Are you using rechargeables? In the menu you can choose which kind of batteries you're using. That helps a bunch!

Not at all. I've done it regularly to very good results. Bonus is I have the H6 recordings as back up to boot!

R6 looks promising, I do not need 8K, if it has the features showed in the rumors plus 422 10bit, clog and DPAF, is the way to go for most of us.

What is your issue? Are you clapping twice at the start of each take & using the NLE's built in features to sync by audio waveform?

In general, I would not recommend anybody buy new a mixer only in 2020, not when dedicated field recorders are so affordable.

The DR60Dmk2 is only roughly an inch bigger in each direction than the Beachtek DXA-MICRO-PRO PLUS you referenced before. (plus the DR60Dmk2 isn't as long as the H6, and also the Tascam has much better ergonomics to be mounted with the camera than the Zoom H6. The Tascam DR60Dmk2 is better ergonomics too if you wish to work independently from camera as a boom op with a field mixing bag)

There is also the Tascam DR70D (only twenty bucks more than the Beachtek DXA-MICRO-PRO PLUS), which is a smaller height than the DR60D.

Audio field recorders have a slower refresh rate than the constant update cycle of new mirrorless cameras. They're more similar to the refresh rate of cinema cameras.

None the less, we've seen some impressive new innovations in recent years! Here is what we've got just in the last three years:

On the high end: Sound Devices Scorpio (the first really high end premium recorder from Sound Devices? At least, this is priced even higher than the 788T or 970 was!), Aaton Cantar Mini (the goodness of the X3 but in a smaller/cheaper package!), and Zaxcom Deva 24 (has the usual futuristic Zaxcom technologies such as MixAhead™)

In the low/mid range: Sound Devices 833 (a "mini Scorpio" at a cheaper price! But with some I/O stripped out, such as no DANTE) + 888 (the recorder that finally made the 788T diehard holdouts upgrade!), and the Zaxcom Nova (their most futuristic product ever?? "The Future: Now!")

In the "no budget" arena: Zoom F8n (an update to their revolutionary F8!) + F6 (their smallest F series ever, and the first with 32bit), and the Sound Devices MixPre Gen2 series (finally the MixPre series has the firmware and hardware updates to make them worthy contenders to the mighty Zoom F series).

    MIA: Tascam and Roland.

For yourself, like the Sound Devices MixPre3 is the right pick for you I'd guess.

Only question I have left, is how many DR it will pack, as that is one department canon was dropping behind. (and for me one of the most important specs of the camera)

The guys at Cinema5d tested the new Full Frame Canon C500 Mark ii, and ranked it for the highest dynamic range for any camera they've tested (at 13.1 Stops), apart from the Arri.
    https://***URL not allowed***/canon-c500-markii-lab-test-dynamic-range-latitude-rolling-shutter/

They've obviously not rested any of the REDs and many other cameras, and I also suspect that the Arri would have scored a hair under 14stops, but they didn't have the guts to release the score, fearing backlash. Also, people have been mocking their dynamic range tests, like everyone else (including that former BBC affiliated gentlemen who scored the GH5s at 14.7 stops).

The S1H has the same sensor as the S1, which has a dynamic range of 14.5 stops in Stills mode (according to DXO mark, though not sure at what exact signal to noise ratio). Cinema5d calculated its dynamic range to be 12.7 stops for Video (different mode than stills, since it's for video, and 10-bit instead of 12-bit).
So, if the Canon C500 Mark ii was a stills camera, in still mode, one could probably add another 1.8 stops (+/-), to get about 14.9 stops or so. Which means, that Canon seems to have caught up with Sony's Image Sensors and maybe even surpassed them (the C500 Markii also has Class Leading Rolling Shutter for a Full Frame sensor). Also, the ability to pull up an image from almost 5 stops of underexposure, is also probably class leading for a camera at that price point (and maybe many above).
This probably means that the Canon R5 and other R Series cameras are also going to be extremely competitive for video as well as for stills. For the longest we've been ranting about Canon not having enough dynamic range, for stills or video, but I am guessing it's not just caught up with Sony, it's probably even beating it in many aspects.
If Canon can price their R Series reasonably, and not do the old Canon trick of disabling features, it could pose a serious threat to Sony and everyone else around.

    Hello,
Not sure you guys saw the stabilization on the FX9. But looks pretty great to me. Apparantly it saves gyro information in camera and the catalyst software uses it to stabilize it in post. (so kinda like the steadyxp, hopefully Blackmagic will implement this in their  next batch of camera's)

The point of this is just to entertain and motivate others to make, create even on this times.
PD: I had a Panasonic S1 that was let to me for testing. I used this for the film.

zerocool22 reacted to Andrew Reid in Western governments are criminally negligent over Coronavirus
There is a slow burning realisation and awakening in the UK and Europe (it will come to the US soon) that we have fucked up.
    Big time.
In Japan and Taiwan, simple early hygiene measures avoided a lockdown or economic crash. Thousands of jobs saved, but more importantly thousands of lives saved from the outset.
In January, the Japanese started to test in-depth for coronavirus and did case by case contact tracing and isolation. The public did their bit by wearing masks en-masse in public and using hand sanitiser. @BTM_Pix points out that most if not all shops had hand sanitiser on the entrance so people didn't unwittingly spread by handling goods.
At the same time, here in the UK our government did nothing. Business as normal.
In February our crackpot chief advisor started to float the theory of herd immunity, and amazingly the chief scientists and government itself went for this strategy straight off the bat, as the first cases reached the UK. When the scientists ran the numbers, it wasn't until over a month later... It would result in 2 million dead people, minimum.
The chief advisor Dominic Cummings is rumoured to have been advocating for the death of 2 million people as late as February 28th.
"At one private event at the end of February, Cummings outlined then government’s strategy at the time in a way that was summarised by some present as “herd immunity, protect the economy, and if that means some pensioners die, too bad.”
Meanwhile in Japan and Taiwan, the simple hygiene measures were leaving some of the most densely populated cities on Earth virtually untouched by the epidemic.
But for Italy things were rapidly going downhill. Another government who sat on their hands in January and February.
Italy's terrifying unfolding tragedy is a glimpse into the future for all of us... Just 2-4 weeks into the future.
In Italy, 20-30% of intensive care patients are aged 20-40. People with underlying health or lung problems are at great risk even if they're young.
Hospitals and health systems will collapse.
The sudden lockdowns required, will crash the economy, creating joblessness, government debt and hardship on a scale never seen before in modern times.
Meanwhile Japan remains open for business.
Sure, with some major events cancelled and the Olympics in doubt... But over in China, they are already going back to work.
Taiwan has some of the fewest cases and deaths per 100,000 people in the world, despite being on the doorstep of China.
    Hong Kong too.
In the West this is the biggest government manslaughter unfolding, that has ever been seen in our lives.
Italy, Spain, Germany, UK, US, we are all going to face utter darkness. Please takes step to protect yourselves from the government's handling of this in the critical early stages. It is going to get out of control.

Stay off the streets during a lockdown because a dickhead might run you over, check your blindspot before opening your door in case there is a dickhead approaching and you madam put that cigarette out in case the dickhead lands next to you and cries all over social media about you being a health hazard.
