tweak reacted to stv in DJI Mavic Air 2S coming soon with 1inch sensor
I'm just hoping these 1 inch sensors eventually make their way into DJI's pocket and action cameras.

tweak got a reaction from AndreasK in Some Galileo action going on
Tinkering with lenses and hacking together stuff is what makes anamorphic fun to me, I think some people totally miss the point of why many of us do it.

tweak got a reaction from TomTheDP in My thoughts on the Kipon Medium Format "Speedbooster"
I think what people fail to realise here is that for most people using MF lenses (or any vintage lens) I'm sure has nothing to do with whether you can get other "equivalent" lenses to match or do an "equivalent" job... it's all about the things that aren't supposed to be there, the "mistakes" if you will that make the image interesting. It's like playing music, jazz as an example, the notes you don't play and the unexpected notes you do play make what you are doing interesting to some people. If you just played a super predictable structured melody I don't know many musicians personally who would be overly impressed...
That being said not everyone may enjoy what you are doing (they never will in life) but if something has worth and merit to you don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
I will give you the big secret, everything you do in your day to day life is pointless, in fact life is pointless. There's no plan waiting for you at the end, no one there to pat you on the back and tell you did life right. Just do what makes you happy and help others where you can .

Unfortunately if you lived in NZ and closely followed the ridiculous slapstick comedy of events here, then you'd realize NZ's government is no exception. They're a reactive committee too, to put it charitably, and a very slowly reacting one too.
We only look so good to the rest of the world thanks more to dumb luck than anything else, and due to the amazingly good hand of cards the gods dealt us in the first place.
Because we're a low density country, which is an island by ourselves (easy natural barriers to defend ourselves with! Zero land borders with anybody else), in the middle of nowhere (sandwiched between a sea and an ocean), with only one city that is also the most remote city in the entire world!
If last year was a computer game simulation we were playing, you couldn't hope for a better starting position! It's like playing the game on easy mode. How much credit can you really give our government when they're playing the game in the easiest of easy modes??
(oh plus also, during the earliest months while everyone in the world was trying to figure out a response we were in the midst of summer, and didn't need to be in the extra hard mode of doing this in middle of winter. Yet another natural factor that was in NZ's favor)
Then on top of this, we also had one of the world's harshest lockdowns a country has had for initially for quite a long while. (good for squashing a virus? But the economic consequences of that are not trivial and can't be ignored forever) And yet, we still had to later on in the year go into a second lockdown. Fingers and toes crossed that we don't get a third!

tweak reacted to kye in GoPro Hero 9 Black Coming Soon with 5K30/4K60
So, to paraphrase...
In March, GoPro stocks were down to 3% of their 2014 peak But they've gone up from 3% to 10% of their peak The rise was unexpected In a conversation about a companies business model, where that business model hasn't really changed in the entire lifetime of the company, I would suggest that "down by 90% since 2014" is a more relevant figure than what they did in the last quarter, month, quarter-of-an-hour, etc...
It's relatively easy to select any time portion you like to prove a point. For example, in the last few days they lost over 8% of their value. At that rate I guess they'll be bankrupt by the new year.
Unless, of course, you think I'm taking the most current data out of context and I should zoom out a bit?

Historical context happens when you zoom out......

tweak reacted to EphraimP in Canon Cinema EOS C70 - Ah that explains it then!
Sound like you need to wait for the C50.
As far as the C70 being the way forward, without a EVF, what about the dslr/mirrorless style body makes it better for you than a more traditional cine-style body? Holding the camera out in front of you with two hands, even with your elbows locked, is in my experience, a less stable shooting method than cradling the camera against your body to establish a third point of contact or shoulder mounting, both of which even a cine-style camera is more suited to.

tweak got a reaction from leslie in What are the best cleanest taking lenses?
A 16mm Kowa and a HCDNA is known as a "best" combo because it's widely talked about and everyone just wants to shoot instead of wasting time experimenting. I can tell you now, that although it's a good combo, there's many other scopes out there that are as good and better for a fraction of the price. I think the same is true with taking lenses, the most talked about ones have been driven up in price, but there's tons out there that will work as good or better if you do some searching. Hey you might even find a combo that gives you a look different to that of the norm . As said earlier, what camera, sensor and look you're going for all play a huge part, there's no definitive answer to which taking lenses are "cleaner or better" without knowing the other variables.

tweak reacted to BrooklynDan in Pro camcorder ergonomics - why are they so rubbish?
Yes! This is exactly what I want. Handicam form factor with large sensor and interchangeable lenses. EVF on the back, flippy screen on the side, handstrap for comfort. Winning combo.

tweak reacted to BenEricson in Pro camcorder ergonomics - why are they so rubbish?
They're worse... Every camera in the 90s and early 2000s at least had a viewfinder and was usable for extremely long periods of time handheld.
I think the C70 a better design than the FX6. At least you can throw a loupe on the back and have two points of contact.

I shall redeem myself. A tutorial for how to summon the Squarespace gods should do the trick.

It’s easy to stretch these things out with a 5 minute Storybollocks ad.
Me myself and I are still working on how to get some stock NYC footage into one of my rural SW France weddings...

I think the lack of sponsorship by Storyblocks or at least Squarespace reveals so much.
As a result, I have liked and subscribed twice.
