Found this on vimeo. It's probably been posted before but this is really nice from the BMMCC.

For me, the absolute minimum is the Focus right now, anything less is just not a very good buy. For that price (100$ more than cheap ones) is a steal.
 

Cameras do matter. Deakins fought for the alexa on hail ceasar and the cohens insisted kodak film. Have you seen hail caesar? It looks amazing. The camera is as important as the lighting lenses color etc. A lot of top dps say the camera doesnt matter but of course it does or they would not be risking it all to shoot on film when digital is so much safer for a production.  How it renders motion and  sharpness and smoothness. The camera is really important. Everything is important.
And yes deakins could say he would shoot on an iphone because that's baller to say.  But how many top DPs have "slummed" it on shoots with less-than-good cameras for major feature work?  Pretty much no one except Rodrigo Prieto who likes the Sony F55 for night exteriors.  Pretty much every other DP I can think of only shoots Alexa or Red.

Color looks to me a Lot different on the GH5s, and in a good way better. It is leaning toward the Orange, Red look that has been popular forever with Canon. More EVA1 looking than the GH4 look on the GH5. But the colors are better on the GH5 than on the GH4. That would not have been too hard to do. They were the definition of the Panny digital look, same with the G7. People from Mars Green to boot. They are really different beasts colors wise.

I'm trying to dig this camera but I just can't. To my eyes the image overall looks thin and people look plastic. The motion cadence looks video-ish too. I'm sure you could do a few tricks to make it look more filmic, but with some effort, which is kind of underwhelming for a camera in it's price range.
I feel like it's not a far cry from what you could get out of a modern mirrorless camera. Sorry if this offends anyone. It's just merely my opinion. If you like and use this cam, cheers. Happy filming.

My guess is it's doing 8/10 bits. But even with 8bit RAW, the image should be much more malleable in post and recover shadows and highlights better, you control the amount of denoising and don't have to worry about nailing perfect WB or using log. All this is very welcome over H.265 imo. 

My advice would be to sell the D700, D800 and Atomos Ninja Flame.
Use the funds towards a D850.

Magic Lantern released their update on april 1st so my hopes are high

How do you feel the GH5S compares to 1DC?

Wow did you receive a Oscar nod as well ... congrats buddy. 

I prove you wrong. Used Neuman footage, I did a 2 min graded and posted the result here in EOSHD, Andrew Reid and multiple other members elected it the best grade posted in the thread. 
If you do not know how to grade properly thats not anybody's fault but yours. GH5 V-LOG is extremely easy to grade. 
Now that the standard profile of the Canon looks better out of the box than GH5 standard - yes probably but this is not the question.

Ive done tests and have found when it comes to baked in profiles the 5DIV actually appears to have better IQ than 1DC. I should do a real review/test and see. I haven't tested the 5DIV Canon Log yet. Im sure its great

Although it’s fun to experiment with different lenses, for the cost of a 3 day rental, you can be halfway to the cost of ai-s 35mm 1.4 or buy an ai-s 35mm f2 outright. Or it could be money towards a Zeiss 50mm 1.4 ZF.2 which has been reviewed as being pretty close to superspeeds for a still lens. 
Sure the Otus will blow away those older Nikkors and the ZF.2 but in the end, the owned lens will be a better investment.

A new way to previs with your phone. You can program which camera you'll be using, and different focal lengths. Drop in characters, adjust their height, and sun/light placement. Then figure out blocking. It has a few funky bugs but it's freakin amazing for a free app.

sounds like you guys are talking more about post-production wow factor tricks than actual camera inherent mojo..
it seems shooting super-slomo at super shallow DOF + a LUT gets instant mojo approval yet i believe there's also mojo on the hardware side.
not that many cams have it imo.. it's a mix of color science, motion cadence, dynamic range, sensor type etc..
obvious mojo cams to me are Alexas, BMPCC 2.5K, 5D3 ML Raw, 1DC, Digital Bolex, D750, Fujis..  
of course one shouldn't underestimate the lens pairing either..

It's real estate.  As they say: "Location, location, location."
Basically, it's even naturally lit rooms with lots of ambient light so you don't need 13 stops of DR.  I've shot similar with a lowly 5DII.  High end properties are designed by high end architects that know what they're doing.  Light is a very high priority consideration.  Thus, these properties just look awesome all around.  You're shooting in space that has already considered the stuff that makes for impressive visuals.
This is high-end marketing so they're probably on a really good camera, but I'm not seeing anything too surprising regarding some impressively extended DR.  In fact, looks like they're over exposing a bit to grab shadow details.

It seems to me the best so far done/looks (at least what and how I've seen) achievement of GH5s...
 

Pretty much any DSLR made in the last 10 years is good enough for photos, unless your work is going on billboards. I prefer the colours of my D700 (ancient) do D750 sometimes.

You don't need a particularly high resolution for a billboard. 
 

Prediction- they'll put even more cool stuff in for a great price, and people who use it to shoot flower videos will still complain about it.
