebay is pretty safe fortunately. 100% buyer back guarantee. They won't even get the funds until like 25 days after the auction.

That said if they try to do anything fishy like have you pay outside of ebay or pay for another item as some sort of bargain deal don't do it. Once you go outside of ebay you have no recourse.

With 28 pages to get through, it's tricky enough for people to get the required good info that is nested in this thread.
Please refrain from further argumentative chatting that takes up so much room. No disrespect to any one person but we now have PAGES of it! Not good.
If we are going to continue to fill page after page with opinion soup, the good info is going to get buried and missed by those coming in from Google. And there's a lot of traffic to this post at the moment. Please can we concentrate on informing those people who come to us for help. Thank you.
A new test has come out, which seems to have been written with one eye on the Canon marketing department. Nevertheless it is useful to see more results come in.

The problem with DPReview's test though is that nobody actually shoots like this, and same goes for Canon's official test.
You are not usually straight into a 30 minute take from cold at start of the day without so much as a few mins in live-view for composition.
And you do not take 30 minute breaks in-between 30 min interview takes.
So I would like to see a proper real-world test that lasts for a day's shoot 3-7 hours.
The camera is turned on in live-view for the duration, with shorter 30 second to 2 min takes recorded throughout that 3-7 hour shooting day.
With no 30 min or 1 hour resting periods.
Let's see how it performs in the REAL world.
For those of us in cooler climates I would like to see a test on a cloudy day, 20c as well.
If anyone actually has a camera and can contribute to this thread in a positive way I'm all for it!

Exactly, they are just brainwashed by their youtube gods. The latest on is that guy called Undone. I call him the pink guy before all his new found fame. I mean I would never present myself with such colors, when he just not well shave he looks like a drunk with the colors he has graded himself. The guy who tells you not to take into consideration that the Sony overheats.... While it factually does. I am fed up about youtube shooters that are some kind of like of authority now while they never venture outside of their basement studios. I mean I remember all the fuss about Nikon 4k RAW video being less detailed than the 4k (6k down scaled to 4k), so what about charts that show clearly that the A7s3 is much less detailed than the S1H for example?

Extended ISO on other cameras results in loss of dynamic range, guessing its the same here. I would assume SLOG works the same exposure wise as before. The difference now is you'll get more usable shadows with 10 bit and not have to worry as much about underexposing.

The 18-105 f4 is a boring lens, kind of cheaply built. But its very versatile. Great all around lens, though obviously not the fastest. Great for running and gunning as its very light.

The 18-35 1.8 is the best of all time. But its heavy AF. Super sharp wide open.

I honestly think the Fuji XT3 is one of the best options out there right now.  The 18-55 2.8-4 is great too. The IS is fantastic and of course the Fuji image is great overall. 4k 60p and HD 120p are fantastic. 10 bit and the RAW stills and Jpegs are really amazing.
