Every cine camera company writes it's own code. This isn't a new thing.  You bought into it and pay for it.

In what way does that have anything to do with my post?

EDIT: on second thought, don't answer. You probably didn't even read my post and most likely won't read your own.

This, I think, is the truth to the disruption of the industry. High prices usually mean high quality but that gap is narrowing quite quickly.

For me workflow is the most important thing. Quality wise I'm all set with most recent cameras. But RED is so far the only camera I've used with a Raw codec that was editable in FCPX. And it had a good quality to size ratio as well as flowing like butter in 4.5K raw on an ooold computer.

So if this new thing is their first truly affordable camera. Or it pushes for example a used Scarlett down to my level.. then I'm in.

I’m surprised anybody would still buy RED after they’ve been exposed for basically fraud with misleading and outright lies from the CEO about it.

In my mind it is because of RedCode. I would forgive any lies, look the other way from the mark-ups and I can even live with the stupid geeky names they use. All of it. For affordable RedCode in a body smaller than the R1MX I had.

  3. It must be close to 10 years since it became common knowledge that the CF-module for the RED One MX and the CF-reader was the same thing and consisted of a simple best buy CF-reader in a cool package.

And the RED CF-cards where just rebranded from some regular manufacturer.

So Ive just assumed that they have kept going with that sort of things. Until another maker can give me something as nice as Red-code I would forgive them n an instance and jump all over an affordable RED camera. Luckily they have always managed to stay just outside what I feel comfortable spending for non work related equipment.

So now you think you're a snob and bring up global shutter?

Ok I'm calling troll now. No way you are this bad at reading even you own posts..

Any comments on the hot topic of P4K vs P6K?

Pros - Cons? Are you missing something from your P4K when using the P6K, or the opposite?

Just be careful, seems to be a very sensitive subject and one must choose the words very carefully. Even when saying that the camera is good :)

This footage shows the P6K is more cinematic then the P4K.

So I truly don't get the flat our trying to dog the P6K with the "videoish" comment you made.

You are just making this up. Read the posts again. I have said more than once that I'm convinced that the P6K can capture cinematic footage.

    Here's a NEWS flash: ...

I've got one for you to. Google "global shutter" and thank me later.

  6. 53 minutes ago, Skip77 said:

There is lots of footage from the P6K.  How is this the first footage you've seen?

By being the only one Ive watched.. thought that went without saying.

    53 minutes ago, Skip77 said:

Nothing looks videoish to me.   Not the cadence movement or the detail or the color ( anyone can grade anything from one end to the other).

Great, then you should buy it.

    53 minutes ago, Skip77 said:

    What looks videoish?

The motion, the clarity, the colors and the tones/curves.

    53 minutes ago, Skip77 said:

My machine plays that footage back flawlessly and no stutter..

    So does mine.

    53 minutes ago, Skip77 said:

    ..or videoish qualities.

    Looks video to me.

    53 minutes ago, Skip77 said:

    The 50fps is like silk.

Exactly, very smartphoneish. Not a fan.

    Please note:

I have NEVER said that the P6K shoots footage that looks videoish and can't produce cinematic footage. All Im saying is that after reading your post about "proof" that the P6K is "more cinematic than the P4K" I was very disappointed after pressing play on that video.
But like I said there are most likely much better examples of cinematic footage out there.

@Mattias Burling many people say they will skip the wedding video, but end up getting one anyway (bride's request) because it is a great way to capture some of the highlights of the day. Many people want to remember that day...

My GF finds them cheesy so it wouldn't be for us :)

But let's say she really really did want one, I probably would consider it just so I could remind her of it the next time I bought an expensive camera ;)

Doc's can get buy based on Netflix specs.  Story is king and trumps 4K in that case.

It still seems like you haven't fully understood. The Netflix 4K requirement is for productions made by Netflix. I can use whatever I want and if it's good enough they will accept.

To this day almost half of all the movies at the Oscars etc are shot on film or HD. And they all go on Netflix.

Netflix even still pick up TV shows shot on s16.

This has been talked about to death on this forum in the past. So let's get back to the real subject.

I always thought that the XC10 had potential as a sort of cine/documentary camera, but Canon had the opposite idea and marketed it to photojournalists and videographers who need to deliver short clips of content to the web.

I considered getting a used XC10, but before I did, I downloaded a copy of Canon's XF Utility and then downloaded native .MXF samples from the web. Couldn't figure out how to make the XF Utility to work to import the footage, so I had to transcode the .MXF so I could determine whether my computer was powerful enough to handle the higher bit rates.

Needless to say, I was not impressed. If the XC10 is aimed at photojournalists/web videographers, then footage should be a lot easier to ingest into your editing programme. And so I didn't buy an XC10.

Never transcoded or used any Canon software. I just imported and edited. And since it's low compression my old computer had no issues playing it smoothly.

A huge portion of the world is living on fake news. They would believe anything and anyone, regardless of the startling evidence to the contrary. They've become zombies, and you probably couldn't change their mind, if you tried.

Sadly that is true. Mr Trump and the easily offended right wingers spread so much fake news that the truth gets lost. Total zombies indeed.

People reported fake information about the BMD 6K not having footage that was released to the public.  And as this was posted other people jump on and post replies and speculate as to the reason why.  This is what causes doubt and mistrust towards new camera releases and companies. It is was false.  It might seem like a big deal and just a mistake but it wasn't.

Yup, when cameras lol BMD, Ricoh and Sigma are released fake news spread quickly on forums. We have seen it many times here in the past.

  11. Marketing and movie making have one major thing in common which is why I enjoy it so much.

    It's all about human emotions.

At the end of the day it's the only thing that's truly important. Budget, advertising space, cameras, actors, etc.. it's all just small cogs in a machine with one simple purpose. Affect human emotions in order to change a behavior or opinion.

That's the reason for my fascination and why I early on jumped from crew to the production office and later Psyops, PR and marketing.

  12. 12 minutes ago, MurtlandPhoto said:

Agreed. I think they just chose the "Pocket" name for marketing purposes. The BMPCC sold the most units by far and really helped adopt people over to Resolve, which is their whole plan anyways.

    Yup.

Even the included Resolve is a BMCC thing from the beginning.
And just like the BMCC and BMPC4K had the same body but MFT and EF mount we now get the BMPCC4K and BMPCC6K with the same differentiators.

Other than that there is of course the similar the design, touch, dual rec buttons and so on.

  13. 56 minutes ago, Otago said:

I am surprised that they didn't go with a more universal mount, like the RF possibly ?

The original BMCC with an EF mount was announced at the same time as the patent for the EF mount expired.
We will have to wait a few years before the same happens with the RF or Sony E mount.
m4/3 has been open from the start.

    Triggered much? See my point?

I guess the difference is that even though no man is free from sinn, the orange dude is a confessed aspring rapist, a criminal and a diagnosed compulsive liar. Which, good or bad policies aside, makes him pretty unfit for the job and there for a more legitimate target.

A moderator should really sweep by this thread and remove all of the off-topic politics shit. I'm here to escape from the bullshit and talk cameras.

Downloading it now, I'm eager to check these files!

Agreed, even though Im part of the problem. Its just one of those days :)

    On topic,
The new sensor size and mount is a god send. The BMPCC4K should have had a smaller sensor or EF mount to make it less of a PITA.
To bad about the 6K though, since its totally unnecessary imo and the price of it is too rich for my personal usage of it. If it would have had 250fps in HD I would have preordered it instantly.

They were all different, even money wise, now they are all  sort of alike.

Sure.. Same thing in the states. Manhattan and New Orleans is exactly the same. People look the same, eat the exakt same food, listen to the exact same music, its the exact same climate, exactly the same dialect.. oh wait..
