2. Hey, Was wondering if anyone could give me a hand with this. I am totally new to this topic, I know absolutely nothing about it. I work for a local movie theater, and they had an old projector upstairs, with this lens attached to it. The manager said I could take it, so I figured I'd post online to find out more about it, and maybe see if it's worth anything. I had troubles uploading the pictures directly, so I hope linking is okay on this site. Lens is in good condition, just needs to be cleaned up. Hasn't been used in years. Thanks in advance. http://tinypic.com/r/2d94izn/8 http://tinypic.com/r/c3xja/8 http://tinypic.com/r/mv46zb/8 http://tinypic.com/r/w811jn/8
 3. Hi, I'm starting doing anamorphic photography and EOSHD has been great helping me understanding this technic. I'm shooting with a Nikon Df that have a 3:2 ratio. My anamorphic adapter is a Kowa Prominar 16-H 2x. To find the aspect ratio, I took a photo at home to a circular box and squeezed the image until it turned circular. It gave me a ratio of 2,82:1, as you can see in this image https://www.dropbox.com/s/bmq13xv97syuzx5/DSC_7602_2%2C82.jpg?dl=0 I read an article somewhere that talked about a value of 2,66:1. I tried that but the box resulted a little ovalized https://www.dropbox.com/s/qxmxy9qtn9iokgi/DSC_7602_2%2C66.jpg?dl=0 Is my aspect ratio correct? I have this doubt because I can't find anywhere what's the best ratio when we are shooting in 3:2. My first anamorphic images with a 2,82:1 ratio https://www.flickr.com/photos/96852153@N00/sets/72157649089398262/ Thank you, Nuno Boavida
 4. I'm looking for reviews and comparisons of quality and functionality among the many different brands of 2x squeeze anamorphic lenses on the market. I am aware of the LOMO, Kowa Prominar / Kowa Bell & Howell etc... that are listed in the 'Anamorphic Shooters Guide' but was wonering from your experience and research what brand of 2x lens is the best value for money. Thanks.
 5. Not sure if this was posted anywhere, but great test footage of the GH4 4K + Sankor 2x Anamorphic from Martin Wallgren:
 6. Hi guys, I'm a bit of an anamorphic noob. I bought an Isco-Gottingen Animex S8/2x. It's supposed to be the same as a rebranded Iscomorphot 8/2x according to this: http://www.eoshd.com/comments/topic/2331-isco-gottingen-animex-s8-2x/ I bought it for 140 euros in perfect condition so I thought I was getting a great deal. I noticed straight that the image was very sharp. I just couldn't really get great anamorphic flares out of it. A least not as in this video: http://vimeo.com/60401188 Here are some test with the helios 58mm holding the Isco in front of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvTMM_m2_Gk&feature=youtu.be (little bit of an anamorphic flare) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5voYH6GNYDY&feature=youtu.be (using my phone as a flashlight, no anamorphic flares) Is there a way to make the flares more pronounced or could it be that the lens it MC?

 8. Hello Guys! Just a small example how good this combo is. Really happy with the results  ;)   D5200 used here because I'm waiting for my Nikon F to mft adapter. (Tilt and swivel lcd was very usefull in this situation to focus.)     This will be my setup with the pocket in a few days, I will use a 28mm, 35mm and this 50mm all from Nikkor.   https://vimeo.com/77586987     Best, JDS
 9. Hey all! First post here. I fairly recently got into anamorphic shooting. Since a young age, I wanted to be able to recreate the anamorphic footage. I used to use the magic bullet filter and crop my footage which looking back was really quite horrible and stupid. I bought a sun anamorphic lens off ebay for relatively cheap and am so happy! I made  short little film earlier out in the sun. It's of nothing really, just testing out equipment. I think it gives of nice results, although I find it hard to keep focus. Hope to use it on a project at somepoint.   https://vimeo.com/69722698
 10. Hey there! Also posted this here to get others opinions on my situation!   I'm Matej, a filmmaker from Slovenia, and I am slowly trying to get into the anamorphic video shooting, since I love the classic cinema look, that can be achieved. But since no one in Slovenia is actually shooting anamorphicly, it is almost impossible to find any anamorphic lens here in Slovenia. Somehow, luckily, a friend of mine, who collects vintage lenses, happens to have some anamorphic lens which he is willing to sell some of them to me. Now here is the main situation: He has some rathenowers 48/2x and 80/2x, and the 2 versions of Isco Gottingen Anamorphotic 2x kiptars, one with the focus ring and 2 of the versions without one.   One without: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sicovdplas/ One with it: http://cameramate.com/images/s_15909.jpg   I am now asking for advice, which one of the 2 versions would be easier to use with a DSLR (in my case 600D and a 7D)? I suspect, that the focusless version is easier, because I can just focus with my lens, if I get a couple of close up filters.   Another problem is that the 2 focusless versions have lots of dust in the lens itself so I'm wondering if that is a huge dealbreaker or can it be cleaned?   Cheers!
 11. Hi,   i've a general question. Is there any use of filming in MJPEG mode if i use an anamorphic adapter such as the century optix 1.33x?   Also, i tryed to switch my camera (after hacking it) to VGA Mode but i just could not find the MJPEG 1920x720/30p - what am i doing wrong here? Might the patch didnt work or is it just, thats not the VGA Mode and im trying the wrong video mode - which one is the right one?   Thanks for your help Emin
 12. https://vimeo.com/55892502   My city has been very foggy lately, so I've been happy to take my 2x Kowa anamorphic off the shelf.    Thanks for introducing me to this lens, Andrew.   And thanks to Nick Driftwood for all the cool hacks he puts out.   Trey
 13. Many people find that a 2x (3.55:1) aspect ratio is just too narrow for their liking. The good news is that if you are using a 2x lens and you have a DP4 monitor, you can compose and shoot in 1.5x. This allows us to enjoy all the benefits of 2x glass (greater availability, lower prices, more dramatically stretched bokeh) with none of the headache. Here's how to do it:

Choose a Preset number so that you don't have to make these adjustments every time (just scroll back to the Preset).
Under the Advanced Menu, go to Scale and select 2.35:1.
Go to Custom Scale and input the following values:

HSTART: 706

HSIZE: 94

VSTART: 500

VSIZE: 600
Now you are set to monitor in 1.5x. I have created an Apple Compressor setting that I just drag-and-drop onto incoming footage that squeezes AND crops the footage to 1.5x before I even begin my edit. It helps keep my render time down and I don't even have to deal with the trimmed footage area if I don't want to. These values may also work on the DP6, but I haven't tried it.

Its basically Instagram for live video streaming. MUST use Tokina Diopter and +1 diopter closer than 5 feet! (was getting too close to the models and they came out blurry!) 2. Can't go completely handheld - MUST use cowboy rig at least. Tripod is best. 3. run-n-gun is hard to focus both anamophic and taking lens 4. almost NO light loss from Kowa :)
