Man I don't even want to ask how long it took to model animate and render that stuff... I started in the Late 90's On Newtek Lightwave 3D then moved to 3D studio Max... But could never Get my Legs in  MAYA (I really dislike Maya. Perhaps if I learned it first but back then it was a $15,000 Program and you had to have a $10,000 computer to run it!)
What did you use for this? I see by the credits only about 4 people worked on this.
If I had to make something I would probably use Cinema 4D + After effects.
    Any How: Verrry Cool.

Hi guys, just want to share a simple video of a Olive-winged Bulbul which flew and perched on a tree just right in front of me at the local zoo. Shot with hacked Samsung NX1 with a 45mm 1.8 with AF and DIS on. At 4K UHD 180mbs, the details looks very good to me. Please ignore the background noise though as it was in the zoo afterall.

Hey  thanks to all for the awesome grades you did. Its making mine feel too "Pinky" in comparison.
P4k Shot it back in Dec I think 2 or 3 updates ago...
It was a very loose random "shoot" just messing around.  was mainly trying to test out a $900 Lumix G II 12-35 2.8 that had a scratch on it. I scored for $200 on the ebay... you can only see it well when in certain light and it just looks Kinda blurry.
Id say its acceptable "Character" for a $700 discount.
Here is the full Vid if Interested....
Shot it 1080p and uprez'd to 4k for output.

So I've seen some derision about Pocket4K regarding it crashing or behaving erratically, as well as issues with the batteries. I thought I'd share my experiences with these.

Short version: The battery that comes with the Pocket is utter, utter shit. Use original Canons instead and you'll see way less issues.

    Long version:
That battery really is shit. I really can't overemphasize how shit it is.
So, for me Pocket 4K was a no-brainer because I already had a lot of it's necessities lying around - Cfast2-cards, tons of compatible batteries. So, the latter has meant that I've been able to run the Pocket with not just the battery it comes with, but with a couple of relatively fresh (2-year old) OG Canon batteries as well as a few different off-brand ones (4-5 years old). So here's a short summary on how they have performed:

    Original Canon LP-E6:
    - No problems, can be charged in-camera or with my canon rechargers. Displays remaining battery accurately. No surprise shutoffs.
    - Drains the slowest of all the batteries I've tested. Still pretty fast, but quite manageable. Usually end up using 1-2 batteries a shooting day (b-cam).

    Off-brand LP-E6:
    - Like Canon, can be charged anywhere.
    - Depending on the off-brand battery, might or might not display the remaining charge accurately.
    - Can go from 40% to empty in seconds. So the 0-40% range is a bit of a wild card. May be due to inaccurate charge display or these might just be plain old and tired.
    - Drains faster than the Canon.

    The Blackmagic... thing:
    - Can't be charged with Canon chargers, causes them to enter fault mode (continuous blinking.) Occurs with both my chargers. Googling the issue has led me to find others with same experiences. Can only be charged through the camera.
    - Charge display is just whatever. Can go from over half-full to camera shutdown in seconds.
    - Sometimes works like an off-brand one. At worst, from full charge, lasted me around 3 minutes of recording before the first shutdown.
    - And notice the above? "First shutdown"? That was today. So, apparently the blackmagic battery is prone to just dying momentarily when there's a large power drain present. So what happened was, I set the camera to record, with battery at around 75-80%, and after a few seconds the battery meter goes haywire and the camera shuts down. Then it boots up again, and the battery shows up at 75%. Guess what happens when I hit record? Rinse and repeat. That was the moment I chucked the battery. Switched to Canon originals and the rest of the day went without a hitch.

So, taking from this, I think some of the reported erratic behavior can be traced to the completely all over the place quality of the original battery. Having the camera reboot itself during recording is something that could be blamed on the camera if you have no way to troubleshoot and find the real culprit - which was the blackmagic battery. Maybe there are good ones too, but to stay on the safe side, I'd recommend just using it as a last resort backup at most, and sticking to Canon originals or maybe some higher-quality off-brand ones.

Don is one of my/our good fellows here. Just stubborn like hell : D He never shot with one or he would arrive to the same conclusion as I've arrived.
Today as for instance. I brought with me literally inside my pocket my GX80 for a family's celebration in a restaurant. Great monochrome output BTW. When arrived to home for the second part, I immediately changed for my fav cam ever: the new P4K. I completely missed how ease is to set up and shoot. A pleasure to be with. The more I shoot the more I regret to not have it a few years earlier. It is a perfect device to me and definitely to everyone who starts shooting with one.
@webrunner5 dare yourself to buy one mate and you'll never desire to replace it.
    Mark my words : -)
    4592 x 2584 JPEG shot on GX80

    1920 x 1080 grab from ProRes PXY shot on P4K 25fps aka 25p

Both straight out of the camera with zero grading.
    Still room for any doubts?

When you come from an intuitive menu like the P4K is to a much complicated BORING menu of these small digital devices you promise to yourself to never underestimate these Aussie goodfellas... LOL

Pleased to announce that my Pocket4K app for Android is now complete and is with beta testers so barring any calamties will be available from the Play store on the 21st of December.

Here is a screen shot with a quick run through of the features from top to bottom :

Across the top we have the controls for Aperture, ISO and shutter angle.
Next up we have the colour temperature and tint controls, the preset white balance selectors, the Auto White Balance button and, of course, the Record button.
Beneath that we have the 8 snapshot memories which you can use to store and instantly recall 8 different custom settings of ISO, Aperture, Shutter Angle and White Balance. To store the preset you long press on the memory slot that you want to use and to recall it just short press. Haptic feedback is given to indicate that the preset has been written and the currently loaded preset is denoted in orange (M1 in the shot above). Presets are stored in non volatile memory so are always available in any session.
Next is the focus controller, which is operated using the slider and/or the fine tune buttons. A long press of the button moves instantly to closest focus and infinity respectively. The AF button in ths row activates the single shot auto focus.
To accompany the focus controls, you then have 6 memory slots (A to F) to store focus points and you can switch instantly between them by simply pressing the required one. In addition, next to these are the controls for A-B-A focus transition and the speed control. Again, all focus points are stored in non volatile memory for use in any session.
Finally we have the controls for applicable MFT power zoom lenses with the same interface as the focus controls (including long press for instant minimum/maximum zoom) and 4 non volatile memory positions for later recall.
There is another function that it can do that I'll let you know about closer to release date and I will put up a little demo video of it in action late next week.

My general battery solution has been this....
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XWTY96G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
ITs looks just like the classic Juicebox battery here but it costs $40 Less. and comes with many adapters.
    https://www.amazon.com/Juicebox-Battery-Blackmagic-Cameras-Production/dp/B073BMTFFJ/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1544257154&sr=1-3&keywords=juice+box+battery
I connected it with the P4k Dc cable pack.
it seems to work pretty good I haven't used it till it died yet but Powered my p4k and my SmallHD DP4 together for about an hour and it dropped to around 66% doesn't seem bad considering the DP4 is a power hog in my opinion.
The voltage meter works very well.

    I also came across this
    https://www.amazon.com/XTPower-MP-50000-Power-Bank-Notebooks/dp/B00N4XK7RG/ref=lp_9455594011_1_7?srs=9455594011&ie=UTF8&qid=1544257835&sr=8-7
its seems to be the same thing but newer and 60% battery more life than the older ones above.   but at $200 your already flirting with Vmount territory.

Yes the menus are fantastic, the general control layout - I did not realise this until today when I finally put it in my hand - is lovely. Much nicer than I expected. Even the polycarbonate plastic construction doesn't bother me. If anything it's good, because it makes for a very lightweight construction. This is a big camera by mirrorless standards but a TINY and light on by pro video standards, let alone cinema RAW proportions.
Yes there are baffling decisions going on but a lot of common sense too. I still do not like Blackmagic's launch strategy and initial shipping quantities, it is ridiculous to be tormented for months with a mix of teasing and social media hype - I almost went mad - but believe me it is worth the wait. Again like BTM says, far from perfect, or without quirks - but it is different to anything else I own and a worthy upgrade from the original - in fact it is SIGNIFICANTLY better than that first camera in every way. Something I did not realise until I actually turned up.
I am going to have so many words to eat from this thread, I'll probably choke to death.
  25. Thanks
