While Netflix is technically TV, Canon was all over the Oscars documentary category last year:

And in this years 2020 nominees, one of the most talked about docu, American Factory (first film out of Obama's production company) was shot on... a 2014 C100 mk2:

..ironically it was picked up by Netflix at Sundance (and is currently streaming on the platform).
So while many seem to obsess over "Netflix approved" cameras, this seems to prove that shooting great content will always trump camera specs.

I had the BMPCC4K. Sold it. Just wasn't worth the hassle over what I could get done with a Panasonic tbh.

10 years ago, all the documentary films I made for TV, I shot them with a shoulder camera. The image was sharp and the bokeh invisible. At the same time, I discovered the Canon 5DmII, and I started (me and my colleagues French journalists) my first films with a cine image. Obviously it was a revolution! French TV and production companies immediately adopted Canon despite many new constraints related to DSLR. So what? The tool was incredible and the images broadcast magnificent! None of us saw fit to return to the previous tools, which were much more practical to use! Over time, we groaned against Canon, like all of you because it seemed to us that the company never listened to our remarks to improve its cameras. So, rebels, we adopted Panasonic, Sony or Fuji recently. Alas, in the end, the image was always less beautiful, the colors less real, and the editors pointed out to us that only the final result with the diffusion counted. TV editors have also lamented the Pana and Sony colors. We are in January 2020, I can certify that 95% of DSLR filming for French TV is done with the Canon 5Dm4. It is not snobbery, it is just the result of a collective reflection (Red Chef, JRI, Op Chef, Director, editor ...) which unanimously goes in the direction of Canon images. I also 100% agree with this reflection. However, I used GH2, GH3, GH4, Sony A7SII, Fuji XT3 ...
See today that Canon is putting RAW internally in a DSLR! 4K 10 bit 422 in 60P, etc etc with Canon color science is just MAGNIFICENT. Yes there are still reasons to shoot Canon on sight for quite a few reasons, yes it is still imperfect ... but 95% of French TV and Productions will be delighted to use this 1DXMIII.

In the industry, I'd agree that legacy attitudes and craft work will remain.  People that are considerate of what they're doing tend to make more artistic decisions. 
However, The YouTubers and social media influencers will be leading a certain aesthetic moving forward, I think.  Hard to run from that avalanche.  We'll get used to (have gotten used to?) 60p and vertical video, for example. 

I would have to disagree. “The kids” are the ones shooting tons of actual film right now. Largely driven by millennials it seems.
There is so much 16mm and 35mm being shot right now, I would imagine 10 times more than what was being shot 5 years ago. Nothing beats the real deal if you can afford it.

The original file is from S1 in 4k 10 bit Vlog.
It was shot in F4, and i was near on the greenscreen ( not much space in my office ?). So thats can be the problem with the green kickback in my face...
No, i shoot only shoulder hight( the clip is not reframed)

Thanks man. This was the Rokinon 8mm I think? It's been a while since i've used that setup. It worked really well at the time though.

As far as my research took me, there were several companys who made this lens, and one of them claimed a lens a 8mm because they wanted to sale a "new model"..

:46 is with that setup. I believe this was 1080p / 60p mode. 4k might crop a little more? You mean the 8mm 3.5mm, correct? No vignetting.
The black Magic pocket looks better but there was no fisheye option at the time. 
 

Don't do it, unless it's an experiment. Just stick with the approved media unless you want headaches.
IF you do do the experiment, let us know what happens (dropped frames etc).

I am not American, and I think Trump says the strangest things. But, he is arguably the most successful US president of all time. I may not be a Trump fan, but I prefer him over both the Clintons, Obama and many others. Obama getting the Nobel for farting in his dreams was way more shady than anything else. EVER. 
The US has been heading for a financial collapse for the last few years (since the Dollar Store and Wallmark rise). Now China is literally taking away millions of US jobs and Fortune 500 is inundated with Chinese Companies. Apple would have been relegated to 4th or 5th position in smartphone sales, if the US wasnt doing all the shady stuff it is (to be fair, US Trade and IP Laws have been anything but fair since they were created). Also TikTok and other chinese tech startups are going to be displacing Twitter and Facebook (even though it doesn't do similar things to either) very soon. That's why Google is planning a TikTok ban soon (if it hadn't already). 
Europe and the US are heading for both economic and cultural collapse. The only question, I guess, is how quickly.

Not bad at all? Phone do 4K60p for years. 2.7K is unacceptable. And no RAW picture. Only JPG. Clearly they do cripple their models like everybody now. Such a let down. Raw and 4K30P and it was an instand buy for me, even for $100 more. 
And no flat profile. F*** DJI. 

According to newsshooter it does RAW lite internally. This camera, along with the c500 mark ii seems to mark a new era for Canon.  Alexa-like dynamic range and skintones.  Full frame.  Compact.  I have a lot of optimism for Canon.

If you want pro photo and pro video in one body, this is it. No other camera gives you that, hence the price. As good as the s1h is, I don't want to be fiddling around with external recorders just to get raw. With the weather sealing etc, the places you can take this camera where you can't take others makes it all the more appealing and unique. The price is warranted. This thing is a BEAST.
