    Wow.
What I also don't like is the idea that it's ok for advertisers to bombard us everywhere we go, but we're not allowed to photograph it. So, they can fill our mind-space with their products to make money- but we would not be legally allowed to record it ourselves. That's like a one way street.

the Internets a big target for a lot of reasons. no doubt governments will or are looking for their slice of the pie and its no secret that governments need more money not to mention those corporations that whisper into their ears . unfortunately due to an lack of common sense and a lot of apathy  and a propensity for political correctness  most people collectively aren't much smarter than a herd of cows they are counting on the fact as proposed that it will create mass hysteria, everyone will have a hissy fit.it will get watered down  till everyones happy and eventually pass , but by then you will need to obtain a permit to stay within the laws and seeing not government does anything for free it gonnna cost you $$ .its just an additional revenue  stream some crazy smart person has come up with. film corporations already pay $$ to make movies in cities and popular spots and not so popular.why not get a slice of  the little guy  that does youtube or vimeo as well  ? i bet a bunch of of permits from the little guys would add up to a truck load of money.

there's a pentax m42 50mm f1.4 that has 8 blades it's a little rarer but not impossible to find, but you already have a fd 50 1.4 with eight blades so maybe not much interest for you.

I got a couple of vintage lenses today for my new MFT setup, and I couldn't be happier.  In fact I was so excited that when I discovered I'd bought the wrong adapter (who puts "M42-MFT" in the title of an eBay auction for a Nikon-MFT adapter - seriously!) that I cut a small section of PVC pipe to act as a spacer and tried a few free-lens style tests.
All frames are grabs from 4K 50p 8-bit 150Mbit HLG file exported to Prores 422.
    Hellios 44M-4 58mm F2 on MFT (2x crop makes it 116mm FOV)

Yashica yashikor 28mm f2.8 (2x crop makes it 56mm FOV)

and lucky last, just for comparison, my decidedly non-vintage native MFT Panasonic 14mm F2.5 pancake lens.

The vintage lenses look so much nicer.  The GH5 was on AWB so I'm not sure if the changes in the colour came from the lens or AWB or late afternoon sun.  However, notice the lovely elliptical bokeh of the Hellios, and the lowered contrast of the vintage lenses.  Also, the highlights have a bit of flare on the Yashica that look like a slight Tiffen Black Pro Mist filter, very nice.  That might also be due to the front coating being basically worn off on that lens
I haven't shot into the sun with these yet, so no idea on flares, but they look pretty darn good to me.  Even the files with only 150Mbit look so nice - reminding me a little of the soft but clear look of the original BMPCC.  This is what I was hoping for in the GH5 / vintage lens combo.
I've got a Nikon Nippon Kogaku Cine-NIKKOR-C 13mm F1.9 lens on its way that is a gamble about if it will cover the MFT sensor, and I will pick up an 8mm SLR Magic at some point too to round out the set, but very nice so far..  With the exception of ordering the right M42-MFT adapter, I couldn't be happier!  and considering you can't even buy a sensibly sized memory card for what I spent....

    dear lord i hope so,
because i have 5 or 6 takumars myself that i also hope to utilize on the p4k
some suspect that the lens won't hold up for 4k but i haven't seen anything definite yet

I am upset there is no pop up flash. For a camera that has stills capability this is a bad decision for a camera at this price point and will put off many buyers. They have not included an EVF to make it more familiar to people who transition from a mobile phone but why then do they not make it go in a pocket like a mobile phone but then lie to everyone and say it's a pocket camera? It's easy for them to give away software as it doesn't cost anything to make and doesn't add any weight to the camera but why do I need software to use this camera when other cameras work fine without it? Also there is no lens with the camera so that is an extra item you will have to buy and I don't see this mentioned in any of the videos. If BM don't make lenses then they shouldn't be selling cameras to people as this is like selling a car to someone without wheels. It seems BM do not care about customers who haven't got a clue.

no experience with the tru horizon, but  i do have a s40 steadicam. $40 aus,  reasonable price i thought.  its cheap, but it seems sturdy enough  for what its got to do, its smooth in all the axis movements and moves freely with no play. i would expect the pricier models to be the same if not better somehow , maybe better damping perhaps. as i have watched a few videos on line and mine seems to take longer to settle when its setup but i suspect i'm missing a technical principal but i don't know which lol. i did consider a carbon fiber model but the fact that even though its carbon fiber,  depending on the camera on top and the weights on the bottom i didn't feel that carbon fiber could make much difference to the total weight saving, perhaps it does. that was one aspect i  didn't take into consideration the weight difference between an alloy or carbon fiber steadicam  in my research
balancing the unit is is where you gonna spend some time. it does pay off spending time getting it balanced nicely. depending on how much you pull it apart for travel will affect how much time it takes to set up the next time you use it. my quick release bracket for the go pro cameras has dual bubble level at 90 degrees i find it most useful when setting up. little changes to the rig make do change the balance and make it like you gave the camera to a drunk  and so must be rebalanced. don't ask me how i know this ?
it does get heavy or tiring quickly. how tiring depends, if your walking around filming a country fair then your gonna need a bionic arm . if its shorter takes then it may not be such an issue but will still need breaks unless your built like Arnold Schwarzenegger,  perhaps i should workout more. as mentioned above lots of practice. i have heard it said, walk like a ninja not sure how accurate that is but you do need a more considered approach for ultimate smoothness.
a vest and arm system sounds great, anything that takes the weight off that hand, wrist, arm  will make for a much more tolerable day  but it does come back to your use and length of shots that you anticipate  and from my little research adds another $500 or more to the cost of a steadicam and i haven't arrived at that stage yet, but everyone's need are different.
some shots of my rig. i set it up like this to do some comparisons between my gopro cameras i'll change things back to a more conventional setup later. the gopro mic adapter arrived last week and it needs a little mount made for it as it swings in the breeze at the moment i also had to lift the mic up abit otherwise it intrudes into the video other than that it works ok. i hope some of the above helps

A lot of it is laughably blatant.
Whatever happened to subtly and subliminally pushing your brand at people?
Anyway, I'm just going to have this cup of coffee and watch this develop with a keen interest.

not sure if its been put forward before or even if you have considered it yourself, but why not have a donate button on your front page for a popular product you could raise some money buy the latest camera or lens, review it post your review. hold on to it for a couple of months for an extended review then hold a forum lottery with one of us lucky subscribers who donated  winning it. i haven't pre booked the bm4k yet because... well been burned before going down that path so i can wait a few weeks or more if it's that good and everyone raves about it. i would think more than a few of your subscribers could wait short period for an honest review as well. i not saying that i would be throwing money your way every week but i could afford a couple of dollars once a month if there was a chance of winning something immediately more useful than say a school raffle plus the chance to win something would have to be better than winning the national lottery surely. that way we help you to help us your not beholden to the manufacturers of the tech we all enjoy.if it proved popular i would think after a short period any manufacturer that had a good bit of gear and knew it  would be happy to send a unit in for review. well thats my 2  cents. i guess in about 12 hours from now when i log back in i'm either a genius or condemned to one of the 7 lower hells more likely lol

i don't know who faulkner is so i have no idea if that's a compliment or not :) . perhaps i need to be more concise or word it differently, most people on here seem excited by this new camera i'm excited too but more reserved. i presume this camera will be overkill for my needs which is fine. i may need to upgrade my desktop but then i have done that before as well althrough less fine but to be expected. i hope that the lenses i have accumulated will also be adaptable  pretty easily with either pentax screwmounts or canon fd lenses.  i guess at heart i'm a happy snapper who'd like to venture into video, but i have no experience with earlier bm products so who knows perhaps you can enlighten me ? . and yes my thought processes do float around abit comes from falling from the first floor  as a baby i kid you not i'm sure my consciousness either floats around or flows i'm too scared to think about it too deeply about it  if you ask around i'm sure there's be a couple who would say there's at least a vortex or two and maybe a black hole at the center as well. but you learn to live with it after awhile. you been able to glean much from my earlier flow of consciousness but lets talk less about me and more about the bm4k cause you know the others will get jealous. as you seem to identify well with animals having an elephant as an avatar i pose this simile for you that i cant help but think we are like little puppy dogs chasing our tail when it comes to resolution and how much we think we need  ? when will it stop before or after our eyes lose the ability to tell the difference or after our wallets are empty and at what point does resolution become gluttony for the eyes ? i'm kinda happy with 1080 maybe 4k will be spectacular i am undecided at the moment i will probably grab one if it performs spectacularly because i like tech as well

    hello and welcome,
i'm new too, i was looking at a hilux 264  on ebay aswell for about  $125 australian. all i know is prisms are less popular as anamorphics not sure why. i think you can do anamorphics with a prism but it is the road less traveled i did find something but it was when i first started looking and i suspect it may have something to do with the look and a prism may give you a different look compared to a ''normal'' anamorphic lens. i  ended up buying two different brands of projection lens to play with neither where prisms. hopefully someone far more knowledgeable  will chime in with a suitable reply.
