Here's a gift from and to EOSHD.  It's been a journey these past 10 years.  Me and mine have bopped in and out of here over the years.
We would like to share our old-fashioned American Christmas film.  It takes place on Christmas Eve, so I guess today's an appropriate time to share it!  This film wouldn't have been made without EOSHD and everyone's wisdom helping us grow technically, especially with advice regarding M43 cams.
If you like classic Hollywood movies, let us know what you think about our attempt at making a 1930's style film.
    Happy Christmas!

Merry Christmas to the whole EOSHD Forum crew!
i shot this little christmas film on the blackmagic pocket 6K pro with the Sigma 16-35 and the laowa probe. As it borrowed all the Lego models, the camera (thanks to Impossiple Filmproduction in Hamburg) the probe it was a whole lot of production time. Also it took quite long to set the whole thing up. Of course i wanted to tell little stories with the lego figures, but time became tooooo tight and it took me several attempts to find a lighting situation that would work. Of course the scene would have also been much greater if i had more of the practical lamps.I looked for small lights around the house and now there is a variety of lamps inside the houses.  You can fiddle around with the lighting for ages! i definitelely had the feeling i had to stop when i was just getting started. This might also be a fun thing to just shoot on an iphone.. Hopefully next year...
And of  course i would be happy if you would show the film to your children, share it and like and comment and follow my channel on youtube...

And to show the improvement i am also putting in the first LIL chilltrain Christmas movie from two years ago.

The stuff that bothers me about current online content, I could write a 10,000 page book about it...
Camera tests (the ones that grab the most views that is) have become completely meaningless. They're just about undisclosed variables. Everything looks more or less the same and if there's a difference then you can be 99% sure it's due to a random undisclosed variable like somebody grading two LOG formats a bit differently, trying to match but not quite. Tells me nothing about the camera. Any subtly even big differences in texture between uncompressed Cinema DNG and silky smooth H265 just gets completely obliterated on YouTube and most people probably even watching it on a phone!
It is like evaluating MP3 vs FLAC through a $10 bluetooth speaker. Completely pointless.
The format is all so similar now as well. American YouTube clickweasels who chuck a cheap bit of eye candy in front of the lens and think the results are the definitive verdict on image quality!
Manny has a model walking stiffly up to the lens and that is supposed to be definitive verdict on an AF system. Toneh has a pool table in Rec.709 colour profiles and that is supposed to say everything about high ISO performance. Not that simple now there is dual native gain circuits is it?
This is where Gerald at least goes further than skin-deep, but it always ends up being a box specs reading or box ticking exercise that doesn't merge the technical data he collects with the creative appropriation of it through the eye of an artist or story-teller.

So what REALLY looks best out of the Z9 and A1?
All I get out of these videos is... slight colour differences? From different colour profiles? And different grades? Don't even mention what codec and modes they're comparing.
    Pointless shit.
If you fall for this shit, you're enabling those high viewing figures. Wonder if what you're doing is just consumerism, entertainment. Nothing wrong with that. Just don't pretend anything otherwise or pretend it says anything useful about the current differences in camera technology and performance.
We need a standard benchmark look for cinema as well to judge the mirrorless cameras by too. Perhaps in a useful camera test there should be an appreciation of the grain and texture of film, the imperfections of it, because everything looking technically perfect and clean is not really doing it for me.

Cmon. Go to the Vimeo site and download the original - it is 8K. The same 8K video was uploaded to YouTube. I have no control over what YouTube streams.
I do not like being called a liar, particularly when  I went out of my way to post on Vimeo so folks could download the un-recompressed 8K original.

Thomas Hill reacted to Django in Fuji X-H2S
It seems quite a few of us were on Fuji for some time and then moved on. They are back to being that really niche company nobody is really hyped about. and that's kind of good in my book, I'd go as far as to say that even appeals to me. I hate having the same gear as everyone and Fuji has its own kind of visual imprint. The hardware too with the top dials & compact lenses. It's kind of like Leica, without the prestige & price tag.
I'm not about to ditch Canon or Sony by the way. Too invested in them, and they do the job, I can operate them with my eyes shut. But that's also the problem, they're utilitarian, boring. Fuji is a breath of fresh air, even the idiosyncrasies make you work a little different. Long story short, I have humongous GAS for this XH2S. It really ticks the boxes as far as feature ratio/price. Adding a fourth system is a little nuts but my projects are really diversified and this would be my creative/experimental system for more artsy/fine art projects.

Thomas Hill reacted to Andrew Reid in Micro Four Thirds mount lenses on Fuji cameras
I remember @Emanuel raising the possibility of using Micro Four Thirds glass on Fuji cameras.
Well I asked RAF Camera to make a prototype for EOSHD and here it is.

So in past year I have been experimenting with a lot of M43 glass on the Super 35mm sensor of the Fuji X series cameras.
We see beyond the usual 2x crop image circle!
    Here's what I found:
    - X-T4 has a Micro Four Thirds 2x crop mode in the menus. So you can use anything on that, basically.
    - The adapter doesn't have any electronics capabilities (maybe later?) so I have only been trying manual focus lenses
    - Voigtlander super fast F0.95 primes look lovely on a Fuji!
    - Some M43 lenses even cover the entire Super 35mm sensor
    - X-H1 is 1.7x crop in 4K so that works well, as it is closer to the 1.86x crop of the GH2 or multi-aspect sensor Panasonic bodies
    - The affordable Meike cinema lenses work brilliantly as these are all Super 35mm lenses just different mounts (they come in Fuji X-mount versions and Micro Four Thirds, with same optics for both)
    - SLR Magic stuff very tasty with it especially on the X-T4 in 2x crop mode
    - Focus to infinity is fine (sometimes slightly over even)
So I am wondering, how much interest would there be in an EOSHD branded adapter for Fuji X cameras, that enables you to use Micro Four Thirds glass?
This is the only adapter in the world of this type.
I have been wondering how many of you have both Micro Four Thirds mount glass and Fuji cameras, maybe you switched but didn't sell all your GH5 lenses? Maybe you are just curious to turn your X-T4 into a GH6? Or interested to discover the unique images made from one of your exotic Micro Four Thirds mount lens on an X-H2S?
Also rather than buy separate lenses for Fuji and Panasonic you can use one set on both systems (as in Meike 25mm T2.2 for instance!)
If there is enough interest in the adapter I'll put RAF on notice and finally start that Indiegogo up!

I would say DO IT!  First publish your OM1 comparison tonight if that was your original plan, as I’m dying to see it. Picture I took with my new OnePlus 9 Pro in the Night Mode. It was not a timelapse just a snapshot. Pretty amazing, bordering on Sony A7s stuff. There was a full moon out, so I am sure that helped a lot but there is no light in the front yard, streetlight across the street. You can see from the stars how fast it was shot.

Thomas Hill reacted to kye in Sigma FP
I can't blame you for wanting to downsize from a Z6 with Ninja Star, but I question if the FP will do what you hope it will.
Firstly, the FP has limitations on what resolutions/frame-rates it can record internally, with an external SSD required for the rest (violating your size / rigging criteria).  Secondly, the FP screen doesn't articulate so depending on how you shoot you might require an external monitor.  There is an EVF but it's an add-on.
Also, there are very few lenses in the L-mount system that have OIS, and the FP has no IBIS, which means that if you go down the route of not having either then you would most likely require a larger rig to get steady enough shots.
The FP is a bit of a specialist tool in this sense - the image is spectacular and codecs potentially glorious but it's not an all-in-one shooter that will fit around you and your needs like many other cameras are.  It's a bit of a diva.

Panasonic announcing that they are now officially exiting the sub GH6 market completely is the official end of that era.
Their rationale is that anyone wanting to take high quality photos and videos will now buy a €1200 smartphone.
I'd sooner have a €1000 camera and a €200 phone but I'm not the market so I can see their point.
They caused this themselves by still even now having terrible integration with phones when the writing has been on the wall for years about how people would make and share imagery.

I'd imagine it's slightly worse considering the the sensor is likely older and definitely smaller but is still crippled with the same codec and bitrate.
Each time they upgrade I've seen comparisons (not with this model yet though) that compares the new and previous ones, and they're always a little bit better but ultimately still disappointing.  Lok Cheung normally does a comparison and seems to own all the models in the range, but he hasn't released a review on this model yet, which is unfortunate.
