zerocool22 reacted to Emanuel in Tilta BMPCC 4K cage pricing is amazing
The best interface I've ever shot with. I firmly recommend to any of you. It is virtually impossible to ignore this capture device.
Several other cameras will offer you IBIS, AF and so on but no other tool matches it so far.
My fav (PRO) toy : D these days! : -)

zerocool22 reacted to BTM_Pix in Filming at the olympics
I've shot the Winter Olympics as a freelancer so it isn't out of the question as long as you can meet the usual requirements of membership of a recognised professional sports journalism organisation such as AIPS and have a body of recently published work.
The accreditation is via each country's Olympic comittee rather than centrally so you have to apply to the one in your country.
As a freelancer you will almost certainly be required to produce a letter of assignment from a publication/broadcaster but this will vary depending on your individual country as will the number of slots available for each specific role (writer/radio/photo etc).
There will also be some rights restriction aspects as well that will strictly define how you can use your content so you will need to make sure that you have that clarified precisely.
I suspect that the more immediate hurdle for you might be the deadline to apply though as it may, as it has with the British association, already have passed.

We often hire a freelancer that always gets into the Olympics, I can ask him the next time he drops by.
He is just a one man band, no employees or anything so its comparable.

I would expose to the flashlight(I rather shoot at iso 400 then iso1600). Then light the room to fill darkness. Crush the blacks on post. Use haze instead of smoke.

And all shot on tripod, no sliders, gimbals, timelapses, drones. Haa refreshing. Good composition is still the best thing you can do.

What I don't understand is how they made that without AF and a flappy screen.

I wonder if you could also attach the nucleus-N on a smallrig cage. As I am probably going for a smallrig cage instead of the tilta one(because I own smallrig stuff that is already compatible, like top handle and so on).

zerocool22 reacted to Andrew Reid in Color science
Yes but the conclusion of the video I have a problem with. It's simply wrong. Sony's colour science is according to the video far better and a crowd pleaser, vs the competition like Canon, Nikon and Fuji. I know from my own eyes this is simply bollocks.
Yes changing WB makes people change their mind on what is the best image, no shit! This is just filmmaking basics. Speaking not of white balance settings on the camera for a moment but looking at it creatively, Game of Thrones has a cool palette, other shows have a warm grade, and so on... It is supposed to match the scene and the content. In cases where a warmer look is necessary like in natural light to maintain the ambience of incandescent light, the Sony fell flat. You have no idea how many months I spent correcting this with custom WB presets in EOSHD Pro Colour and special colour settings to overcome Sony's sterile white balance handling and poor handling of ambience.
Yes movies have strong colour grading, who'd have thought?! That's all part of the creative process. We are not talking about lab technicians. They are professional colourists.
All this matters a lot.
So the debate on colour science is not overrated.
I don't agree with Tony's conclusion - either the outcome of the vote, or the underlying "colour science doesn't matter, and it's easy to change with a click of a button" bullshit.
No, a lot of people want straight out of the camera satisfaction and they don't have the time nor the skillset to go off and do advanced colour correction.
That's just us, who can afford the time to "correct every shot".
It's pretty glib of Tony saying, if you don't like Sony's colour "just change it" (I guess the raw stills he is referring to)
For a start it is not RAW when it comes to video. It's baked into the H.264 files.
Even if you shoot S-LOG, S-Gamut is baked in and comes out in the grade.
People have spent hours trying to get S-Gamut in post to look the way they want.
I don't think Tony has even ever graded S-LOG? So how can he suddenly be an authority on colour science?
You guys need to get off YOUTUBE. Put the tablets away.

zerocool22 reacted to Mattias Burling in Color science
I find that to be incorrect. Even when adjusting raw, the original color science is in effect and dictates how and how much adjustments are needed. Otherwise for example all LUTs would work the same on all footage. But they don't. Anyone with two different raw capable cameras can easily try for themselves. Take a side by side. Adjust one and copy the settings to the other. It won't look the same.
And that is the key. Sure I can fiddle with images but sometimes there are a lot of them. In a project I was leading recently we where a couple of photographers that took roughly 15 000 photos. And I edited out maybe 5000 keepers that are going to be used in various marketing material. I was pretty happy that it was only one photographer that used a different brand and the rest of us all had the same color science.
If I ever for some reason would start to work full time as a photographer or filmmaker again. Spending a huge amount of time processing pictures. Then I would definitely want to minimize the time spent in post.

zerocool22 got a reaction from mojo43 in $1K vs $10K vs $100K videos
Well 100K is a huge budget for something like this. But the difference between the 1K and 100K is huge though ? Maybe youre not a tough critic, but maybe suffering a bit from blindness though. Just joking I don't like one the commercials, but this was a real smart marketing idea

Why don't you go for a PC. Much cheaper for same or better performance, more software/plugins/addins available. You can repair it yourself when hardware breaks down.

yeah I said Im not sure what benefits there are, thx for listing them though. Not for mocking me...
From this list i'm not sure the color science is better then the pocket 4K though. I always like the fuji colours while shooting stills, but I have not seen any great fuji video's yet.

It’s the same color science in videos as in stills. It’s our job to create those great videos.
My bad... Not mocking... being English sarcasm runs deep with me. Peace!

Deleting files 'in-camera' has always been a dangerous practice and can lead to corrupted cards and data which is probably the reason they don't have this feature - or they are simply fascists!

When the scene lighting contrast is greater than the DR of the camera clipping is inevitable - on any camera.

I got confirmation from Kamera Express yesterday that they received a shipment and have sent it out to people who had preorders. I'm number 10 on their list, but didn't get one, so I guess they didn't get many and assume (really hope) I'll be in the next batch.
Meanwhile, a few other places I've contacted expect to sell to people without pre-orders in 4 months. - but that seemed like a total guess.

Cameranu has a 3-4 month expected waiting time for non-preordered cameras. Kamera Express has delivered like three cameras, so far.
