As you may be aware, Fujifilm has registered three new cameras:
    FF190001
    FF190002 – X-Pro3
    FF190003
One of them is a 44 x 33 large format video centric camera with 4K x 3K RGB output.

    Latest leak:
The 60MP mirrorless from Nikon obviously share the same sensor (variant) as Sony A7R IV. But it'll extract the full potential of this sensor in both stills and video department, by employing 16bit RAW mode (as in GFX100) and supersampled 4K video with various crop factors and aspect ratios.

photographer-at-large reacted to Andrew Reid in EXCLUSIVE: Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K gets Time of Flight Autofocus with Prototype add-on
Time of Flight / LiDAR continuous autofocus is really quite remarkable technology. There are rumours Panasonic will implement it on future cameras like the GH6. Don’t you wish the current autofocus-challenged cameras like the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K or GH5 could have amazingly smooth Dual Pixel AF-like performance?
Well, you could soon be in luck. Time of Flight Autofocus is a reality and I’ve seen it working.
With this prototype add-on, a Time of Flight sensor sits in the hotshoe and talks wirelessly to the Pocket 4K. The autofocus motors in the Micro Four Thirds lens are commandeered based on real-time depth sensing information from the LiDAR beam.
I met up with CDA-TEK’s Ian (BTM_Pix on the forum) this week in Manchester to take a look at what he’s been working on.

I've probably said it before but whoever makes an HDMI input version of this tiltable EVF will make a fortune.

The new 54MP FF BSI is low cost, has relatively high speed (full sensor readout at 12bit 25.6fps), and very fast AF with dedicated AF lane.

Another interesting sensor from Sony Semiecon, a 48MP FF sensor with diagonal pixel arrangements, sounds familiar?

Shoot this camera with some smoother lenses like the Rokinon Cine DS lenses with a diffusion filter on top, choose cDNG if possible with sharpening turned down to 0 in Resolve, convert to IPP2 or Arri colorspace to save highlights and strong reds and blues from clipping.

    Profit
    Looks fantastic to my eyes.

Yes! My bad, it's the Zhongyi Mitakon 25mm 0.95.  It's awesome. Oddly, it also has the coolest box I've ever gotten with a lens.
It's 25, but because the sensor of the new Pocket is much bigger than the old one, it's kind of equivalent to a 20mm field-of-view on the old one.

If it wasn't for it being entirely the wrong mount for you, I'd definitely say have a look at the 7Artisans 28mm f1.4 which has been on my radar for a while but been waiting for more reviews.
    https://phillipreeve.net/blog/review-7artisans-28mm-1-4-fe-plus/
The other lens I've been looking at that might be worth a look even though it is a zoom is the Sigma ART 24-35mm f2
I was definitely going to buy a (cheap) used EF mount one of these for my SL later this week when I'm in Japan but this whole Sigma MC21 fiasco has thrown a spanner in the works for that but with it being EF it won't go to waste if I see a cheap enough one.
One of the shops I know has the 7Artisans 28mm f1.4 in stock so I'll be having a look at that in the flesh.
So expect some sample images from one of these two roughly this time next week.
    Or both

photographer-at-large reacted to androidlad in Will the Sony A7S III have a 48 / 12 megapixel Quad Bayer Exmor RS sensor?
Short answer: no it will not, or shall we say, it does not 😉
Long answer: Quad Bayer is a cost-effective compromise to boost low light performance by dropping resolution by 4 times. What if I tell you there are more sophisticated technologies to achieve unparalleled low light performance while still maintaining high resolution? We can have designs such as Deep Trench Isolation (DTI), Pyramid Surface Diffractor (PSD) and colour-aware ADC, they address crosstalk, QE and read noise which are key metrics for low light performance.

photographer-at-large reacted to DBounce in Gimbal or motion control?
We do not own the sliderkamera 6 axis, but we do own both motion controllers and gimbals. The gimbals are great if you are filming on the go and you are not the subject. They are no good if you are filming yourself. The motion controller makes more sense in this case. Granted the motion controller is also useful as a second shooter.
We use both the Ronin S and Edelkrone Motion Kit with HeadPlus. Both are quick to setup. The Edelkrone can be aimed by hand, which is a real timesaver.
If I could have only one, it would be the motion kit. Why? The motion kit captures cinematic motion every time. It never makes mistakes because the human factor is removed from the performance. Every move is repeatable; which makes for the possibility to create some very interesting vfx scenes.
