  1. My experience with my own log profile on the d800 was that you want underexpose /protect highlights and denoise after. The log profile will hold your detail in the shadow and the under exposure will give you nice highlights.

Afterwards, instead of applying a S curve, try to just darken below midtowns. This way everything looks natural/cinematic.

External recording will protect the noise more.

I'm sure most of the Z7 customers are photographers who rarely record video. And they use factory default settings.

Those who want video oriented camera, will not buy Z7, nor EosR. The customers buy these cameras for photography.

And very few of the photographers are even heard about Davinci Resolve for example.

I was in several Sony Mirrorless/A7/a6xxx Facebook groups, and even after several years the "why my slog2 is so noisy" question is STILL on the table.

My point is: we, here on EosHD forums are only the small percentage of the users who actually want to examine 100% of the capabilities from these cameras. Others just use them out of box.

Shure man, you make no sense at all, what are you trying to argument? There has to be continuity between posts.

To get those skintones you have to purposely fuck up. Seems like we have another psycho.

  3. There must be a way to make a forum that also works like a flickr or instagram or youtube, facebook. Every user could have his "wall" where he has some sort of "blog"that is a more like a portfolio than it is a facebook wall.

The real story is that sharpness in 4K is a bad thing, not a good thing!

I remember an Interview with the ARRI chef where he explains how important it is to have a strong AA filter for motion vs stills. Basically he says that detail is percieved different in motion than it is in stills. In stills high acuity fine detail is nice, but in motion it creates undesired artifacts so film cameras need strong AA filtration in order to look natural.

Anyway, withat RS the EOS RS is unusable for video imho,

  5. I want to know about that holy grail canon lens. I really need to know.

I hope by now you have refused perfection, worked enough on your broken self image. If you had done this you would stop "preparing" or chasing magic bullets because your ego is too defensive to fail.

If you are taking computer science you should be coding on some open source project and let others judge your crap until it's ok. Please stop chasing windmills.

Max repeatedly stated that this was the first of several tests. I'd rather see his findings as he shoots them, then wait a month for a 40 minute video with all the results in every category.

Well if the other tests are like the frist one... Will he compare the dynamic range from 10bit log on the fuji with 8bit internal Vivid picturestyle on the nikon? Who knows...

Yeah of course it can be turned down far more, and in the Flat profile the micro contrast isn't as hard either.

You can change every parameter you want in any picture style, make your own ones,etc..

To me it looks like he just went for "standard" which is by default super sharpened and with clarity, so people in the store say "whoa this is supa sharp" like they do with TV sets.

1: Flat 2: Standard without sharpening and clarity 3: Default Standard picture style.

NO EXCUSE, especially for Canon. I agree the Z7 is a great camera I was just disappointed at the test from Max. But the camera in general is great, unlike the EOS R joke.

I will have to insist that the test his heavily flawed, the nikon looks bad because of sharpening and probably clarity settings in the picture style. Obviously the lineskipping in fullframe mode is not going away, but it won't look as bad.

What about turning sharpening down or off on the nikon? He probably also forgot to turn off "clarity" setting in the picture style which adds a lot of false micro-contrast. In fact all the nikon videos I see keep doing these begginer errors. I would have liked a comparison between the DX mode and the rest, because that one will be indicative of how the z6 will look.

AFAIK all RAW output is 1:1 pixel. Pixel binning, resampling, oversampling etc is for generating non RAW image data like Jpeg, ProRes , Tif etc. If RAW is resampled it's by definition not RAW IMO.

Aha, so Magic Lantern Raw is not Raw, right? Raw simply is non-debayered data. There are many ways to reduce pixel count without debayering. When a camera oversamples, it debayers the whole image and then scales it down, but if a camera pixel bins, then it reduces the pixels before debayering, if you take that data you will get raw with reduced resolution from the whole sensor.

  10. My Japanese cousin who's father in law is president of Panasonic Camcorder division confirms this. He told me that he needs to bribe higher instances to make this happen (even raw internal).

Since this is not exactly legal I can't start a kickstarter but if we can all agree on sending money to one western union account I think we could make this happen. Goal would be 100.000$ US (nothing if you ask me, I mean, full frame raw)

I'm currently based in Egypt, I hope that's not a problem.

  11. Last try,The camera, either eos r or nikon z7 (but that would invalidate your nope to the first post)

Lens is some sonnar type, so I would say nikkor-h f2 5cm or the contax zeiss sonnar 1.5 5cm, or maybe some russian clone.
