  1. Very interesting. My thoughts.

    1. Boy am I glad I sold my second BMPCC4K before this was announced.

    2. I don't care one bit about 6K.

    3. But I care a lot about the bigger sensor and EF mount. Getting a good combo of lenses and/or adapters on the BMPCC4K that didn't vingette and didn't have massive barrel distortion was a PITA. I'm already kitted for EF. The Tamron 17-50/2.8 VC will probably live on it.

Man, I just want to make movies, but now I gotta do all this other stuff?  Yikes.

Few professions doesn't come with a pile of boring extra work :)

For me it's the idea, planning, producing and marketing that's the fun part. The actual shooting is just a necessary evil.

Orange/Teal is not what we see everyday but it does fill in the gaps with how cameras record color.

I see it every single evening and morning, all year, but more pronounced in the winter.

  4. It was merely a comment on the way to common notion that a colored shadow isn't "real" or is in fact "wrong". When in fact, a grey or black shadow is more incorrect than a colored one. Orange/teal isn't an unnatural grade made up by computers, its how the world actually looks in certain hours of the day.

    Strange opinions here,

Im sorry if our discussion made it sound as if we where putting down the work you do. That was never my (and I suspect anyone else) intention.
It was merely a side discussion about how I have huge respect for you guys shooting weddings but that Im at the same time very glad I don't have/need to make them. Because they are simply not my cup of tea to watch and/or make.

I mean, do you have a promo code set up with Flying Fur that they can give their donors/followers that if they rent/buy your film, a part of the proceeds will go back to Flying Fur?

Also very solid idea. That or to some international animal help organization.

  7. From what I saw your posts are a lot about film festivals and popcorn. Something your target audience care very little about.

They care about one thing only, dogs being rescued.

I would start targeting dog owners, dog related groups and communities. On Instagram you can use up to 30 hashtags per post, use at least 10, if not 30. #dogsofinstagram #dogrescue etc. When you search hashtags on Instagram you see how popular they are, try different combinations and pick the once with +50k or something.

There are a million forums, FB groups and so on about dog, cat and other rescuing. Join them all.

As a dog owner I've seen a lot of dog and animal rescue channels on YouTube. I would approach the bigger once and try to cut a deal for a sponsored video. Maybe even a discount code with some kickback for the channel.

As anyone with a some what successful YouTube will tell you, the big numbers comes from other platforms such as blogs, etc. And still best of all, "unsocial media". Get on the news or in a paper and things start to happen quickly.

I used to work in marketing for the worlds second largest chain of animal hospitals and veterinary clinics and believe me, your TA is fanatic. Every time we got a rescue dog or cat that survived some type of ordeal it was a piece of cake planting the story in papers etc.

F me. I don’t even know what a relevant hashtag would be. You mean, like the title of the film? Something like #flyingfurfilm

Until your movie hits big that hashtag is just a waste of the # key ;)

But seriously, use that hashtag on all posts and then 29 to reach your TA.

Karma finally caught up to Canon's greed over the years.

Yeah unlike PanaSony, Fuji, Nikon etc which are all philanthropy driven NGOs who never cripple the gear they release.. ;)

PS. I wonder how many business and economic analyzers who take karma into consideration. I know politicians, included but not limited to the US president, sometimes name drop spagetti monsters and other ghost type creatures when justifying a decision. But I suspect its not as common among science and data driven people.

well with iphone sales slowing, and slow adoption of the more expensive brand items and a global recession/depression on the horizon, especially with the us/china trade war, brexit, and the collapse of the environment, and Moore's law, Leica sales may also be tapering off a bit, especially if rich little johnny finds his current leica is just fine and doesn't need to upgrade, especially when the end product is instagram.

So far I haven't found any reports confirming your theory. In fact the opposite. Leica wasn't even hit very hard during the 2008 crisis.

And none of the Leica shooters I know is "rich" in the sense I suspect you where going for.

Unfortunately, Nikon dragged their feet too long. They had a chance to beat everybody by 6 + months on raw over HDMI. They had a window to be the first any only camera doing it.

So did Panasonic, Sony, Olympus, Fuji and Canon. An Atomos rep told me years ago when demonstrating the Shogun that they could do Raw to prores and later raw to raw over HDMI. He told me all the camera manufacturers where informed and they just needed to say "go".

So I naturally assumed the A7sii, which wasn't announced at the time, would be first. But no, they all decided to drag their feet for a couple of years first.

    Thank god for black magic.

From what i have read it always said it is a Apple thingy. Smashing! Thanks!

To create and export it yes, but not to work with it. Atomos and the others aren't putting Prores in their machines just for Apple users.
So on a PC (at least the once I've used) I just import and edit Prores like I would on a Mac. When its time to export I use DNxHD or similar that a PC can create.
Unless the project is fine with h.264.

PS. To install Prores on to a PC I remember installing and uninstalling Quicktime Player. Might not be needed today. EDIT: wasn't needed when testing it just now.

EDIT: Just tested a clip from a BMPCC4K on my Office PC at work. A real piece of HP-junk only used for Words and Excell with Premiere installed just in case. It imported instantly and flowed smoothly.

The z6 isn’t a bad camera but with the s1 being similarly priced to the z6+ninja v and the bmpcc4k being significantly cheaper, lots of people bought the camera probably because of the raw announcement. I feel bad for all of you who did so. Honestly they may never announce it.

It depends on preferred workflow etc. Personally, at this point I would still choose the Z6+Ninja over the s1 because its Prores and it has lenses.

hey mattias did you do a blog or video comparison on the metabones and viltrox ?

Not as such, but Ive compared it to the BMPCC version in my review of the Viltrox and both was in my latest camera blind test.
