SMDH...  Well, I just read the part that I copy/pasted from the doc and it clearly does say that those Creative Look settings are for BOTH stills and movies:
A selection of new Creative Looks makes it easy to create interesting moods for stills and movies right in the camera. 10 Creative Looks are provided as presets that can be used without modification or customized by the user, based on the currently selected camera mode.
So most likely, this is where Brandon set the highlights to -9 and the shadows to +9 and it was in the standard creative style.  In my a9 I only see Contrast, Saturation, and Sharpness in my standard creative style (would guess the same for the a7III), so the highlights and shadows setting must be some new options only in the A7SII.

The panasonis S1 has the exact same video image, the same full Vlog in the exact same 4k 10 bit 422 codec.
The s1 has better Ibis, better battery life, better weather sealing, full size hdmi, better evf and unlimited recording in 4k 10bit 422.
You can buy it used (like new condition) for $1600 US pretty often. These usually include vlog.
It's a little bit bigger than the s5, but for a solid filmmaking machine, a used s1 is probably the better option for an affordable cinema camera.
There are firmware updates confirmed for the future too. So the s1's value as a filmmaking tool will increase.
The s5 is an incredible camera though, it's insane we're at a point where cameras this good are releasing at these prices

They already leapfrogged it with the GFX line. Would rather they bring out a cheap GFX model.

So just hope for a GFX with a FF crop video mode as an option 🙂

Absolutely fantastic to see the 1080p 10-bit 4:2:2 is at a very high bitrate!

So the official lists have been finalized on the production model that will start being sent to PRO Support in a week and other pre-release places.  Mostly for reference if you need it, but I found the movie recording option one to be well laid out with everything I needed in one chart.
Getting excited to get mine.  Fingers crossed, but I had my paid invoice literally in the first 10 seconds on pre-order and was the first to fill out the "prioritized shipping consideration" from Sony PRO Support.  It has been a long wait for this camera release, hope it proves to be worth it.

FULL Specifications (which is currently missing from Sony's page for the A7SIII):

GREAT Single place for all movie recording options, depth, framerate, codec, bitrate, memory card req.:

Breakdown all of the controls, dials, covers, holes, jacks, etc:

At $2000 I would much rather buy a used S1 with it's better battery, EVF, and handling. The only thing it lacks is the 10-bit 60p.

Edit: And unlimited record time and a full size HDMI instead of micro.

I think so. They had to have a gyro instead of IBIS data for the FX9 because they couldn't have the IBIS mechanism and the electronic ND both fit in the mount. I'm actually really impressed with the Gyro data stabilization, and look forward to that being usable in other applications.

Their "advanced" mode on the A7sIII seems great and I'm glad they have the gyro data.

From Gerald Undone's tests it seems that the IBIS is not as good as the Panasonic S1, so that is another strike against it for me.

I'm in the same boat, I'm going to rent it first but I'm really leaning towards long term going full Sony. I love my Nikon's but it has so many minor annoyances and they are never going to have a video camera to move up to or use alongside them. Sony has the lenses and the AF performance for photo and video. If the R5/R6 had knocked it out of the park I would have considered it but not anymore.

@Geoff CB are we going to need a bigger boat? 😀
I’ve said it before but it’s always worth repeating and that is I have no brand loyalty as such but instead more of a commitment as it were to companies that produce what I need and keep on doing so.
Fuji for 7-8 years have earned my commitment and my least favoured brand has been Sony...but there comes a point when it’s hard to argue against capability as a total package.

It's more the fact his tests are the usual smoothly run/walk towards/away from camera and not real tests. Gerald Undone did one and it looks as bad as ever unfortunately:

Well I have only watched Gordon Laing’s two reviews and my verdict is it’s good...but probably not the camera for me.
I need an equally great hybrid, ie, have an equal requirement for stills and video.
Price is good. New lenses coming are good. Size etc, all good.
AF though still seems not quite there for video and just OK/reasonably decent for stills.
Small EVF is not great for me.
Not a full swivel screen fan either but that is not a dealbreaker.
Conclusion for me is that a 2021 pairing of Sony A7S3 for video and A74 for stills is probably my best bet, especially as I am looking for a minimum 3 year investment. If not longer.
So waiting to see what Nikon’s Z6S will be and Fuji’s XH2 and both I expect will be closer to my needs over the new Panasonic.
Like it, but think I’d get frustrated with it’s limitations quite quickly considering the imminent opposition.
Canon can go do one on sheer point of principle now.

So 60p is a 1.5 crop after all.  Not good.  30 min clip limit.  Not good.  Micro HDMI.  Not good.  Lower resolution screen and EVF not good.
Small size is nice for me, 10 bit 60p is a step up and AF whilst not on Canon or Sony level showing improvements.  Vlog is included.  Well done Panasonic.  Time to stop charging extra for it.  Some great specs in a small size.  Future Fireware update adds DCI 4K.. thats good.  But why wait...
Hard to know what I think of this camera.  Like the other fullframe mirrorless, it has some great features mixed with some notable misses.
Not sure whether its worth the upgrade to fullframe or not.  I may hold off for now and see if a GH6 is announced by March next year.

Medium format & cheap don't really associate.. that said the GFX 50R is now only $3500 which places it around FF cams like A7R4/A7S3/R5.
Unfortunately the video specs are crap..

Nikon's 1.8 lenses are no compromise glass. Really hope Panasonic is wise and makes these cheap and with a FEW compromises. The system really needs low cost lens options.

Yep. In fact they would probably be mad to.
It’s not just a new body but an entire range of new lenses to meet everyone’s needs and it’s difficult to do that already even with a couple of half dozen in the APSC line up.
So nope, at least in my humble opinion, Fuji should stick to dominating either side of the FF market.
Oh and apparently there is some new camera announcement soon but it’s not the XH2 or any ‘next’ model but something new.
    We shall see...

Man I hope those 1.8 are $499 or less, $1000 is definitely on the high side.
