  1. What the hell is this video, @Andrew Reid? This is not at all how to make a Youtube video. Here's what's wrong: You need to start it with something like: "Hi guys, this is your boy Andrew here with EOSHD" You should have pink and teal background. X-mas lights at a minimum. Shallow depth of field? Everything's in focus! Where's the mic? You should be eating that thing! Think 25-30% of frame. Where's the obligatory Squarespace or Skillshare ad? If you can't get that, you should be at least pimping some software like "Cleanmymac". If you're going to talk trash about Canon, you should at the very least put some links to it on Amazon in case someone accidentally clicks on it. NEVER tell others what you actually think about product(s), certainly not after using them. You're just supposed shamelessly promote them or trash them, regardless of any usage. Focus on the specs primarily. Your thumbnail needs to have some super-inflammatory phrase (in yellow) with your mouth wide open. Here's an idea: "HASSELBLAD GETS DESTROYED? Plus, I lose my SH*T!" Finally, you look far too normal. Can't you shave your head or get a tattoo on your face? I'm sure there are more things wrong with this video. You've got to love Youtube nowadays.

  2. I take a look at what's been going on in cameras this week, with some thoughts on the GFX 100, EOS R6, Panasonic S1H and other "goings-on". Caution: some strong(ish) language. For more on my Hasselblad adventures see my review of the H3D II with HUGE Kodak CCD sensor here (past article): https://www.eoshd.com/review/guide-buying-cheap-hasselblad-medium-format-camera/

  4. Ah, I see… Not being an external recorder user, I wasn’t much interested in the last update. Still not. But that’s fine, everyone’s needs are as individual as they are. Maybe we’ll get an AF tweak thrown in for the rest of us. Here’s hoping…

  5. Another thing that stood out for me was the 'Adolf Hitler Moment' when Andrew picked up the R6...but somehow the rage was mostly contained in this instance. You do need a trademark gimmick however... Maybe a flat cap (being Northern) worn sideways. Think Norman Wisdom... In fact, there's a name for your channel, Andrew's Wisdom. "Ooh, Hironori Oishi-san".

  6. Bag? Singular ? In true YouTuber style, you'll have to market your own merchandise like this one - "Camera Bag - The Andrew Reid Edition"

I used to be into hifi and buying exotic valves and one of the stores that sold old valves started selling jewellery as well. Lots of hifi guys aren't the type to really understand women so maybe wouldn't know where to start and (maybe out of guilt / obligation) would just shop there as it was easy and they were already signed up etc. I have no idea how much they sold, but they still have a section of the site dedicated to it and their selection seems to have expanded! Maybe combine things? "There's a shortage of food, therefore prices have gone right up, that's why your car is missing AND I've brought less food home lately and the cupboards are bare. Oh, and BTW, people are getting desperate out there, so better to not go outside and see for yourself...."

    Which grade do you prefer

Yeah, that's a weird take and a misplaced analogy here. Who is saying taht there is no point in making the image (food in your anology) look (taste) good? Did you miss the comment I made about how I'm adding a color calibrated monitor to my editing workflow right now? Hell, I literally just had to stop typing this to go get the B&H package off my doorstep with the X-RIte Display Pro in it. What I said was "Having people view them on a variety of devices in a variety of conditions is even better, in that it replicates what the average viewer might be seeing." So, a better analogy would be a chef, say an Italian cuisine expert, testing two varients of a dish by having a variety of other chefs and home cooking enthusiasts try them; some of these chefs aren't going to be Italian cuisine experts, rather they might be sushi chefs or cook thai food or Argentinia BBQ. They will, however, be people who notice flavor, texture and presentation more than the average customer will. The whole point of this post is exloring what might one grade look better than another. We can't make our viewers color calibrate their laptop or phone screens or contor their ligthing conditions. But we can use the tools at our disposal, inlcuding scopes, color correct monitors, etc and then explore what other creators see and take away from what we're trying. This may not have the authority of scientificly rigourous testing, but it can give us somethings to think about. Going for subtextual analysis for your guess. Interesting, but an inaccurate reading of the clues. Not Sony. The camera is, in fact, expected to have good color. I'm interested in seeing if people can guess wihch camera not to hear how good people think it is but rather to poke at the idea that certain cameras have a "look" or, on the filp side, that most modern camera can look so good that it can be hard to distinguish them.

She's pretty smart, by the 3rd or 4th month, she'd probably catch on... I wonder how long it would take for her to realize her car isn't parked out front. That could get me halfway there.

  10. Used it on a shoot for the first time today. I was slightly worried about the fan noise beforehand but didn't even notice it on set. Certainly not enough to make me want to perform surgery on it and if there is any hum in the recordings, it should be nothing that a bit of noise reduction can't fix. I had a setup that was pretty much worst case scenario - a moderately wide shot looking out a window in to midday sun on a very bright day. It maxed out the FS300 but I was able to get a decent amount of wrap and fill on the subject. Lost the sky due to shooting in Rec709 (client request) but managed to keep most of the detail in the trees. I feel like if it had been log I could've saved the sky... maybe. It's a lot of light output for the price!

Fucking hell. Its UK only so I'm glad I can't get back in for a while ! This is covered in Chapter One of my new e-book "The Gear Addicts Guide To Relationships - If All Else Fails, Ask How Many Pairs Of Shoes She Has" "Honestly, they were empty. I knew you wouldn't believe me so I took this photograph to prove it. I didn't have my camera to hand so I popped into BH to grab one."

BH has one for $18k... I'm trying to figure out how long I can convince the GF that the supermarket was out of food.
