Admittedly,...this is going to sound really stupid. However, I think the word "Micro" was a bad choice for the title of this system. People are OK with a 4:3 aspect ratio but nobody wants a "Micro" sensor. All it does is remind people every time it is said that it's a "small" sensor.
Imagine if it was named the "Super 4/3" system"? "Super" 4/3 would have diverted attention away from its size and "psychologically" is a much better marketing name.
Yeah....I know this sounds stupid but sadly, I still think this idea holds true.
Super 4/3....much better "ring" to that name.

I remember this one also - more about longer distance shots.

If you manage to buy Leitaxed (I suppose to EF) version for, say, 250-300e, it could be the special beloved keeper through mounts and systems Well, than to encourage you, maybe check this nice test of CZ 25mm 2.8 - in f4 there's really anything to complain in term of clarity while keeping "vintage" character, assuming that glass is clean...

Yes, but moreover,  LvTr with film as this last one doesn't provoke anything, doesn't reveal nor explore anything, it is legitimate and welcome part of brain-and-feel-washing industry.
Seen inside of global direction of modeling human mind - It just well serves in plan of step-by-step habituation to projected goal as described, say, in Huxley's dystopias.
With its intention and articulation, today it is simply cheap commercial movie for so-called or so-self-esteem upper western public.
There's no elaboration as inside, say, Clockwork orange, there's no intrinsic form-call to dilemma or critic dialogue, it is just big movie-spot.
For me, fundamental conception of article is wrong - problem of this movie is not at all that it deserve censorship, which is senseless. Problem is, not that it is just irrelevant by its cheap-cliche idea, but that it is deeply opportunistic and easy-understandable commercial - although impudently promoted as rebellion.
Deprived from subtlety, it is not achievement of rebel, but of well-established screw in industry.

Right, after battering away at this thing all day from numerous different angles, I now remember why I put it on the back burner in the first place !
When you try and put cinelike d or v on it, it responds in exactly the opposite way you want it to and puts a ton of contrast into the image with a saturation boost just for good measure.
The histogram looks like a truck has driven right through the middle of it and pushed everything to the shadows and highlights.
And not a small truck either.
    A big fat one.
Possibly with a sidecar attached as well.
    On both sides.
Trying to correct this in camera with exposure compensation and highlight/shadow curves made a difference but still nothing even approaching usable.
One interesting thing (well, interesting is all relative but after hours of fucking about with this you take your pleasure where you can) is that there is the expected colour response difference between the cinelike d and cinelike v so it knows what its supposed to be doing but this is also accompanied by a hue change.
Again, trying to correct this with hue adjustment commands wasn't exactly a roaring success.
What I suspect is going on is the other two cameras that share the same guts, the GH4 and the HVX200, have exposed (if you pardon the pun) controls for hue, levels (i.e. 0-255) and master pedestal and its a combo of these that the LX100 just falls apart on when it receives the cinelike command.
The HVX200 is the only one that has an app (iOS only which makes it trickier though not impossible to harvest commands from) that can access those functions remotely so there is no chance of me finding anyone with that combo to have a look it. The camera I do have that has these functions is the FZ2000 but its all done in camera rather than via the app so no chance of harvesting the commands that way either.
So, sadly, no cinelike for the LX100.
Which is all the more reason to give EOS HD pro colour a whirl on it

Don't. Own it, I love the look. Watched this earlier today and both the director and the DoP appear to be big fans of using diffusion wherever possible.

If you use the camera everyday, then just buy a couple SD and/or a couple CF cards. I do not understand how suddenly recording on an external USB C drive became mandatory workflow, and puzzles us for 4 pages!
It offers another option, it doesn't mean that replaces other media completely.

I found that prominent shallow depth of field is just effect which has to be used sparingly. Or, at least in movie oriented creation (contrary to photo/portraiture oriented), it is as secondary element deeply subordinated to the logic and content of composition - more often it interrupts and distracts narration than adding to it as amplification of some particular impression. It seems to me that it is tool that go in pair mostly with medium+ to close up shots - or in psychological very specific creative decision (sort of effect of subject alienation)... But I know that I'm not at all original in these remarks - I repeat it just as sign of revolt against shallow depth of field as a priori rule of beauty or quality

Leica R's - both brilliant and one of the two best longlife solution if they are in optimal condition ... but be careful with adapters Leica R to M43 - from three of Chinese origin that I had, no one doesn't completely focus to infinity! The same story with Leica R to Canon EF (and than to speedbooster EF/m43)... Even first version of Metabones isn't perfect... I don't know about second, I sold Leica R lenses just to, out of curiosity, invest on further lens testing... Now I'd keep them.

I just have to admit that I'm not at all shocked, contrary to students to whom you showed "model". (And what purpose has to be showing her as member of unpretentious Jon's efforts?) Maybe I'm without taste, but, in fact, I sincerely found that Huang is lovely girl willing to participate, enjoy, play, experiment in posing and grow in acting - just as Jon in his field of interests.
Moreover, if it is really necessary to discuss some obviously totally unpretentious production - if Huang looks "phony" to some "professional" standard, I found that she unwillingly compensate/balance or substitute it with often wonderful radiation of always changing looks of naivety, innocence, pleasure and even ironic "look-I'm-playing-a-big-actress"... So, I admit that I very enjoy it.
And what about that possibility that Huang actually deliberately/instinctively acts indeed as liking to have look on "amateurish" and "phony" side, finding that it is completely in line and appropriate to level of Jon's ambition? Than it all turns out that she has a capacity of truly professional...

A lot of the shots here wont look as dramatic without the longer focal length. On a 24mm equivalent the background buildings etc, would be too small and wont be as dramatic as they look on parts of the shots, here. These guys flew their Inspire2 which is very hard for people to travel with. Yes, a mavic would be awesome. But Phantom is still doable, I've traveled to bunch of places with it.

The video was shot with a single GH5 (with a little A6500 in there) in 10 hours, edited, graded and effects done in 4 days (by me).
The new album (last I heard) was at No.7 in the official UK chart.
I'm a big fan of what Panasonic has done with this camera.
That said, the shining star of this video is the band.

I think that in any serious evaluation of BM impact and consequences it is аdvisable to consider one highly important factor - pure personality behind. If I am not wrong, Grant Petty has total drivе-control of BM policy, and it seems to me that it is a man devoted to personal vision and strong feeling of his world-mission. For him, profit alone is not The most important goal - although of course important - but craving to make/left some relevant trace behind him. Some sort of Steve Jobs, maybe... What BM done with Resolve is wonder - and it seems that Petty decisively follow his idea of democratizing movie-making to the utmost boundaries... So, to me all other reasons/aspects of this one attempt are simply executive and secondary - it seems to me that here we are also witnessing to higher evolution of someone noble self-actualization, in the meaning that, say, Abraham Maslow gave to that syntagm...

Yes, being pretty athletic (sorry to mention) I could run equally fast also with gimbal - but my problem is that, if I fall down on the slippery grass, I couldn't easy provide new gimbal as this guy - who is, btw, brilliant instructor and I gladly watch his lessons - so price for the risk is too high for me

I forgot to mention - I had to run with Atomos Flame on top of the cage... So sometimes I had to recalling you and regret why my fate is always so hard - instead of shooting lovely "phony" Huang, I had to run for triathlon champion Vida...

@Nathan Gabriel Do you know how the quality of the SLR Magic 10mm compares to their 17mm? I have the SLR Magic 17 and it's nice, but it doesn't come close to the quality of my voigtlander.
@anonim Later I could extract some snapshots from last clips shot with 10mm...
I hope that these grabed-stills could give you at least some idea about SLR Magic 10mm - yet unprepared material, almost straight OOC with some skin corrections for this occasion, taken with Atomos proreshq, so obviously lesser sharpening than internal codec... I'm shooting one short about triathlon champion (and painter also), so sorry for maybe boring content from one session of running in the nature, I choose SLRM10 for it...

Regarding this post... maybe it is worth noting that lens used with GH5 was Zeiss-Contax zoom. Somewhere in other thread I wrote that from my experience (and taste), two zooms significantly stand out between all other - Zeiss-Contax T 28-85 and Leica R 28-70... Actually, for some reason that one Zeiss makes incredible, I think unsurpassed match with Panasonic (often better than its prime counterparts) - providing at the same time fascinating resolution, details and smooth gradient, after very sudden out-of-focus-drops behind focused subject... But it is not so "silky" smooth in operation as Leica R 28-70.
