Whats with the anti-premiere topics lately? If you don't like the product don't use it. Premiere has it's flaws like all the video editing programs but it's still reliable and has been solid for me tbh

    You’re right.
I know countless people using the GH5 for serious video work. I’m one of them and everybody is fine with it, and never questions it. I use it alongside the EVA1 and the GH5 performs brilliantly, every time.

I have the S1 and plan to buy a second.
    Here’s my reasoning:
I preordered then purchased at full price the S1 body/24-105 “kit.” The overall build quality of the amazing body and lens, BASE (pre-July firmware) specs and overall still and video performance justified that price. Plus, I received $300 off lens full retail when purchased as kit. Add a free $87 battery and $347 grip (improves portrait ergos and triples shoot time) and you have an amazing deal ($734 savings so far.) Add free warranty extension for two additional years and — wow! Add $199 film maker firmware update for FREE and I’m effing GRATEFUL! Add a second body for $550-$850 off with trade in and bonus (total) AND free film maker firmware AND 3 year warranty AND...
Total discount (not including value of 2 3-year warranties) when compared to buying all items separately:
    2 S1 bodies, 2 firmware upgrades, 1 24-105 f/4, 1 extra camera battery, 1 S1 battery grip.
Retail total $7123. My total $5044!
And, we can expect 1600MB/s CFExpress compatibility at 1tb capacity.
And I have in hand passive legacy glass adapters for Nikon G, Nikon F and Minolta MD.
And Sigma native primes are coming.
And Kipon makes a Mamiya MF focal reducer.
Nothing YET from Metabones, but just imagine what they’ll offer based on prior offerings...
    I could go on.
Seriously. How can everyone not be buying S1s?

    Hello!
I have new stills from a recent shot I was DPing. It's another theme, Kinda of game of thrones thing ?. I think this is a good point of reference to see how color look in this type of forest/swamp with those costumes and production design. Here i used some old vintage Takumar lenses because of the organic look they have, i think they help to sell the fantasy theme.
I use the same procedure I always do, and my style of grade using GHa Daylight to LogC. And diffusion LOT of diffusion!

    A7III Pros:

    - better autofocus
    - better low-light
    - better dynamic range
    - lighter body
    - larger full-frame sensor(for shallower DOF)

    GH5 Pros:

    - 10bit 4:2:2 codecs
    - ALL-I codecs
    - 4k DCI
    - anamorphic modes (open gate 5k)
    - anamorphic de-squeeze
    - load 4 custom luts for v-log l preview
    - better IBIS
    - lighter lenses
    - 4k 60fps
    - 1080 180fps
    - variable frame rates
    - waveform & vectorscope
    - smaller m4/3 sensor (deeper DOF for same aperture)
    - full-size HDMI port
    - syncro scan
    - less rolling shutter
    - fully articulating touchscreen
    - Lots of factors here and m43 can do a lot with DOF as well. m43 can use a focal reducer which makes it more like a APS-C sensor size in terms of DOF. You are now only one stop away from the same DOF as FF. Shoot f4 comfortably on FF? Well f2.8 is pretty easy to get on m43 even with zoom lenses and can easily match the DOF of FF. This is again such a non issue unless you insist on having razor thin DOF from FF by shooting 50mm f1.2. Optically not the best solution and almost impossible to focus with for serious production work where clients pay you. It honestly only takes a sliver of extra effort to achieve similar DOF on m43. Can't replicate every situation but the importance is much less significant than you think it is. Plus very few Hollywood movies actually use that shallow of DOF. They shoot s35mm (close to APS-C size) and not FF and they tend to stop down their lenses to f4 or f5.6. Extremely easy to match that on m43 and even easier once you add a Speedbooster which essentially makes the GH5 an exact match to s35mm size sensors. On the GH5s using a Speedbooster XL gets you around a 1.2x crop which is half way between APS-C and FF so not a huge difference in terms of DOF.
The exelent IBIS, strong codec, robust build quality, great film maker ergonomics, 40k 60p and full size HDMI makes it feel like a more profesional camera then the whole a7 serie.
I owned both but choose to keep the GH5 and sell the A7s. Also used the A7s MII allot.
I sometimes miss the full frame aspect, but not to much. I don't miss any DR since I think the Slog3 and Slog2 is unusable in the A7 serie for the weak codec.
So I actually feel the GH5 has more DR since the robust codec let's you play around with the levels better.

Of course it's not, i just said it's easy to find f2.8 lenses that matches the f4 of ff which is still 'okish' dof. What really makes the GH5 specifically useful to me are two lenses that after trying different things are now keepers:
Olympus pro 17mm f1.2 and the 45mm f1.2 combined with Ibis and the full manual focus on the lenses make it a everyday tool on every production. I keep a 35mm 1.4 Glied to the eva1 and have a wide and portrait equivalent of 35mm f2.4 and a 90mm 2.4 in FF terms but with 1.2 light gathering. All together a very good package.

Cool.  Sadly, there are a lot of people running around thinking the 12-35 f2.8 is the same as a 24-70 f2.8 Canon L lens.
I run my GH5 with the Voigtlander 17.5mm f0.95 on by default, an SLR Magic 8mm f4 for getting those 'wow' landscapes or interior shots, and am still working out my options for the 80-120mm equivalent length (in the running are a few 50/55/58mm lenses from Minolta, Pentax, and Helios), and also the options for sports lenses.
On my trip I used the 17.5mm maybe 80% of the time, the 8mm maybe 10% and the 58mm the other 10% of the time.  The right trio of lenses and you're ready to just work and get shots, it's great when the gear gets out of the way like that.

I picked a copy of this magazine up at the airport when I was back on the Island this week, primarily because it featured an interesting piece with Jihua Zheng, the co-owner of Kinefinity.
As a gentleman of a certain age (and increasingly uncertain age due to my expiring memory) I have to say its very reassuring to pick up an actual paper publication to read equipment reviews and editorial content.
Its also reassuring after all the "are they or aren't they being paid for this?" doubts about YouTube reviews in particular to see real unambiguous adverts on a page so you know exactly where the money is coming from.
Ditto that what little advertorial content there is in it being clearly labelled across the page as being so.
Also, because it isn't created on the hoof on the back of press junkets or off re-cycled press releases it has a bit more diverse content too rather than just feeding the hype of whatever is the flavour of the month. Or flavour of the second in a lot of cases.
For me at least, it provides if not a complete alternative then certainly an interesting addition to the deluge of online stuff.
And its a far easier medium to consume when you are on a plane and don't have wifi as well
Hopefully it will get the support it needs to grow further

    Some more observations....
    1. The noise in 2.8k sensor mode for 2K 120fps in VLOG is crazy! Could be user error though as I didn’t black balance. Will test more.
    2. Footage feels much smoother and distinct compared to GH5. Colours suddenly look a lot more dull on GH5. Saying that, the GH5 holds its own.
    3. White balance temp response seems off. Different to GH5 results in same situation. Maybe user error. Test more.
    4. Think you must use the garbage LCD to operate playback. Hope I’m being dumb and there is a manual way. The LCD doesn’t deserve to be on this camera in any way.
I’m knee deep editing the project and will share once released!

If Canon had not made silly choice of an extreme crop in 4K, I would have bought the Eos R. It would have been the perfect B-cam. As it is I added a Nikon Z6... which can be made to match pretty darn well.

Jon, here in Greece the couples that are getting married really do not really care about image quility. They care more about the brand(if the photographers are famous). I have seen some terrible video in the wedding industry and people are loving it because they are just... bad. And also the wedding industry will always be male dominant. She just got famous of good marketing as you can see because her image is terrible. Marketing is key.

I was going to film a wedding in a Church and I saw those two guys before me shooting there with 2 a7sii without lighting and I asked them. Where is are your lights? 'Muh a7sii shoots at 25000 iso'. I lost it there. And these guys are booked a full year.
