Mark Romero 2 got a reaction from Mako Sports in EOSHD Opinion - The Sony A6400 is an absolute turkey
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the a6400 is going to have annimal eye af. It should have the real-time tracking improvement out of the box, and the a9 is supposed to get that in April, but unfortunately it doesn't appear like the a7 III nor the a7R III will have that real time tracking.
The a6400 isn't a new version of the a6500 (which has IBIS).
It is an update to the a6000 / a5100 / a6300 that is (not surprisingly) geared primarily to stills shooters. The launch price of the a6400 is LESS than that of the a6300 (which, again, didn't have IBIS).
Despite some bozo in Sony marketing saying it is an ideal vlogging camera, it quite obviously is not. On the other hand, there are a suprisingly large number of people who use their a6300 to vlog. go figure.
There are a LOT of diehard fans of the a5100 (with a similar flip up screen) who take still selfies. This is probably who they REALLY had in mind.

How is it a bad sensor???
I've been using my a6300 / a6500 professionally for two years now (95% stills, 5% video) and the sensor is certainly very capable. For stills it was 90% of the quality of my D750, which has a sensor that people rave about. It was good enough that I was fine with selling my D750 and all my Nikon gear.
And I have never had a client complain about the quality of an image I have taken with my a6300 / a6500 cameras, so either I am a BRILLIANT photographer or the sensor is not quite the heap of fecal matter you claim it to be. (I did have one client ask me to reshoot some video footage but that was due to operator error as opposed to a "shit sensor.")
Sure, there are 714 other horrible things about the a6300 / a6500 camera lines which are well documented and have been discussed, but the sensor was hardly one of them (unless you are specifically focusing on something like Rolling Shutter, which is indeed quite bad).

Ah but the thing is that if Sony has a button that is 1mm out of place for most people that makes it unuseable while Canon (and Nikon) could make a camera that only takes a picture every second time you push the button and that would be neither here nor there!

Just merging your two recent threads a bit.

guns don't kill people, farmers with pretty daughters kill people with guns ?
guns are designed for one thing only to kill other things either close up or far away
pros : they fast acting... unless badly targeted
    cons : can be noisy
i have guns however i own a farm and they do get used for dispatching sick animals and feral animal control. the vast amount of people in this world do not need guns. if you need a gun for protection then there is something fundamentally wrong with your society. more guns wont fix that all you'll get is more mourning on both sides of a bad equation.
with the internet . unfortunately there is no sorting hat that can segregate dumb-asses into a separate kindergarten level like internet. that would be like heaven but more tech inclined and less harps ?   so when visiting an online forum one should wear protection. actually protection should be mandatory especially for brief interludes with the opposite gender that would prevent even more dumb-asses from being created. heck lets just legislate to breed, you need a permit and pass a test .... a marriage license just doesn't cut it anymore   ?

G85 Autofocus sucks (it sucks on GH5 as well, I have one).
EOSm50 DPAF is a game changer for vloggers, my partner couldn't give a toss about 4K (or IQ much in general), she just wants reliable AF and a file she can edit on a regular laptop computer (same as most other vloggers out there).
For the reccord I would never buy an EOSm50 as my sole camera, but I'm not a vlogger  .
Most regular people don't vlog in 4K (even Casey doesn't anymore). EOSm50 autofocus in 1080p is amazing.
Vloggers want reliable autofocus unfortunately. I'd agree a G85 is a much nicer camera otherwise, but it's falls short in the one key feature in which most vloggers care about most.
p.s. Also if you've ever used an m50 you'd see how intuitive and helpful it is to use for people who aren't super into cameras. The scene specific timelapse modes is also a great touch.

    If a person doesn't need:
    5th & 6th inputs.
    Time code.
    Hirose power connection.
    XLR outputs.
    Metadata entry.
    USB interface.
    Flexible file naming.
    (& much more)

Then yes the Tascam DR70D could be a worthy lower priced option.

But those other things I mentioned are VERY handy. Some are essential even (such as TC & metadata entry) if working as a sound recordist on bit bigger productions.
But if you just need the basics of a 4 ISO track recorder then the Tascam DR70D will be fine enough for now.

Mark Romero 2 reacted to Kisaha in Nikon Z6 + Ninja V vs Blackmagic Pocket 4k
I am not sure why we have to do this comparison.
The Pocket, is the smallest, lightest and cheaper Cinema camera, that can film your kids play in elementary, or a short film that can be shown to a cinema screen.
The amazing thing with this camera is that brought - almost - cine quality to the masses, while you can stick a cheap stabilized m43, be it tele, or all arounder PZ, and do your everyday thing. It is completely unfair to treat this camera like the next hybrid.
If you want a good all around camera, you have already one, the NX1, stick the 16-50S on it and go out and gain some money, and for what? for 600-800$? Keep it for a year (and a half!) and then sell it for the same money, probably.
If you are searching for a new hybrid system to support, then Z seems like the most complete proposition right now, but seriously, what are the native lenses choices? I am waiting on all those systems until are mature enough, that means at least 5-8 lenses that I really need, and the Pana-Leica-Sigma will be competitive, it is a very interesting alliance, I wouldn't buy anything without seeing what they offer first.
If one searches for a cheap cine camera, that can be used for everything, from filming your daughter's birthday, to your sons basketball game, to weddings, music shows, short film, even a feature, B cam/crash cam to the big boys, then P4K is the one and only, it is a steal really, but it is not a full frame hybrid, certainly not!

I guess there are a couple of different RAW formats.
I know there is Cinema DNG, which I am guessing is just sort of a "collection" of dng images strung together (Why, no, no one has ever confused me for an electrical engineer, why do you ask???)
Black Magic has a Black Magic Raw (I think it might be called "BMRAW", although I might just be confusing that with the name of someone who plays hockey for the Rangers).
And then there is the ProRes Raw which is - according to the pedia of wiki:
    ProRes RAW
In April of 2018 Apple released ProRes RAW. It is built upon the same technology as other ProRes codecs, but is directly applied to the raw data coming from the sensor, thus delaying the debayering process to the post-production stage. ProRes RAW therefore aims at quality and better colour reproduction, rather than performance.
Now, if you happen to have a curious mind - or just way to much time on your hands - you can read up on ProRes Raw from the White Paper that Apple Released (which is good, because black paper makes it much hard to see the ink...)

Very few people ever have a job they really like. It is pretty much about the money if you have a family to support. Pretty much any job gets boring after awhile. Might as well just pick one that you make a lot of money and go do stuff you enjoy that year on your off time.

If the differences comparing SLog 2 to ProRes Raw are minor, I have to imagine even less difference when comparing 10 bit NLog to 10 bit ProRes Raw. I’ll need to see footage before I’m convinced. Imo, they should have focused more on fixing requested bugs and adding requested features. Now if this was 14 bit raw video things would be different. But as things stand... Idk. You will not see more dynamic range. That will still be set to whatever it is limited to. They need to put out some footage.

I don't think it does - but the HDMI is limited to 1080p only.
Since it does Internal RAW or to an SSD though, it wouldn't benefit from having it on HDMI - you can get the same end result with a much cheaper, or even no monitor.

Why are you transcoding? You will loose image quality for a start and Resolve has various methods like Proxies, Optimised media and render cache to enable you to work with easier codecs in the timeline and then render the final result from the original source footage so you don't loose quality.

I do not know the others, but came from another winner the NX1. I have the X-T3 since a few weeks and I am really impressed about filming with the Fuji. Only the size and feeling in hands, battery life ... NX1 still winner. The X-T3 produces colourfull footage also when there is less light. I filmed recently at 'Winter Efteling' in the Netherlands, most shots during evening and even night. Very colourfull and even at ISO 6400 good. For (professional) photography I think perfect... for me ;-)

A few of my 2018 winners would be :
"Signpost Award" : Insta 360 One X, not for its actual 360 necessarily but for pointing the way to how much that omni-capture can bring to the table in terms of stabilisation and re-framing for regular flat content. I picked one up just before Christmas and whilst its not my first rodeo when it comes to 360 cameras, its the first one that has really delivered on the shoot now frame later concept. Don't get me wrong, it is full of flaws but it is very close to being there for being the first choice leisure/travel/vlogging camera for a lot of people. It doesn't take much imagination to consider the possibilities for other type of film making as well if manufacturers like Pansonic, Fuji, Sony etc were so inclined.
"Hannibal Lecter Award" : Fuji for cannibalising sales of its video centric X-H1 by having better video specs on the X-T3.
"Bob Marley Award" : Jointly won by Sony for making everyone Wait In Vain for the A7Siii and Blackmagic for the Pocket 4K batteries Jamming.
"Horticultural Award" : The Blackmagic Pocket 4K for sprouting more plants than the Chelsea Flower Show in this forum in September.
