Juank reacted to thebrothersthre3 in Panasonic FF L-mount Cine camera coming
Wonder how well adapted glass works. If I was going for the S1 I'd probably go the speedbooster route to get that medium format look.
Not going to lie if it had built in ND's it would go right to the top of my going to buy list. Even without it though the S1 is attractive and the S1H even more so.

Juank reacted to currensheldon in Panasonic FF L-mount Cine camera coming
Based on just what we know, if Sony released this exact same camera but as the A7sIII, people would be heaping praise on them.
- first mirrorless to offer full frame 60p in 4k
- 10 bit for 24-60p in 4K (first ever)
- very very usable IBIS (unlike Sony’s)
- Anamorphic shooting
- and oh, btw, the first camera to shoot full frame 6k under $30k...
- 14 stops dynamic range with Panasonic’s color science (which is way nicer than Sony).
Still hoping for internal NDs, but we’ll see what else they put in here. This thing is PACKED full of features.

R = resolution, S = speed (?), and the H = heat ?

Juank reacted to BTM_Pix in Panavision announce new Electronic ND Filter, powered by built-in battery
To the fully working in electric blue case with separate bluetooth remote controller stage thank you very much
I'm looking for some bigger glass as there is currently a limitation on the size of lens it is suitable for.
I did say I'd do a build along thread for it for anyone who wants to have a go as is (cost for the glass and controller is around £50-60) and I will get round to it.

Juank reacted to highres in They did it! Fuji GFX 100 first to bring pro video specs to medium format with 10bit 4K at 400Mbit, F-LOG and IBIS
It has a 4:3 sensor, would be great to record video open gate when shooting anamorphic. Stills anamorphic open gate would be nice too, of course.

Juank reacted to Andrew Reid in Huawei P30 Pro may be the last, as Google suspends business with Chinese smartphone manufacturer
Apple and Google phones don't real generate random numbers, which are necessary for secure encryption. Government backdoor right there.
I am sure these US bluechip companies are thrilled at the empty order book thanks to Donald Tit.
Intel for example is set to lose potentially billions of dollars over next few years in lost Chinese orders.
That Trump has so many people believing in his business skills is a neat trick. Unravelling the entire US economy is his other lesser known neat trick and this is the start of it.
Huawei can afford to lose Qualcomm as can other companies. Snapdragon is replaced by Kirin 980 already in the P30 Pro and many other handsets and I can personally vouch for how fast it is. However, if the Chinese wanted to withdraw a few services.... Let's say "manufacturing"... Where does that leave important US tech giants like Apple and Google? What if Foxconn closed the order books on those companies? And on RED?
A trade war is like any other war. Nobody wins.

Juank reacted to mercer in NAB 2019 predictions and major talking points - BMPCC 4K Pro anyone?!
Yup, I bought my Samyang 50mm from them and if anything they undersold it in their description. It was my first purchase from them and it was a great experience.

Juank reacted to Emanuel in NAB 2019 predictions and major talking points - BMPCC 4K Pro anyone?!
Simple occasion! Private deal from a sister of a Portuguese private seller when he sold me a few MFT lenses moving to new Canon's FF mirrorless system.
New introductions always mean bargains in the existent gear. The woman wanted a new Canon unit as well. I took the chance, she asked 200 euros and I offered 300 euros for a bundle to comprehend that one and a Panasonic's 1" FZ1000 she had in hands as well.
Reason also why bashing new releases of a different manufacturer is pure meaningless, plain stupid and fully nonsense : -)
@BTM_Pix That's a great find! I almost feel compelled to not resist to keep going my collection of outdated *cough cough* g̶a̶d̶g̶e̶t̶s̶ capture devices... LOL Really : -)

Its nowhere near as cheap as @Emanuel got his for, but MPB have one for £209

Juank reacted to sanveer in Eos R finally closer to it's actual value
Let's list out the Shortcomings of the EOS R
1. No 4k 60p and no DCI 4k.
2. 1080p only at 23.98/24/29.97/59.94fps.
3. No 120fps 1080p. It still has 720p for high speed video (in 2019???).
4. MP4 video format instead of MOV
5. Internal codec limited to 4:2:0 8-bit internal recording despite that monstrous 480mbps codec MP4.
6. Huge 1.7x crop factor with 4K (some even claim an imaginary 1.8x crop). Meaning low light would be an issue and the quality of sharpness may be debatable
7. Recording time limited to 29:59 for continuous video recording.
8. No IBIS and many of it's new lenses don't have OIS meaning shake would be like a bad amateur after effects job.
9. There was banding in photos, but it seems to have been improved substantially.
9. One of the lowest rated full frame Mirrorless sensors (especially for dynamic range).
10. Class leading rolling shutter (?)
11. PDAF not as effective in 4k as it is in 1080p (only a few people seem to have noticed this, apparently).
12. Not the most impressive battery life.
Ok, I got bored writing this. There are a few more points. Maybe you could fill them out when you read this. Hehehe.

Juank reacted to Video Hummus in Will the Sony A7S III have a 48 / 12 megapixel Quad Bayer Exmor RS sensor?
This is possibly good news for MFT cameras and shooters. It sounds like a path to bring MFT into the 8K world in a cost effective way while combating some of the weak points like low light performance. I believe DoF will become a creative software choice in the future. I so enjoy the lighter kit and great video MFT offers. Especially when you have to lug it up a mountain or on long shooting days.
Sure, the same can be applied to FF with even better specs but at some point I’ll trade image quality for other features I.e., better sensor stabilization, less weight, more FPS, smaller telephoto, etc..
-
Juank reacted to Video Hummus in Full frame rival sales figures = grim reading for everyone vs Sony
Uh, Canon/Nikon/Panasonic would rather make you buy a $5000+ cinema camera for the better codecs than to put it in a $2000 hybrid camera. It’s called up-selling.
Why Panasonic doesn’t offer it in its GH5S, a heavily video centric camera, I’m not sure. My guess is lack of compute power/heat dissipation in that form factor.
BMD is doing the right thing. Offering great options in lots of different form factors. The fact that the P4K has BRAW for $1500 is insane.

Juank reacted to SR in Davinci Resolve 16
I'm a photographer by trade, so nodes seemed intimidating at first, but nothing you can't get over with an hour of mucking around and tutorials. In fact, I find Resolve much more logical and just plain wonderful when color grading, even if Premiere does seem simpler at first. There's a reason why so many Hollywood films are graded in Resolve.
-
Juank reacted to MeanRevert in Davinci Resolve 16
As someone who's recently moved from premiere, I agree with previous posters about premiere's strength in organization. There's a little bit of a learning curve moving to resolve's color panels but once you get some time in your belt, I think it's a far more intuitive approach using nodes vs layers.
If I were Adobe, I'd be worried.

Juank reacted to denis.t in Bausch and Lomb Cinemascope Camera Attachment lens
Picked it up on eBay, came in its original box too. Condition is quite nice with only a tiny cleaning mark on the rear element. Surprisingly it has very nice coverage, at 58mm on FF there is no vignetting.

Juank reacted to denis.t in Bausch and Lomb Cinemascope Camera Attachment lens
Hello everyone,
I picked up a nice B&L Cinemascope Camera Attachment Anamorphic lens but there seems to not be much content on it online. It is not the huge projection lens, but rather the early dual focus setup camera lens used by 20th Century Fox. Has anyone had any experience with using this lens before and would like to share it?

Juank reacted to Andrew Reid in NAB 2019 predictions and major talking points - BMPCC 4K Pro anyone?!
It would probably just be easier to add ProResRAW internal recording to E-M1X or future GH6
40 minutes at best and sometimes camera turns off at 50% so hardly reliable
YES to that. Where is a new Ninja Star?! If they can power it via USB C with no need for Canon LP, even better. Modern chips very efficient and at same time powerful.

Juank reacted to MeanRevert in NAB 2019 predictions and major talking points - BMPCC 4K Pro anyone?!
They should announce the Pocket 4K Pro with the exact same specs except that it ships on time and with adequate supply.
