  1. Nikon lenses have a nice look, contrasty but not too contrasty (like canon or zeiss which burn blacks in my eyes), and plenty of sharpness (although I prefer more).

If they use this opportunity to make compact systems (not like sony lenses) it could be a nice system to complement a real Medium Format camera.

I decided to test some 48fps with the regular 14bit ML build. I processed it as Alexa LogC 24fps through the MLV App.

As suspected... since it’s less than HD... it’s soft, but for short close ups... it could work in a pinch.

Any updates on the slow motion capabilities with the experimental 10/12 bit modes?

Fuck you, the depth is impressive, love it. The 5D is a beast, I wouldn't call this filmic, to me it looks hyper-realistic.

@kaylee so are you using zebras to show the clipping, or are your eyes that trained to see it without any exposure aid?

I wish there was a way to set the waveform to a physical button, instead of it being on screen... with the tests I tried with it, I thought it worked well for skin tones, but it’s so small it’s kinda pointless. I find zebras distracting, so I use the Raw Histogram in the upper right corner because I tend not to compose any subject in that space of the frame.

    Can you elaborate?

I seems to me that's an super easy way to balance DR, let it clip where you want it, and then fill the shadows with subtle light if the contrast is too high to avoid noise.

  4. Hey guys, I don't have the time and nerve to read through all the unconnected magic lantern threads, so I'm asking here because I know I won't be tossed around ;) :

Can I record fullsensor raw without pink dots? Is it possible to shoot in 1080p mode, or is it still 720p mode? And if so, how? Thx really

  5. Crappy instagram filters. They are still in the app but nobody uses them anymore, it will be retroing the retro, back to 2009, all this lomography crap wave that happened to give crappy cellphone pictures some charme.

Or maybe poor HDR, or over sharpened small sensor digital camera pictures with noise reduction and jpg compression artifacts.

  6. I'm pretty shure they will sell this thing for at least 1799$ if they ever reach enough production capacity.

selling many cameras for cheap only works if they are very basic (z-cam) or if you have the production capacity (Canon,Nikon, etc)

Just my 2cents, I'm no insider nor expert

  7. I think this was just a way to keep them selfs relevant and that we won't see the camera until 2019, maybe some residual stock that won't even fulfill the preorders, and once in stock the price will be more something like 1899€.

Why announce a camera 6 months earlier...
