  2. Hi, I´m using a Sigma 18-35 1.8 with a Metabones Speed Booster on my BMPCC. What I noticed is that the left side of the image isn´t perfectly in focus while the right side is spot-on. If I try to get the left side as sharp as possible, the middle of the picture and the right side will be slightly out of focus. Please take a look at the pictures below. Notice how the very left side seems to be quite blurry, while the right side isn´t that bad. The aperture was 2.5. '> '> I´ve tried two Sigma 18-35 and two different Speed Boosters, but the results were exactly the same. Has anyone else noticed similar effects? I would be very happy if someone with a Sigma 18-35 and a SB tried to shoot something outside with the lens wide open and focus set to infinity.
  3. Hey everyone, I just got a brand new Sigma 18-35 1.8 Nikon mount and noticed that when I rotate the focus ring, I get 3 "stops" with audible clicks. It's not a smooth and quiet rotation of the focus. So naturally my question is does anybody else have it, and if that's the case, why nobody talked about this in their reviews? I feel this is not working well for run and gun situations when the audio mike is mounted on the camera. Very disappointing! I called Sigma tech support and they told me this was very much normal. It seems Sigma focus rings click... Do you have the same experience with yours?
  4. Hi everyone, I was wondering if I could get some insight, feedback, reviews, attempts etc at finding or modding a follow focus for older anamorphic lenses where the front element moves in and out like the Iscorama and Lomo roundfront lenses. Ive been leaning towards a lanparte follow focus and trying to join 2 of the smaller gears so hopefully the larger gear on the lens will just travel from one to the other. suggested by Mr Gale :) Anyone else have any experience on this. Is it even an issue....People have to have a solution for the Lomos at least. The Iscorama is tapered which puts friction FF's out of the question. Thanks everyone Rob B
  5. Hi guys, I've bought an Olympus OM10 film camera with a 50mm lens. Because I wanted a zoom lens to use with it I got through ebay a sigma 28-80mm f 3.5-4.5 UC zoom. I have just received the lens and I notice that sometimes half of the focus aim inside the viewer gets darker or black. If I'm not wrong it happend too with 50mm lens but then during my photoshots it never happened again. Does anybody knows why this happen?may it be because the camera had no film inside (I was just trying the lens) or because I was in a poor light environment? Thanks for everything guys!
  6. Hi, what experiences do you have with choosing the right aperture for the best possible focus? I use a gh2 + canon fd 50mm 1.4 + anamorphic adapter (century optix like) And i have very big difficulties to get any focus from objects more far away than 5 meters. Here a little test Any tips? Thanks a lot Emin
  7. Hey guys, Check out this kickstarter of the Lenzhound Wireless Follow Focus by Motion Dogs. They just released their newest update and are desperately trying to reach their stretch goals in order to supply us indie filmmakers with the best possible gear! I think this is a fantastic product and I can see myself using it non-stop on sets, especially since I am still in film school and every bit of speed and perfection on set really goes a long way. Anyway what do you guys think about it, and if you like it try and spread the word so that these amazing stretch goals can be fulfilled! Thanks guys! 8. Hey there! Also posted this here to get others opinions on my situation!   I'm Matej, a filmmaker from Slovenia, and I am slowly trying to get into the anamorphic video shooting, since I love the classic cinema look, that can be achieved. But since no one in Slovenia is actually shooting anamorphicly, it is almost impossible to find any anamorphic lens here in Slovenia. Somehow, luckily, a friend of mine, who collects vintage lenses, happens to have some anamorphic lens which he is willing to sell some of them to me. Now here is the main situation: He has some rathenowers 48/2x and 80/2x, and the 2 versions of Isco Gottingen Anamorphotic 2x kiptars, one with the focus ring and 2 of the versions without one.   One without: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sicovdplas/ One with it: http://cameramate.com/images/s_15909.jpg   I am now asking for advice, which one of the 2 versions would be easier to use with a DSLR (in my case 600D and a 7D)? I suspect, that the focusless version is easier, because I can just focus with my lens, if I get a couple of close up filters.   Another problem is that the 2 focusless versions have lots of dust in the lens itself so I'm wondering if that is a huge dealbreaker or can it be cleaned?   Cheers!
