Good to hear another firmware update is coming for E1 owners, I wonder what it will be.

I was thinking of buying the E1 for slow motion/b-camera with my bmpcc. If they can add a higher framerate in 1080p  I might actually get it. 60p isn't bad, but since it has the GH4 sensor and 240fps in 720p, 96fps in 1080p seems weirdly absent. It's only $200 on B&H so I may get it anyway.

You can now buy extra batteries and a charger direct from Z with free shipping and fast delivery at a reasonable price.

My question is actually off-topic, because I'm asking on the behalf of friends outside of Asia who want to shop on Taobao for other things, not necessarily the Z camera accessories.

Used to order from Taobao/Tmall quite a bit. You'll need an agent/mediator (I did one time try myself, never really worked out). There used to be MisterTao that spun off from the Buyincoins website, but they've gone back to just being a webshop. I've mentioned an alternative on this site once already:

For someone who wants to undertake ordering something from abroad, but shops don't send items to your country... there are some forwarding services. I'll name a few: https://www.shipito.com (US -> ..) | http://www.borderlinx.com (US -> ..) | https://www.bpm-lux.com (US/UK/BE/LX/DE/IT/ES -> ..) | https://mailboxde.com (DE -> ..) | http://www.logoix.com (DE -> EU) | http://www.huifkarverzendservice.nl (DE -> NL) | http://www.cssbuy.com (CN -> ..)http://www.mistertao.com (CN -> ..) | http://www.tenso.com/en/ (JP -> ..) | http://global.rakuten.com/en/ (JP -> ..) | etc. There's also some other type of new and upcoming way to get your deliveries. It's a sort of UBER/Lyft model, so more like a p2p kinda of thing, but instead of being with driver and passenger it's sender and receiver... try it own risk: https://www.parcl.comhttp://airnshop.com .

Also try http://aliexpress.com , home of a lot of manufacturers as well (there's an app in your smartphone's app store, a lot can be had with a discount buying through the app). Did you know Aputure runs an offical store there for example? https://aputure.aliexpress.com . Need stuff for your GoPro? Have a look at TELESIN: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/630476 for example. A lot of brands have official stores on Amazon too (which always is a nice place to check, as some of the lightning deals involve camera gear and could get interesting from time to time). Or like Lilliput and Zhong Yi they might even have their own distribution channels, e.g.: http://lilliputdirect.comhttp://www.zyoptics.net/purchase-online/ .

[..]

DISCLAIMER: if you import something from abroad, make sure you know your national regulations and be aware that import duties might apply to your shipment

Why don't they offer anything remotely like that price outside of the US?

There are enough people with M43 lenses kicking about that might be tempted at that price to pick one up as a B cam.

It would also do the company a world of good in laying a foundation for the brand to the potential buyers of their new camera.

Reshippers! ?
Although when I purchased my E1 at the end of last year it went missing ? Had my SLR Magic lens, and Lectro TX more in the package, just my bad luck that the only time it went missing is also when I'd made my biggest combo order!! oh well

And your postman is currently in post-production on his debut short film ;)

My daughter is on holiday in NY at the moment so I just sent her a message asking nicely if she might pop in BH and pick one up for me.

Well, I thought she was.

I wasn't anticipating a reply with the time difference but got one straight back telling me that she is already back and that I clearly do not follow her blog posts :)

I wouldn't even think about it if they were that price here. At €600, I'm much less interested

Tiny footprint though.

As a fixed remote operated camera with a small Panasonic pancake on it for a second angle, I think it has some utility for $199 but yeah even at half the price they ask for it here its a no go.

Even at that price though its the cheapest way to get an MFT camera with a mic input !!
