Oh I didn't know that... I'm lucky then (Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti) 🙂

Yeah, and you have to have an NVidia GPU or it won't work at all. I have a ballzy AMD Pro card with 16GB of VRAM and I am not allowed to play 🤕

You need to download the beta version of Premiere Pro to use the ProRes RAW files. Open your Adobe Creative Cloud app and it will be on the left column.
For now Premiere only support the exposition changes for the RAW files, neither the ISOS, WB or highlights/lowlights can be changed. Little to no advantage to use ProRes RAW for now.
Resolve RAW development module has always been my favorite, hope it will support it too !

Pretty sure a COVID-19 vaccine will be out before a new A7S.
R5 sent Sony back to the drawing boards for the 28th time.
Must be hard trying to exceed expectations in such a crowded industry.

The press release specifically says broadcast and cinema, this is likely what would have been the NAB announcement. The R line is not a broadcast or cinema line. The R5 will get its own announcement day so the C300mkIII or whatever else they announce doesn't get drowned out by the R5 hype. That's my bet.

Definitely what i'm waiting for as i'm primarily a windows based Resolve editor. My S1H and Atomos are ready for this 😬
Still have Premiere for certain clients that have the full Adobe CC workflow, but i'd love Resolve to support it asap.

Virtual press conference from Canon HQ planned on April 20th. Should be related to "professional products", so eos C300 mkIII and hopefully the latest details about the R5. Really hope it's the day the Canon eos R5 will be officially announced (with all the specs, release date and price) !

To summary up the findings so far around Resolve Studio 16.2 and 1Dx III files:

    - HEVC ALL-I and IPB 10bit 4:2:2  25fps neither Quick Sync or Nvidia 20xx can HW decode them. From our test seems all done in the CPU.
    - A top class desktop CPU 9900K can software decode in realtime both HEVC ALL-I and IPB 10bit 4:2:2 25 fps
    - A top class Notebook CPU 8750H can software decode in real-time but really at the limit (not really usable on a timeline without setting half resolution) HEVC but only IPB 10bit 4:2:2 25 fps not ALL-I (this is a strange one as IPB are more computationally intensive, probably the software decoder is more optimized for IPB).
    - A top class desktop CPU 9900K with a Nvidia 2080ti can realtime playback RAW 24fps. Probably even at 60fps I would need to upload and send a file to @Trankilstef
    -  A top class Notebook CPU 8750H but with a medium gpu 1050ti cannot real-time playback RAW 24fps, CPU is at 70% and GPU at 100% so maybe a gaming notebook with 8750H or 9750H with a 2070 or 2080 is able to do real-time RAW playback. Hope to find it out soon
    - A top class Notebook 9750H with 2070 cannot playback real-time HEVC ALL-I 10bit 4:2:2  25fps. We would need to test IPB

I just cannot imagine if the R5 at 8K will also be HVEC 10bit 4:2:2 if there is a machine that can playback those files. Hopefully there will be HW decoding in the future for this file type.

Thanks a lot to @KnightsFan @Trankilstef and @Matthew19 for the tests and contribution

Nice to know what is coming out, but it does put a lot of potential upgrades on freeze knowing the R5, R6, and Komodo are on the horizon. Those three cameras alone (not to mention a Cinema EOS camera with RF Mount) are reason enough to invest in RF mount for the foreseeable future over L-Mount, E-Mount, MFT, etc.
Hoping the R6 basically has the 1DX III specs, but without the 5.5k raw to get the price point down.
    - 10-bit 422 internal 4k up to 60fps
    - 10bit 422 internal 2k up to 120fps

Add in IBIS, newer longer-lasting battery compared to EOS R, dual slots, and this would be an awesome camera. R5 will be for ruggedness, pro shooters, photographers who need 40 megapixels, and for those who need 8K, but the R6 may be the better video option for those who do mostly video. Will probably be better in low light and have no-crop in 4k, both things the R5 may struggle with a bit more.
Despite my love for Panasonic's S1 and S1H, hard to argue with the RF Mount and once the R5, R6, and Komodo are announced, that's the direction I'll probably be going.

Depending on what happens in the next month, the price point in the UK will either be around £3.5K or two tins of soup, 20 sheets of toilet paper and two squirts of hand sanitiser.
Plus VAT in both cases obviously.

Well I’ve never been motivated to change or do something in my life because someone waived a 1DX in front of my face or did some stupid sketch about their Tesla Remote driving to bringing them their new C500Mk2. I’m not jealous at all. If you have the money and want toys that’s fine. All power to you. But in the end it’s really just hollow and empty. This is coming from someone that wants to start a YouTube channel for fun and maybe a bit of profit.
But I’m not going to waste my time peddling shit to any potential viewers. I won’t make the mistake of having the income from YouTube dictate what type of content I produce and when. That’s the trap. Eventually, you have to do this shit your YouTube punishes you for it. That’s why all these channels just start to converge into one big monolithic corporate sponsored blob.
Im really, really sick of the stealth sponsored brand peddling and extreme GAS that these people present to you. If you don’t agree with me then do an experiment.
Take these (Real) titles for example..emphasis theirs.
Is the BMPCC 6K still worth it?
    All you NEED is FPV.
Why I Invested In a NEW $16,000 Camera
How to use a wide angle lens effectively.
Hiking the Mardi Himal trek in Nepal.
Why I switched from Canon to Sony...
Whats in my camera bag 2020...
HOW TO CREATE CINEMATIC B ROOL
    New C500 Vs EOS R...
And that was two full scrolls down YouTube for me. Almost all of those titles are geared focused.
Don’t watch for 1 month. In that month, instead, go out and use your gear to create something. Doesn’t have to be some spectacular epic...just create. I will guarantee you will become more inspired and more creative doing it then watching this crap. I bet you will even come to appreciate the kit you are using. I bet you will be happier and more joyful.
Having said all of that. I like YouTube. I’ve learned SO MUCH in a very short amount of time on about any topic. This is the power of the internet, but it’s also the internet’s extreme weakness for promoting and sharing toxic thoughts and behaviors to an audience of billions—mostly kids.
Part of the reason, I think, that Peter McKinnon does so well is that he, as a magician / magician enthusiast, understands the power of illusion and presentation. Because not only is he getting paid to present you with some product but he is also selling you a certain image. And it seems this is everything in the successful YouTube personality space.
@Andrew Reid, I think your cheap camera challenge would translate well to YouTube channel to promote not only people actually using their gear and enjoying the process but to bring people here as well. If that is a goal of course. Maybe you don’t want that.

I moved on from Canon a long time ago (team Sony and ZCam now) but this has me interested -
The one thing that really keeps this from matching, for instance, the A7III isn't the camera specs but the lack of third party mirrorless lenses!
The Tamron 2.8 zooms (and now Sigma's 24-70) are what really make the Sony's a great value and size/weight! Tamron is half of Canon's, both in price and weight.

    The XH2 will still come.

In reality the XH1 should have been the XT3 with IBIS and the XT3 should have been what the XT4 is. That said its ok, Fuji is still doing more than most companies.

TBH The XT4 will be an ideal camera. Nice bright screen, IBIS, great image as per Fuji, and great battery life(especially with a grip). It needs to get rid of the record limits tho.
