Looks a bit like a 3D Design / product design university student major project to me.    Just looking at those renders makes me weep at how many of the mechanical aspects need to be fulfilled flawlessly.  It's all very well drawing something novel and pretty, but making them is another matter.  That sucker looks like they'd need a Sony R+D budget to pull it off at their expected price.  The reason the RED modularity works is that they price their gear to allow for the tremendous costs associated with making them work properly.
I hope I'm wrong and they deliver because if they don;t I can see a handful of optimistic early adopters being very disappointed.

    I thought so.
You are applying the subjective connotation of negativity, when in fact there is no intrinsic link to negativity in the definition or theory of scepticism itself.

Anyone who isn't sceptical of any new camera is, well I dont want to be insulting here, but lets just say it's perfectly reasonable to be sceptical.  The flaw of buttons being rotated and even upside down is an embarrassing mistake that makes your product look bad even if it is just a mock up. Red or blackmagic, canon or anyone would get called out on that kind of thing.  Would the new iphone ever have writing upside down? I don't think so.  Im glad it was pointed out, because it does matter if you are considering spending $6000 on one.

Fyi: It's $9k for the Terra 6k Pro Pack. I think a lot of the folks that have nothing but praise also really are not potential customers. People seriously considering this camera will be discriminating. And QC is very important as it is directly tied to reliability.

Well I guess some people are just easier to please than others. As for judging, as I have not had any hands on time, I can only judge by what I see, and I see crooked buttons. If so easy to fix, why is it not fixed? Just makes me wonder what else is not fixed.

The OP seems to be musing about some magic formula. Film execs have been thinking the same thing since the 20's. The answer is, "there isn't one". Good stories, powerfully told and technically well-crafted often die. Meanwhile, there's a huge audience for (what I feel anyway) is pure crap. (I have no clue why every movie now has a "marvel" logo and adults go to see superhero films by the millions. I love me some "escapist" entertainment, but I got my limits!!!)
One big differentiator is a hook or gimmick - Blair Witch for instance - some hated it but I found it a decent flick and very, very "new" at the time. That "Tangerine" flick, filmed on the iPhone - that got people curious, and many reviewers felt it was a very good film (and that the iPhone's particular color rendering actually worked and wasn't just a gimmick). Having something that gets your film talked about can help. But "new" or unique is very hard in this era.
A lot of it is likely pure luck, or the luck of catching the eye of someone with connections or a "voice" that gets heard in the media or whatever - someone that champions the work and starts things snowballing.
The key - if you want to do this for a living - is make compelling content in a way that you won't lose a lot (or any) money. So you can go on to the next one vs. bankruptcy. Many people are succeeding at that as well.

Right!? I'm genuinely stunned they haven't stuck the EF-M mount on a Cinema EOS camera yet. Here they've got a great mirrorless mount with speed boosters and adapters for EF(-S) compatibility just sitting there and they're doing precisely dick all with it.

Anyway, I don't know why people continue to create confusion, when everything is outlined so clearly. Please read and watch everything, and stop misinterpreting things.

This is blackmagic.  Nothing is around the corner.  Even if they anounce it tomorrow you wouldn't get your hands on one for another year.
I think the differences are pretty surface level.  The pocket can be used on its own, the micro needs a monitor or viewfinder (unless you're using it as a go pro or crash cam).  The micro does 60p, In the future it may do global shutter.  The micro has a bigger battery. The micro has an expansion port that someone might design a remote control for at some point.  The micro (I think) has slightly less rolling shutter.  I think thats pretty much it.

I don't like to take sides in bitch fights, but I believe you will turn out to be correct.  You see the exact same thing DSLR raw files at native resolution when pushed.  Chroma noise reduction is needed at the very least.  People forget that "low light" cameras like the A7S will have a shit ton of noise reduction applied.
And unfortunately I seriously wonder whether black magic would test a new pocket cam before they send it out.  They are probably just taking the customer at their word that their is an issue and rolling the roulette wheel with a replacment.  There is a good chance the replacement will be just the same or even worse.

Filmmaker is the standart text that the forum places there, mr professor. If you take a look at bioskops file, open it in photoshop, turn off color noise removal and push one stop (iso 1600) you will see the same noise you have. You can take any camera and put it into equivalent iso (iso 4800-6400 for fullframe) and you will see the same noise in shitty light.
Have fun, I've seen this noise debates on dpreview for years, it's always the same story.

Yeah, quite a lot of people think IS is a steadycam, when it is just for hand vibration.  Drives me mental when I see reviewers jump up and down and walking slopily to test IS.  I want to say to them: "How do you think that the small movement of the sensor or the lens can compensate for you jumping up and down? You are a moron!"
Edit: I thought you were replying to someone else.

Moot.  Kinefinity wouldn't be broadcasting about prores support if they didn't have the licence in the bag in some way or another.  The person who responded to your email probably just went on their own website, saw the brand isn't listed and responded accordingly.  I seriously doubt the person handling random unsolicited emails is taking the time, let alone even able to access the list of pending licencing deals going on in one of the biggest technology companies in the world!

Is that just raw from the bmmcc youre talking about.  How does prores hold up.  If prores could almost match 5d3 raw then that would be an acheivment, especially at 60p.

He has no rights to that footage whatsoever, you own full rights.  If they disagree with that, tell them to talk to a solicitor. You dont have to do anything. Will he see a solicitor? will he fuck.  And if he does he will be humbled by what they tell him.
Very simple solution: Sell the raw files to him. (with written confirmation that you have full rights over your edit)   He obviously wants them, so charge him what you think he will be willing to pay.  Dont be stingy on yourself. ask for $500, $1000 or even more if they are rich. Alow them to bargain down.  In the long run, you aren't going to need raw files of a shitty rock band so why not.

Just curious. Had anybody put up a pre-order anywhere and could it be that they're slowly shipping out right about now?
See, I was randomly checking stock situations at different stores and the local one I bought my Video Assist at suddenly has changed from 'ships in 31+ days' to 'In stock'... however, all other shops got nothing and are still accepting pre-orders. Haven't found any other 'ships in x days' items on the site either, everything appears to be in stock which is pretty unlikely too, so now I'm thinking it might just all be bollocks and some backend/system/database fault. But it be nice to know. I know CVP sometimes had pre-orders running in the past because of the backorder, but were slowly shipping out items out whenever they got a handful of units in (Blackmagic does this so randomly, stores have no idea until something pops up for delivery I believe). But they seem to post exciting news like that on their social media, and non about the BMMCC yet: https://www.facebook.com/cvptv / https://twitter.com/cvpgroup . I kinda have become 'A6300? Fuck it. I'll get a BMMCC and G7', so I gotta admit I'd get one if they have some.

You have to be joking even testing for a bandwidth issue if that is your connection.  That upload destroyes about 99% of peoples download.  You could probably live-stream 8k with that connection.  Its like a member of a swat team walking down the street saying "well I dont see any muggers".
Basically the data rate of a vimeo HD video is about 4.8 megabit per second.  If your connection is always above that you will never see this issue.
Lets say your downstream is only half that, you would clearly need to stop the video and let half of the video buffer.  The maximum buffer is now only 20 seconds, so anyone with a connection slower than 2.4 meg will not be able to watch from beggining to end a HD video that is longer than 40 seconds.
If yout connection is 3/4ths of 4.8 you will need to buffer a quarter of the video, which means anyone with a 3.6 meg connection will not be able to watch from beggining to end a HD video that is longer than 1 minutes 20 seconds.
Trust me, speeds this low are not uncommon at all. many rural exchanges in the UK are limited to 2 meg.

After ejecting yet another Sony camera that looked great on paper (RX10ii) I thought I'd make a little comment about this...
its been replaced by a Canon XC10. On paper a crazy idea, but in reality it's an upgrade. No ultra high speed, but no problem TBH. Slow lens? Yeah, but great colour great battery life, brilliant menus and autofocus...
If you look on paper at the specs and the choice looks silly, but actually use the cameras and all becomes crystal clear.
Sony menus are so bad they ruin the experience of the cameras for me. The build quality is also questionable, probably partly due to an obsession with miniaturisation that is becoming counter productive.
The colour is so obviously Sony because it's always missing something. The F65 looks great, but once you get down to consumer/pro crossover level I'm afraid it's just a bit piggy unless you want a kind of odd bluish Kodak emulation on everything.
its not that you can't make it look nice, it's that it restricts you to a certain look that isn't always suitable, so I find unless the situation is very controlled I can't cut it with Canon C footage to my satisfaction.
its so disappointing because Sony specs are great, and their innovations like the memory CMOS for high-speed footage, as well as continuous ND are brilliant.
But every time I get one of these things into a high-pressure situation or back into post I just feel let down.
i actually WANT to like them, but I don't! So I'm venting.
ill add some XC10 footage to the pinned thread shortly...

I'm not, the ps4 has a similar amount of power to a custom gaming PC that costs about £450-£500, and a PC that costs £2000 is considered about right to get 1440p resolutions at a decent frame rate. Next gen though, for sure
