A few test shots from a recent location scout. I've been using my Canon 28mm f/1.8 lens a lot lately. It is just so versatile. I originally thought it would be too wide for my tastes as I usually prefer the 35mm-60mm focal lengths, but the ability to get a shallow depth, close up or a fairly, wide establishing shot has been great.

  2. EVA1 has a 1.5x crop Super35 sensor and does not crop or window up to 120fps in full DCI 2K (not just HD), but does crop to m43 for 240fps. it also will shoot 2K 10-bit up to 120fps, but 8-bit for 240fps.

My problem with looking for things to adapt to M mount was that I started looking at real M mount lenses and well one thing led to another.... In my defence it was a bargain. In Leica terms at least

Sorry missed this the other day. I think the inappropriate c-mount lenses shoe horned on is what appeals me the most about c-mounts. Until recently I’ve only used adapted, vintage lenses... so I have quite the... collection. Back when I had the G7, I had my first opportunity to test them on a modern digital camera and in the first few days I captured my favorite images I ever captured with the G7 and Micro 4/3. Once I started testing and using FF lenses, my results were lackluster. So, in some ways that added character of the jerry-rig kind of helped... for me anyway. Interesting about the E-Mount. I’ve been watching a ton of a6000 videos lately and I’m still blown away by the video quality nearly 4 years after its release.

  5. This is a good intro to the structure of proxies and caches in Resolve - it's from v12 but the overall structure is likely to be similar if not exactly the same in 15. There's also a google doc of the diagram: https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1pbBbA4I2q3RZYrOSELPXgfdzp0X6B9OngVimTeSmbuo/edit Resolve is a complicated beast. I had to watch a few tutorials on manual Online / Offline editing workflows to find one that worked, especially considering my proxy files were slightly different filenames (extensions were different than proxies) but this was one of the ones I watched and might give an idea about the logic involved.

  7. But the downside is you have to put up with the MX sensor. I mean for goodness sake even the AF100 does better in low light than the RED Epic: http://philipbloom.net/blog/kesslerdoc1/ Using my F3 I really appreciate its lowlight capabilities so I can work with smaller lighting packages and a smaller lighting crew (which I have to do, I'm no big shot DoP!). Sometimes like last weekend I'll use something as small as a Dedo for a fill, and my key might only be a 1.2K Fresnel Tungsten, and that will be enough for even quite slow F stops so the cam op can handle pulling focus himself even with tight shots and the talent swaying back and forth.

  9. I was recently persuaded to acquire a SL rather than a big Canon C series camera. Working with it for a few days ... it bridges the still/video cross for me. Still need to dial in color and most probably add an external recorder for 10bit color and a gimbal for movement ... or add a Osmo Raw for those shots not on a tripod. Here is a fairly long poorly edited clip from the camera .... https://vimeo.com/280429800 Password: daysend This one was fun ... but shows the need for an external 10bit recorder. https://vimeo.com/280436564 Password: daysend I will pull them in a couple of days. 11. Hi, I have extensive experience with RME and had the rme 400 , now UFX II. The drivers in RME is rock solid and you can record with low latencey (the is now way the Zoom will be that stable). If you record music, the RME is the way to go as it much better for that purpose (DsP with EQ, compressor, auto level of recording, high impedance input for guitar, etc.) , recording video sound the F8n will do well. Sound Devices will benefit from analog limiter, slightly less noise.

I like the versatility of the mount itself but I suppose that just encourages trying to shoehorn inappropriate lenses on to it and the amount of adapters that I own is now reaching ridiculous levels. The most sensible mount for me now is fast becoming the e mount. Sigma upping their game with lenses for it has helped, their electronic adapters for their EF and SA mount lenses are another boon and I've just got the TechArtPro adapter so now I've got AF for all of my manual lenses (within reason). It also means though that I've now had to go and get yet more adapters to convert the other mounts to Leica M as thats what the TechArtPro takes !

freakin' Indiana is Freakin Beautiful to shoot in! I was in Brookville and Saint Marys road to Sunman 2 days ago, just a beautiful area. This Harley was shot in Brookville, Indiana. The video below was shot on Saint Marys Road. I had to hurry, Really Hurry! The Farmer that owned that Field was Mowing the other side of the road I was parked on with a John Deere Tractor from hell coming at me fast as heck! He stopped in front of my car and I talked to him I bet for 15 minutes about his farm and my video equipment. Farmers are great people. And there is a Bunch of them close to where I live. I only live like 5 miles from the Indiana border in Ohio. Most of my fathers side of the family are farmers in Iowa.

  14. Hey guys, sorry I'm back. @Marco Tecno Monitors do not work well for shooting stills on the NX1. The reason is the hdmi port puts out a low resolution image until you're actually recording. Frankly I wasn't impressed with this monitor till I actually hit the record button... suddenly the image was tack sharp. Also, you can't zoom in on the images without hitting buttons on the monitor... the more I think about, using a monitor on the NX1 IS TERRIBLE FOR SHOOTING STILLS!!! Also, the monitor has it's own focus peaking mode. @capitanazo The monitor works with the nx1 while recording in 1920x1080 at 120 fps. I shot some high speed footage earlier this week and didn't have any problems with the monitor.
