You have no idea how many times I've almost bought a Jupiter-9...  I'm talking put one in my ebay cart and everything.
One of those times was yesterday!!

    Let's get this party started!
Not the best thing I've ever made, but in the spirit of quantity over quality (and of making things and publishing even if they're not perfect), here it is.
This is lens #1 - I may make more than one film with each lens.
I think I followed all the rules.... someone made so many of them!! ???

Sorry, I'll show myself out. ?

But yeah, awesome challenge. Been a huge proponent of vintage Zenits! Especially the elusive 'Red 'P'' ones with focal length in 'cm' and special coatings.

There's a good joke that 'when you see Red P, please go to the doctor!'. xD
But indeed. The Jupiter-9 is dope!

That's a wicked aperture. So is that of the TAIR-11A. Blades for days! But 135mm on a crop... good luck with that here. ?

You know, both that TAIR-11 and MIR-1 won Grand Prix awards back in the day.

Nice starry aperture formation on the Industar-61 L/Z 50mm f/2.8 Macro.

If you really want something hilarious, get the tiny Industar 50-2. A 50mm f/3.5, it's sooo cute and inexpensive.
Really always wanted the Helios 40-2... and they started making new batches again. But... 85mm (f/1.5).
Used to shop a lot at my go-to Zenit dealership if you will, a well-kept secret for many years: https://www.ebay.com/usr/artemstore , but sharing is caring, no? Always superb condition, great details and info with the listings. Like... who knew about the 16-bladed Helios 44-3? I love browsing that place and learning a thing or two every now and again. You'll also still find a bunch of NOS (New Old Stock) lenses around on eBay. If you need adapters, I'd suggest Kent&Faith:

Glad that's behind us. Speaking of gadgets and in particular tablets... I hadn't used a tablets in years anymore due to the fact they were pretty much larger smartphones... when smartphones themselves gotten bigger over the years as well. ... but that all changed when I bought the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 Pro (apparently availlable still at the Lenovo US store; significantly discounted (499.99 > $224.99). The kickstand changes the game, I'll tell you. JBL Dolby Atmos speakers are marvelous as well. And it has a built-in projector! Been a couple of years and updates were never Lenovo's strong suit, but now there's a new one in town at last! It was launched at IFA Berlin 2019 earlier last month, doesn't seem to be availlable in the US, but is already shipping in the EU. I have fallen in love with tablets again thanks to the Yoga Tab-series and it's currently perhaps the no.1 gadget that adds value to my life (eBook/eMag reading, Netflix/streaming/YouTube/video, browsing, etc). Again, the kickstand is underrated! In certain aircraft you can even flip it out 180 degrees and put it in the magazine pouch of the seat in front of you (like so) so that you have your own in-flight entertainment system at eye-height.
Regarding the notepadthingie. I actually have one of those. Believe I got it from Banggood.com , they're a cool site. They've got one that's $9.99 opposed to $18. Of course don't forget to look on AliExpress which pretty much is your one-stop-spot for anything these days (don't forget to check eBay... and Amazon either). My BOSE QC35 II headphones. Back in the day I was mesmerized by the effectiveness of the QuietComfort 15 and had to have it. I then briefly had switched it up next round with the Philips Fidelio NC1 where the audio and comfort were better, but the noicecancelling qualities were a bit behind and it didn't work properly anymore at all after a while. Now happily rocking the QC35 II although I've been hearing good things about that Sony WH-1000XM3. I'm in planes and trains a lot and noise cancellation and something to enjoy multimedia with is definitely a must!
Wired IEM? I really like the in-ears from Alpha & Delta (through http://www.lendmeurears.com ). The AD D2 are a great bargain with a sound signature that I find to be 'just right'. Cinegain reacted to BTM_Pix in 3C Cinema Camera Control App - V2 Announcement
V2 of our 3C Cinema Camera Control App now includes support for the Tilta Nucleus Nano focus controller.

The Nucleus Nano wheel connects wirelessly to the 3C app over Bluetooth LE and enables you to use the wheel to electronically control focus of your native MFT and adapted EF (with smart adapter) lenses on the Pocket 4K without using a motor.
Electronic control of the lenses can be a big advantage when using the Pocket4K on a gimbal to keep the weight down or to keep any rig smaller and not require additional powering for the motors.
In addition, it also circumvents issues that arise when using the motor with small native lenses that don't lend themselves particularly well to using focus gear straps and often have limited manual throw.
It also enables you use the hardware REC button on the Nucleus Nano wheel to control the Start/Stop of the camera and the record status is returned back to the wheel to illuminate the switch when the camera is recording.
As the Nucleus Nano wheel is fully integrated into 3C it also enables you use it to create the 6 focus storage positions which you can then choose to automatically switch to either in Snap mode or multi speed Transition modes.
The Setup screen of 3C now includes two scanners for easy selection of the camera and the Nucleus Nano wheel once Bluetooth mode is selected in the wheel.

V2 will be submitted to the Play Store for publication on the 11th October and will be available as a free automatic update for existing users.

It’s not a secret I like my MFT gear.
I go for a balance of flexibility, coverage and weight.
PL 10-25mm f/1.7 serves as my wide to portrait lens and as my set of primes. Fast aperture. Great lowlight. It’s on my camera 75% of the time. It also serves as my astro lens. FF equiv. of a 20-50mm.
PL 50-200 f/2.8-4 a great telephoto that balances focal range, aperture, and size nicely. Will be getting a 2x teleconverter to extend range. FF equiv. 100-400mm. With a 2x teleconverter a 200-800mm.
Those are my go to lenses the vast majority of the time. They are the two lenses I grab when I know I might want to shoot but don’t know exactly what. Packs nicely in even a small bag and with a teleconverter in my bag as well I can carry two lenses and have 20mm  to 800mm coverage with two lens! With only a slight gap in the middle around 85mm.
I did own the venerable 12-35f/2.8 but sold it as it has been replaced by the 10-25. I sold my PL 12mm f/1.4 as it also just was never on my camera after the 10-25.
Will be building out a vintage kit later that prioritizes character and feel.

I frequently use the Oly 12-100 on my GH5s, where I use it most of the time and really like this combo. I put it on one of my P4Ks with a shoulder rig today and was surprised at the difference. The Oly 12-100 shows visible distortion on straight lines (think door frames) both in the middle and on the edges of the lens. I will have to use this combo more to decide for sure, but at the moment, I am leaning toward saying this is not a good combination.

Still have to go through that one myself, believe it or not (complete watching it, that is!). ? Always caught little chunks of it, but never actually saw the whole trilogy. That's the thing if you were young and brought up with television. Usually these things started at say 20:30 and I either didn't know it was on and would perhaps channel hop and come across it only to join-in like half an hour in or it went on so long that it ended past bedtime with school the next day. It's been only a few years ago that I finally saw all Star Wars movies too for example. Or... The Godfather. Currently landed on Rocky. Want to watch the original Top Gun (from my year of birth!) as well. Think the last movie I actually saw in theaters was Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Dunno, wasn't really feeling it. That whilst The Hateful Eight has been one of the better masterpieces I've seen in the last couple of years. But that might be because it was the 70mm Ultra Panavision Roadshow version. Just gorgeous.
But yeah, still a lot of catching up to do... in meanwhile there's so much new content to consume, it's a never ending battle trying to catch 'em all, much like Pokémon. xD Consume a lot of series. I'm not too much into too intellectual or artsy stuff, I'm pretty much a basic bitch, I like the popular stuff. In my freetime I like to relax my mind with some easy to watch entertainment. I randomly started watching The Blacklist. Really enjoyable first couple of seasons, still finishing up the latest few. Now I've started The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Tbh, hadn't heard of the original, but it's cool to see this kind of practical filmmaking is still alive, gave me a real Gremlins/Robot Chicken-vibe up front. Thought the series would be a little darker and adults-focused, but it feels more like a (Snow White-esque) fairytale for kids.

Cinegain reacted to Alt Shoo in JVC GYLS300 In 2019
The JVC Gyls300 is still very relevant and capable in 2019 and well beyond it! I just finished a culturally important urban documentary, that I’ve been working on for two years, titled ‘Marcy Made’, which 95 percent of it was filmed with the JVC!
The documentary is about DeHaven Irby. DeHaven Irby for those who may not know, was a very good friend of Jay-Z and was the person responsible for bringing Jay-Z into the game. Jay is actually DeHaven’s daughter god father. Anyways they aren’t friends anymore and things have been said on both sides about one another.
Their friendship ceased when DeHaven was sent to prison and Jay-Z left him there without any explanation of why. When DeHaven was released, he published a YouTube video in 2008, which went viral. In it he talked about a lot of issues with him and Jay, but wasn’t specific, so he left a bunch of questions unanswered. Jay-Z responded in one of his records, “So fuck DeHaven for caving, that’s why we don’t speak, Made men ain’t supposed to make statements!” In essence calling him a snitch...... This documentary answers all of those questions and shows that DeHaven isn’t a snitch. It also reveals the true reason behind their split.
I had a screening of it this past Friday (9/27/2019) at Firelight Studio in Brooklyn, NY and these are just some pics of the venue’s screening room. I must say that the GYLS300’s image held up wonderful on the screen! I prefer a higher bit color rendition from a cinema camera, but the 8bit IQ coming from this sensor is still capable of competing!
Heres the trailer for the documentary:

It's smooth and works really well, much like the Olympus PRO integration, but the 'soft stops' are something to get used to, there's a slight feedback once you hit the stop and then by its focus by wire nature continues to turn (which luckily doesn't do a thing, but still; also, for focus pulling (repeatable) this will be messed up unfortunately). I have the 18-35mm f/1.8 in Nikon mount and I'd say it probably does manual focus just as well.
Don't know, more like a spot-on 'little baby Jesus' to me. It also kind of looks like... it could use a good rinse.

I agree. It appears they are incorporating a few features in all the new S lenses. Manual focus clutch with a linear focus choice and parfocal abilities by using the AF system to “fake” an optically parfocal lens.
I get it. But OIS in a wide lens didn’t really make sense. I suspect adding OIS to the 10-25 just made it too bulky, especially when the GH5/G9/EM1.2 cameras have such good IBIS already.
Bottom line is if DoF is on the top of your list then MFT is not your best option.
For me, MFT makes all the right trade offs for what I need and want. And as camera phones have shown the future is in computational photography. I’m sure there will be a time where I can shoot on a MFT camera and select a few extra stops of DoF in camera with a push of a button.

Well, it’ll cost you more than $1799 to pickup a S1H and an L mount lens.
I have the 10-25 f1.7. It’s a brilliant lens. It will be even more brilliant on a future GH6.
If the GH6 has as good lowlight ability as the GH5S then it’s going to be a huge hit as long as it carries on the GH5 tradition.
I shot some video of some Elk a couple of days ago. It was dusk, approaching blue hour. I had my 50-200 f2.8-4. I was shooting at 200mm f4 at ISO 10000 and 12800 in 10bit HLG. The noise performance was more than acceptable. I lost a bit of color vitality but it was dusk so it really didn’t matter.
The 4K footage downsampled to 1080p didn’t need any noise reduction at all. If I was to keep it at 4K I would have applied noise reduction to some of the clips at 12800. The images were more than useable.
I switched out to the 10-25 for some environment shots at at f1.7 I could drop my ISO to 2500-3200 which is a piece of cake for the GH5S.
  25. Thanks

I hope you're aware some of your cons list don't really apply anymore, isn't it? When there's a new firmware update to introduce PDAF and you can use a wide angle lens as for instance, correct? : -)
